On 03-07-12, I went to see Dr Julia Kahan for shoulder tendinitis ). I had to wait for an hour…read more That was no coincidence, this pattern was the same for the next four appointments. The secretaries have been trained to book as many patients as possible every day. Their main concern is, how much money they will make every day, instead how good is the care that they will provide to their patients.
I was expecting that I would see an intellectual lady, and instead, I met a soulless girl, with hair till her waist, that reminded me, of my high school years. I said, oh not again. I started wondering, how is this no-personality going to help me, and in hindsight I was right.
I requested a cortisone injection, but she rejected my idea. Dr Kahan took an X-Ray and she recommended to go for physiotherapy. I was naive and I believed her. I thought she knows better than me, because (as she said) cortisone is not good for my body. At that time, I did not know the game she was playing with me and with other patients to make lots of money from my insurance and from me.
She approved eight visits for physical therapy and she wanted to see me again after that, to report my progress. After I finished the eight treatments, I went back to see her on 03-23-12 and she was asking me, to tell her the percentage of my progress. I told her that I have improved about 40% and then she approved another eight visits.
The same story again, after I finished the extra visits, I went back to see her again. I told her, that my improvement is very small, maybe 50% and the pain is still there. She approved more visits to physical therapy and when I went back to her on 05-11-12, I requested again a cortisone shot and this time she agreed, but when she gave the shot into my shoulder, I did not feel any pain. I started wondering if she put water instead of cortisone. When I told her that, I can not use my arm, she mentioned again her usual mantra. "You need more aggressive therapy. I will approve for you another eight visits"
I went to see her again on 07-18-12 and on 08-29-12 between treatments and my answer again was that I have improved 60%. At one point I was ready to tell her, that in a few years I will have reached 100% and by then, you will be ready to buy the latest Mercedes model.
It took me all these months to realize that she was manipulating me. I had total 5 visits with her and 30 visit with the physiotherapists and I was still in pain. I started thinking that if she is taking commissions from the physical therapy plus so much money from my insurance and all the co-payments from me, and she gives similar treatments to other patients, she must make a fortune every year. From what I read on yelp, I realized that I am not the only one that gets the run around. This doctor has the worst reviews ever. Everybody feels that she chose this profession to make big bucks, no matter what or how.
Next year, my arm was getting worse. I was in so much pain that I could not sleep during the night, because of the burning sensation that I felt. On 03-07-13,
I decided to go to see another orthopedic, Dr Dossick. He sent me for an X-Ray, and with the second visit, on 03-14-13, he gave me a cortisone shot. With this injection, I felt a strong pain in my shoulder area and he told me to rotate my arm ten times, for the medicine to spread all over. The next two-three days the pain went away and I could move my arm again. That was a wake up call for me. Why I did not go, direct to him? Why did I not search on Yelp about Dr Julia Kahan methods, before I went to her?
Now let's compare the honest diagnosis, from Dr Dossick, (2 visits plus
1 X-Ray), with the sly methods of Dr Kahan, 35 visits total, for zero results. How much money did I spend? More than a thousand dollars. How much money did my insurance pay? They have my records and they know way better than me. Who is using who, Dr Kahan?
Why should I pay so much money, to a doctor that has no bedside manners, zero personality and in my opinion, she is using underground methods to make money and basically she has nothing to offer, besides referrals to physical therapy?
Who is going to compensate me, for all this mental anguish? How would I ever recover, all the lost time from work, all the co-payments, all the driving around and all those false hopes that I went through with her devious guidance?
I guess for some doctors, the immoral lifestyle is the norm. At least I reported her to my insurance
Now let her hire and pay "professional writers" to compile for her, five stars reviews to offset the one stars
