Anyone who has read my other reviews knows that I am not an easy grader, so to speak. I must admit that it took me several revisions before I arrived at the perfect score for Shaws. They truly earned it-- consistently! I have shopped the store as well as had home delivery courtesy of DoorDash. The prices are excellent and the products are fresh. The meat is high quality and the fruit is second to none. I am really impressed with the low prices and great sales. I have shopped every other grocery store within 20 miles and this store is #1 in sales and quality of product! I am really pleased with the item availability as well. My only suggestion is that I wish that they would deliver to South Berwick. DoorDash is fine but the prices are not as low as direct from Shaws. This is the best grocery store in the Seacoast. Get the flyer and shop the sales. They even put things on sale that are in short supply such as Coke, canned cat food and beef soup. They haven't increased their prices on scarce items either. If you haven't been here in a while try them again...you will no doubt be pleasantly surprised. read more

Show's is ok. It has a good selection of good. But it is so expensive. Much more than other local supermarket Why three stars? They often have English sweets and biscuits. read more

My husband and I just got done shopping at Shaw's in Dover, NH . The young lady that bagged our groceries was awesome.!!!!!! Maddie. She worked fast, was courteous and helpful. And she is an expert bagger. Kept all the colds together in the bag my husband presented her with and doubled bagged the heavy drinks. I was very impressed. Thanks for the great service. The Bakery Clerk went above and beyond my expectations. It was early Saturday morning and she was working there all by herself. The bagel shelf had not been stocked yet, and when I asked if she had any she could have easily said no and sent me on my way. But instead she stopped what she was doing and baked up a batch of bagels right there while I waited. Not only did I get what I wanted, but they were fresh out of the oven and still warm when I got home. It doesn't get much better than that! I had a very pleasant visit to Shaws on Central Ave on 1/30/23. I couldn't find crackers that were a "u" deal. A woman who was stocking shelves but not working for Shaws stopped stocking & helped me find that I was looking for. Another woman employee helped me find the correct aisle for another item. The cashier, Bonnie, noticed the computer did not ring up the reduced amount for the "U" items & corrected it right away. So appreciate good customer service. I only stop here if I'm in the area, which isn't often, but when I do there's usually hardly anyone in here shopping and hardly anyone working. The prices are really high compared to other grocery stores in the immediate area, and when they're having sales, for example a 4/$10 sale, if you don't buy 4, you get charged regular price, not sale price. They're the only grocery store around that does that and it's crazy to me! Every. Single. Time. I have been in here in the last 6 months, something has rung up wrong, the cashier never knows how to fix it and they make you go to customer service to be refunded, such an inconvenience. Also, every single time I've been in here, I've had to bag my own groceries because like I said, there's hardly anyone working and the cashier doesn't even TRY to bag! read more

The U coupon system at this store is not working. Half the time the sale prices are incorrect. This system is tedious and annoying. Often their sale items are sold out. The best aspect of this store is the empty parking lot. read more

Coming here is usually a last resort for me, especially since Hannaford is both right next door, and the other Hannaford location is much closer to me. However, I wanted to write this review because of the great service I experienced in the meat section today. I wanted to buy some ground lamb, and after going to both Dover Hannaford shops, neither of which had any, I headed over to Shaw's. They didn't have any on display, however, the butcher offered to ground up some boneless lamb for me at no extra cost. I was really pleased to get such great service. read more

I do the bulk of my shopping here and for the most part, I am a pretty happy camper. The vegetable selection is usually great (I sometimes have a tough time getting cilantro for my Mexican meals and some hot peppers, but other than that, everything else is there all the time) and the other food offerings are plentiful as well. We've had the deli food and that has always been tasty. One of the things I liked the BEST was the discount you could get at Irving gas station when you shopped here, but as of this month, that is going away!! Total bummer since it was a HUGE incentive to come here. Hannaford is right next door and the things I like better about them is they tend to have better vegetarian options as well as fresh oats, grains, fruits, nuts etc that you can dispense at whatever amounts you like. Their commitment to organic offerings also seems to be stronger there. The workers at Shaws are all generally nice except for the fact that if I am with my boyfriend when I am shopping, we inevitably have to bag our groceries. I don't know if they assume that because you have a guy with you, you will be fine, but that always irks us. It's one of those things that I like to not have to deal with when I am spending a ton of money and it is also something I have become accustomed to not doing...I mean, I don't bag my clothing when I am purchasing it from a store.... Plus, they are usually much faster and more efficient at it. But on the whole, Shaws is a good place to shop and it is clean, well lit and offers pretty much everything you need. read more

