Aldi is a relatively new addition to the greater Plymouth area. I won't kid you: like all new grocery stores, Aldi takes some getting used to. It's smaller and it's laid out differently than most other local grocers. But it's worth taking the time to figure out. The prices are insanely good. Every time I went there was in response to an item in an ad. The items were nonexistent. "We may get more in later in the week " Nope. Not a fan of offbeat brands stored in cardboard boxes. It just never had that sparkly cleanliness factor going for it. What works for some people doesn't work for others. read more

Good all around Aldi. Shelves were stocked despite the weekend rush. I even found the rose shaped ice creams! Parking is aplenty but people can get a bit aggressive with trying to nab that "spot". I always forget, no bags, so bring your own bags or purchase a tote bag at the front. One cashier, one stocker but check out went quickly. Love that they allow cashiers a seat. read more

I'm not ashamed to admit that I went to two Aldis on the same day. Both were new to me so I had to investigate! This was located with a lot of restaurants and shops just off of the highway in Plymouth. It appeared pretty new and had wide aisles but some of the displays were not put together well and products were on the floor. It was extremely busy and crowded when we stopped in (which is odd because maybe 2 hours later we went to another location that was totally relaxed). I found it hard to browse and felt somewhat hurried since the crowded store was getting to me. They did have some good deals like $1.29 for blueberries. The line actually went pretty fast despite the long line. This location had two lanes open which definitely helped move things along. Great spot to pick up harder to find and interesting items at cheap prices. I recommend going on a quieter day as Saturday around lunch was mobbed. read more

This store is so.... weird. And overhyped. After hearing all the food bloggers rant and rave about Aldi, I finally decided to venture out to the Plymouth location. I eat a whole foods, plant-based diet and I try to buy as much organic as possible. I had read online that Aldi was full of healthy, organic, vegan/vegetarian items, so I was super excited to check it out. My experience was a bit of a let-down. What I Liked: Convenient location for South Shore people, lots of parking (sidenote: the "quarter-in-quarter-out" cart "rental" policy makes for a really clean parking lot -- no random carts rolling around or taking up spaces!), competitive prices (on average, about 10-30 cents less than other area supermarkets). What I Didn't Love: 1. Imbalance of quality. About 25% of the store's selection is good quality, organic groceries. The other 75% of the store is poorer quality junk food. If you're throwing a party, this would be a great place to stop, but it's not so great for everyday health-conscious people. 2. The checkout process. They should really post some signs or something, because it's confusing. Basically, the cashier rings up your items and moves them into a separate cart... and then you're supposed to push THAT cart to the "bagging tables" and bag all your own stuff. I didn't know that, and no one (or sign) bothered to explain that to me, so I just frantically bagged all my own groceries during and immediately after the transaction. The cashier gave me a side eye like I had done something wrong. I mean, I guess I did? Point blank: Don't go here alone! Bring someone with you who can bag the groceries as the cashier rings them in. Oh, and don't forget to bring your own bags. They literally do not have any bags. 3. Lack of consistency with products. Most of the Aldi products I had seen online were not available at this location. I will probably not go back to Aldi for several months, if not years. I can get similar and better quality groceries at other local stores, even if it does cost a few dollars more per trip. If you live within 5 miles of Plymouth, bring a friend and check it out. Everyone else, just stick to the Stop'n'Shops and Ocean State Job Lots of the area. read more

Psyched to have found an ALDI on the South Shore! It's a great simple shop stop for organic, healthier-for-you foods at a fraction of the price of Whole Foods. To explain ALDI to those have never been: it's a great place to buy essential grocery items; think meat, cheese, bread, milk, veggies, frozen meat/veggies/meals, pantry items. If you're looking for something particular (either ingredient or brand), it's unlikely you can count on it to be here. If you just need the basics-- organic/non-GMO/grassfed/antibiotic free, to boot-- you can certainly find it here, on the cheap. There's some name-brand stuff, but mostly you'll find locally farmed meats (and veggies), as well as brands you've never heard of (but again, good quality stuff). Bring a quarter and your own reusable shopping bags. ALDI saves by not hiring staff to bag groceries and fetch shopping carts from the parking lot. That's on you-- well, all of us really. The quarter allows you to use a shopping cart, you'll get it back when you bring the cart back to the front of the store. Reusable shopping bags are a great idea, given our current environmental concerns; but those slacking can buy reusable bags (or plastic, for those inclined) in the store. This particular store often has cardboard boxes for clients to put groceries in, too. My two small complaints are: 1) that when it rains, all of the carts are soaking wet. I don't recall if there's a roof over where the carts are stored (outdoors), which made for an unpleasant-- and wet-- shopping experience. 2) getting into the ALDI section of the parking lot is a serious brain puzzle. Who the hell designed the parking lots for this shopping center?! Pierre de Fermat?! I hope there's plans to fix this. ALDI is a wonderful grocery store for those of us who are eco-minded, interested in investing in good-for-our-bodies foods, while supporting an eco-friendly business. A win for me. read more

ALDI. is the only grocery store I have shopped at after all of this began. Today I made my way through ALDI trying to follow all social distancing recommendations made my way through check out and out the door too unload when the employee out front taking carts ran out and gave me my wallet that I had dropped! I tried giving him a 20$ tip but he refused. I did not get his name but he has red hair and a beard and was working this afternoon. Aldi's has incredible prices, probably the lowest prices of any supermarket I've been to. We paid $1.99 for French Fried Onion Rings, most other stores charge around $3. Canned Ravioli's are about 65 cents. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. If you want to save money on groceries Aldi's is the place to go. To reduce costs, they charge you a quarter to use a shopping cart that you get back when you put the cart back and they charge you for bags (6 cents I think). We bring out own bags. All in all we love shopping at Aldi's. read more

I have been shopping at Aldi's in Plymouth since they opened. It is a great store. The staff, especially Helen, is so helpful and friendly. Considering it is a learning curve to shop there and that customers take that out on the cashiers, the staff still remains friendly and professional. A+ read more

Clean, wide aisles, good selection. Don't expect to go in looking for a specific item of a specific brand, but it's a great place to stock up on basics. Even though there were only 2 registers open, they scan items LIGHTNING fast and you move on to bag your own stuff at another counter. The whole process is very efficient. Some prices are fairly similar to your local supermarket, but others are definitely a steal and worth the 40 min drive it took us to get here. We expected it to be absolutely packed on a Saturday afternoon, but were pleasantly surprised when it wasn't. read more

I've been hearing about Aldi for a couple years now from some of my friends who live in other parts of the country or Canada. I was very excited when they were bringing this to a location near me. I've been there twice now and I'm less than impressed. It feels like the local food pantry in there. I don't see a lot of healthy organic things like I thought they were supposed to have. It looks like mostly processed sugary snacks and other junk and slightly wilted vegetables. I did find a bag of gluten-free pretzels which I thought I would give her a whirl and found myself at the only open register behind two people with full carriages. Honestly the best store brand potato chips of any store and only 1.49 a bad. Great deals on produce but you have to hit it at the right time. Cucumbers are the best. All the trail mix you can imagine. Great cheeses and meats. read more
