Trying to phone Shaw/Rogers for assistance is hopeless. Our internet for some reason slows down at night.

Since Roger's took over from Shaw the service has been terrible When you phoned Shaw for help you could leave your number How come Rogers can't provide the same service. Old people can't always do stuff on line. Disgusted. Gave up after holding on phone for hour and constantly being told to goon line read more

We subscribed to Telus in August 2023. it is now January23, 2024 and we still have drop-outs. We still have to use the TV manufacturer's remotes to start both of our TVs, then switch to the Telus remotes. I offered to pay Telus to have someone come out just in case it is something I am doing. After 2 weeks await, the service person is to arrive tomorrow. They cannot tell me whether it will be morning or afternoon. I must wait with my thumb up my *** all day in the hopes that I don't get a call from the service person at 4:30 in the afternoon advising me that they are stuck in traffic and would like to schedule for another day. THAT has happened before. Done. I'm out. read more

We have been Shaw customers for 20 years and that shouldn't butter no parsnips and it definitely doesn't now that they've changed to Rogers. They have made changes to our services, made us accept the equipment (even though the new equipment doesn't have the same capabilities as what Shaw provided. My wife Who has Short term memory loss can't learn to operate the new remote) and the costs keep going up. I went in to see them today to get my bill explained. They said all they do in there was sign up new customers. I asked to cancel my account and was told "We only sign up new accounts. I had spent all W.E. on the phone and internet trying to make sense out of Rogers to no avail. Many hours waiting on the phone and computer. When I came home today I asked my son to help me and he spent 3 hours trying to talk to the help desk on both the phone and the computer. Listening to the lady on the phone how there would be some changes but they were there to "Help". Definitely no help. Whatever you do do not sign with Rogers!!!!!!! Nothing is better than Rogers. They may be there for Shaw and Rogers but they don't give a damn for their Customers. The CRTC let's them do this to customers. Thankyou for listening they don't!!!!! read more

Shaw is the worst. Slow internet unless you spend more than 125$ a month and want to be in a contract you can't get out of. Save yourself the effort having to switch over when you are disappointed and just get Telus instead. At least they have quality high speed for a reasonable amount of money. read more

Long hours have come and gone and yet the problem remains. After spending 5 hours speaking with several Shaw managers my bill/invoice was corrected at the beginning of March 2022. 26 days later, March 27th, my account is again incorrect with money taken from my account with no clear explanation. Another 3 hours of phone conversations speaking with customer service agents who cannot explain to me what was done with my account and why no figures "add up" or "make sense" and so it's again back to demanding complete account information so I can tell Shaw what was done wrong. Please; if you intend to become a Shaw subscriber; kept your financial records and calculator handy because you will need them time and time again. read more

I have always been a Shaw customer. But I have to be honest- over the last few years I've been a Shaw customer that has been content (we would not use the word 'happy') to pay Shaw a bit more for their bundles in return for not ranting and raving about internet outtages, pixelation and long customer service waits with Telus. However I've started hearing that there are improvements on the dark side... and have a few friends now that are actually happy with their service... and I have started to covet their savings and crisp picture quality... So I did some research online- bundles, comparisons, techie reviews, user reviews... but wanting to be loyal- I called Shaw. 1. Shaw indicated that they do not match pricing with Telus as it is a different business model. (I'm a business major by the way- that's fancy talk for we have given up trying to match prices with a different model even though it's for the same consumer. Business nonsense). 2. They also claimed that both have the same number of HD Channels. Well... true and not true. It's true that Telus makes it appear that they have more channels when in truth they are the same channel just with a a different regional feed and therefore 8/10 they are showing the exact same programming/show on multiple channels. But 2/10 the programming/show IS different. There are some regional shows that are not available in other areas and allowing Shaw to choose when to shift from one regional feed to another *does* and *has* cut me off from a show on a occasion. Nothing earth shattering but I thought I'd mention it. 3. They pointed out that Telus' pricing was unstable and always changing. True- it's called promotions and consumer attraction. I don't think though that you should quip 'You can always rely on our [higher] prices to remain unchanged' on any posters though... I mean... come on Shaw... you can do better than that. Or are you content with the marketshare of disgruntled Telus customers? What happens if they start becoming less disgruntled?? They are starting to sound decidedly less disgruntled with the new Optik TV and major upgrades done in June... so hang on let me run this through my head one last time here: Move to Telus: $170/mo (without promos) PVR rental included in above price No contract Of course- very interested in your business Stay with Shaw: $190/mo (without promos) +$175 Purchase of HD Digital Box or $350 Purchase of PVR No contract Apathetic as to whether I stay or go Hmmmm... Me thinks I would be foolish not to try the OptikTV and see if it is better, and therefore the savings worth it along with the PVR addition. I won't get a contract (so I can nail Telus to the wall if they do suck and come back to Shaw). But either way- look out Shaw. Telus is starting to raid your basket. I've been happy to be a Telus-hater up until now and here I am switching. I'll update my review with the final result. I've been waiting for Shaw to come and setup the new broadband 50 that I was supposed to get in September, but they forgot to hook it up and bring the new router. Nothing was ever mentioned and until someone pointed out that I'm still not upgraded.......Hmmmmm. Called Shaw many many times, waited hours on end (no joke, I'm waiting again!). After numerous attempts was able to get ahold of a nice lady at Shaw who knew what she was doing.. The last four people didn't and it was funny when someone in the background is telling the rep what to say and how to respond to my inquiries. I was able to confirm what my brother got for his promotion and I was able to get the phone promotion and my upgrade to the cable that was supposed to have happened months ago!!! Now I'm waiting for an appointment long overdue, nobody showed up and I'm still on hold. Shitty shitty shitty service. Even their chat won't work! Telus you are really looking good right now. I am thinking of having everything I have on Shaw moved out and over to another company becuase of the bad service. At my other house, I had problems there too! Right now I am not your friend. Poooh! read more