This place is gross. The parking lot, immediate outside of the store and the inside of the store by the entrance is absolutely littered with garbage and debris. Litter that's dirty enough that you can tell it's been there a while. The flooring of the store in various places is a mess too. A floor board in the natural food aisle is straight up missing! Customer service is sub-par. Hannaford employees are much more friendly and polite by comparison. read more

Big, clean store. Produce goes bad quickly, is frequently bad on the shelves, and no store has so frequently rung up things at the wrong price than this Shaws. There are a few things I buy here, but I go to Market Basket for everything else. read more

I really wanted to like this location because I live close and got trapped up in that damn monopoly game, but their meat is not fresh. Purchased beef and chicken from this location, it went bad and smelled within 2 days of it sitting in my refrigerator. Customer service took it back and apologized, but that wasn't the first time it has happened. Every time I have been here the trash can is over filled, trash on the floor and overall is very unsanitary. Management needs to read these reviews and make some serious changes. I will be shopping at the Portsmouth location from now on. Gave this location another shot but I'm even more disappointed then before. My cart had bird crap all over it and I didn't realize until it was half full, trash spewed all over the parking lot and entrance, little to no quality produce. I'm seriously done. I watched a disheveled man sampling food from the Salad Bar with the same fork over and over again. I went to the shift manager to complain but got nothing regarding a solution. I called the store manager the next day who informed me that they cannot have someone stand by the salad bar all day to watch people. I told her that they could simply install a video camera with a monitor by the customer service area and a sign warning people that they are on video but she did not want to hear it. I will never eat out of that salad bar again. read more

If you want to pay far more than you do for an identical product in Market Basket, then Shaw's will love you. Hannaford is overpriced, but Shaws is out of sight! A total ripoff. UPDATE, April 2018. I only come here if I need something that another store is out of. It's always dead so you can get in and out of there quickly, which is the only good thing about the place. The prices are too high and I'm amazed they've managed to stay in business with the nearby Hannaford and Market Basket. read more

I have been shopping here for years, great customer service while checking out! Great quality products. Although we have other supermarkets close by, we chose shaws as it has better quality products, sure you might not find the most selection as one reviewer said, which I agree, but I think they strive in customer service rather than other supermarkets. read more

There are only a handful of reasons to go to Shaws Dover, NH. Having worked for them too I have the inside scoop. The pizza sauce, Signature, is the best-chunks of tomatoe, and parmesan in the sauce, I rate it-stock up in case they run out. The fried chicken, even off sale, but a steal at 8pc. for $4.00 when on sale, who makes a fried breast and sells it for $1.50, not KFC. Linda in the deli, well she makes my day. The other managers-moody to rude. Got a leftover turkey around November and it was , reduced by $13.00, marked Fresh/frozen. I asked the manager about it-was it fresh, or frozen? Well he was fit to be tied, and offered no insight (different exp. dates). He also works in Sanford and carries the attitude across state lines with him. And third, in the category of best hot dogs-again Signature Select-best in show , best in class (not my rating). The workers show the stress of too much work, not enough time. I compare the dairy to the one at BJ's-at Shaws the guy runs all day, rotating, stocking and no doubt covering for the receiver, and it shows, but I've known him 20 years if not more. Too bad the Portsmouth Shaws by water country closed, as did many others. But Mckinnons , now in Portsmouth, took over the space nicely, none the worse for wear. And so, with the upward spiral in pricing, still the leader in the grocery business has to be the Tewksbury based chain, but they too got a little cheeky with me. When I did grocery resets for the chain the customers came to me with questions, though I was not an employee (of Shaws) and I knew the store better than many. So enjoy your niche, Shaws, and hang in there. read more

When I was checking out, the cashier Carolyn noticed my bacon wasn't vacuum sealed and off looking, but they fetched me a new one. Then when I cooked the Chinese brand sausages I bought the next day, I cut them open to discover odd holes and thick, ribbed grubs. Maggots! I always buy these sausages, they do NOT look like that. Not shopping here again after I fetch my refund tomorrow. I am so furious. I will never shop at this store again. I bought some aleve here and the price tag said 7.99 I notice while I was waiting for my ride whom was already enroute that they charged me 21.99 this seemed very high I was planning to return it after I put away my groceries. I lost my receipt during the trip home I called and they were unwilling to look up my transaction or provide any alternative options. Guess I am stuck with the most expensive bottle of aleve. The worst place to shop. I bought blueberry muffins, 5 blueberries in a muffin. They suck, Period. Suck
