Nice soft pita, loads of sweet sauce, tender juicy flavorful donair meat and fresh tomatoes, onions and banana peppers. Service was fast considering it was in the lunch rush of a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the staff was very attentive and friendly. The menu had a lot of options and was reasonably priced. I ordered the Veggie Benedict, which was delicious! Sigh... I tried to give this place a real chance but so far no dice…read more The first time I came the place was closed or at least looked closed even though it was during business hours. My second time, the sign still said closed but the door opened so I wandered in. I was greeted by a very friendly family who apologized and turned on the lights and changed the sign on the door to open - they had forgot - no problem. They told me they had been in the location for a little over a year and are going to be adding items like samosas soon - Great! The prices were slightly higher than I'm used to paying at my 2 favorite places: Famous Joe's and Simply Donairs but that's not a deal breaker for me. I ordered the supreme donair (larger than regular) and I think it was $9 plus $1 for cheese. The meat was taken out of either a fridge or freezer and cooked in the pizza oven. The donair was made to my specifications and then placed in the pizza oven - melted the cheese nicely. I selected "a little tzatziki and a little sweet sauce." Unfortunately, there was still too much sauce and too much dill in the tzatziki for my liking. The Donair was not the slightest bit greasy but I found it lacking in meat. I mean, when you pay $9 for a donair you expect there to be a fair amount of meat. The owners offered me a complimentary pop and were oh so kind. I really wanted to love this place and make it my new favorite mom and pop. So once again, today I came by for the third time at 115pm on a Thursday afternoon. And lo and behold they were closed AGAIN even though the sign on the door says they opened at 11am. I actually got out of my car and checked to see if the door was locked in case they had left the lights off but no one was home :-( We may give them another try but I just can't see why when we have two other AWESOME options: Famous Joe's and Simply Donair in the area for a lower price point. Grandin Pizza and Donair - I hope things work out for you and maybe in the future you will win me back. But for now, I'm sticking to my old faithfuls!

The balance of each meat used is perfect on the super fresh bun and honestly fills up my soul and tummy. The lady who (I think) owns the place is kind of all no-fuss in that she just wants your order so she can make it and say bye. All good w me, not every interaction needs a lengthy convo. Considering there's only a couple of chairs in here at the counter/pub height thing on the window, I can see why she's not really keen to keep people in there for long. They can get busy on lunch, as (sadly) their amazing sammies are becoming more well known. They sell soup and pasta as well, but I honestly just get the same thing every time I'm there. I booked reservations for tonight and when you walk in it's warm and extremely inviting. The last location they were at I found was very cold and uninviting so this is a huge plus for them. Tonight we ended up going with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon which was a great pairing with our appetizer and dinner. The appetizer we went with was the sausage crostini which was wonderful - I did find it odd that it was 5 pieces of bread which we had to decide who would get the last piece and we both wanted it. I had the chipotle rose with penne and chicken and it was great. Nice and spicy when I think of chipotle. My husband had the $44 lamb and pesto cream penne. He said the pasta was phenomenal but the lamb he said was not good in anyway. He said it was extremely bland. Not even pepper or salt to season it. Which sucks as it is one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. We will stick to just pasta if we came again.
