I went grocery shopping at Shaw's in Carver today as I normally do because it's the closest store to where I live. Once I finished checking out (my purchase was over $280 as it is most weeks I shop here), I noticed the $20 from a previous visit's promotion was not taken off of my purchase. (The promotion from the previous week was, purchase "2 PediaSure and receive $10 off your next purchase". This was promoted on a sticker on the shelving under the PediaSure. I purchased 4 PediaSure and after my purchase I checked my receipt and there was nothing on it with a coupon or discount so I assumed it would go directly on my rewards account, Just For U, that I had used.) I returned to the bagger who I believe is a supervisor and asked her about it. She was very friendly and said she didn't know about the promotion and directed me to customer service. I went to customer service and explained the situation of not receiving the discount. She said (rudely) she doesn't know the promotion and I would have to show her what it is, and I need to go get the sign. I left my groceries, went to the children's section and got the sticker from the shelf and brought it to her. She read it and asked for my receipt from last week. I explained to her that I didn't have it as I thought it was going to go directly on my digital rewards. (Before I continue, trust me I understand I need a receipt but two things: 1. Every time there is a discount, coupon, or reward it has been added to my reward digitally. 2. I was standing there with an overflowing cart of food that I had just purchased, so clearly, I spend money.) Once she said tha,t I asked to talk to a manager. Yes, I was getting aggravated at this point because I had ice cream melting and I was dealing with a rude customer service person. The manager (who I will not name is this review) came over who I recognized from the week before (I'll end with that story). I explained to her the situation and showed her the sticker from the shelf. Her words to me were, "This tells me nothing". I then said, "well this is your sign that you have on the PediaSure". She leaves me and walks over to the PediaSure and grabs a can. She rings it in and shows me that it took $10 off on the receipt and gives you a $10 coupon at the bottom of the receipt. I told her I didn't get either of those and asked why there was a total of $20 one PediaSure purchase when the sticker clearly says, "$10 off your next purchase". She asked for my receipt from the previous week again and I told her again I didn't have it and thought it was going to be added digitally. She said nothing about giving me the coupon so I said, "return all my groceries" that I had just purchased. I started to go through the bags to look for the receipt. She left and came back and I said to her, "You'd rather me return this $300 order than give me my $20 coupon?" She then said to me in her rude demeanor that she had the whole time, "I was going to give it to you, but you didn't stop talking." I said, "You told me about the deal, showed me the coupon, stopped talking and never mentioned giving me the coupon until I said I was going to return everything." She then went off to print the second coupon. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Shaw's again. Well, I'll use my $20 coupon and then I won't be coming back.
Story from previous week. We're in the middle of COVID-19 so I was waiting to be called to a line. The above manager was standing in front of me. A gentleman was using the self-checkout line and needed help. She went over and helped him then turned around and said, "men." Then looked at a customer in line and said, "It's always men who are the problems, woman never ask questions." She also made a reference to how since this pandemic, men have been shopping more and the problems she has had and cannot wait for it to be woman again. read more