As difficult as it is to even wrap my own brain around the concept, my recent experience with Shaw has made me a fan. Despite the fact that the fellow trimming our trees had been shown multiple times exactly where all of our utility cables were, he decided at 6:30pm last night to slice right through them. $%*&! Shaw fortunately has 24hr tech support service so we could get through to someone who might be able to help. Normally waiting on hold with the hope of speaking to someone in Bangalore would have me raging, but I was feeling slightly contrite over the circumstances so Shaw earned a pass on this one. Twenty minutes later I was on the phone with Steve in Tech Support. No, Steve wasn't in Bangalore, he was local! He also seemed genuinely sympathetic to our predicament and was extremely pleasant to deal with. He promised that he would work with both the Service Dept. and the Installation Dept. to see who could restore our service first. You can not imagine how suprised I was at 8:00am this morning when I answered the phone and it was Steve from Shaw telling us that we would have a service tech at our home at 9:00am. At precisely 9:00am, Jim, another very pleasant Shaw employee, pulled up and got to work. He not only replaced the line from the utility pole to our house, he tidied up the box attached to our house and replaced some corroded junctions at the pole. Amazing! If Shaw can do something to reel in their exhorbitant charges for cable and internet and also do something to reduce the ridiculous waits for phone support they would earn 5 stars from me. read more

Have had an account with Shaw for 12 years in Alberta with no issues. Just moved to BC a month ago and today I received my first bill for about $400 with a 'balance carried forward' - guessing its about 2 months worth of service. Called customer care who is not able to provide my with my 'previous bill' which I have not received nor able I able to even get online as I was told to do. I don't have an issue paying what I owe, but certainly didn't expect to get 1 bill a month after service for such a large amount with no for warning and no information on what the 'balance carried forward' is. Customer Care also advised that it is my responsibility to know when my bills are due - apparently the previous amount was billed 8 days after service started - no notice, no information was communicated, but I am just supposed to know that I suddenly owe?!?! Apparently customers are just expected pay whatever they chose to bill without supplying an invoice and then threatened that they may experience service interruptions (suspension) for not paying a bill I have not received and can't get access to - not a very effective threat with a unhappy customer. Customer service is definitely lacking and leaving a sour taste in my mouth!! WOW Shaw, way to go on the customer service, especially liked the threats because I am seeking a copy of a bill I never got and is not even shown on my online account - thinking there are other service providers in this area... read more

the biggest idiots everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! wasted my time.. at least 3 hours.. made me drive from vancouver to surrey for no reason when they could have solved my problem with a click of a button.. they then tried to bribe me with free PPV for their stupidity once they owned up to it!! but damn it.. theres no better options for a cable/internet combo.. so i'm stuck read more

Horrible. Very expensive internet, horrible customer service. Took me more than on hour to have an agent help me online, and another hour waiting on a call for customer service. read more

I couldn't be happier with Shaw. Friendly local customer service. My tech calls are NOT outsourced over seas and I'm supporting a local Canadian company. I've had a few issues over the many years I've had some issues, but it's a cable company of course it's a given to sometimes customers have issues. I've always been very satisfied with the service I've received and can only recall one outage that was caused by the construction during the Canada line. I'll continue to be a loyal Shaw customer as they don't have hidden contracts, are honest and have provided me with exceptional customer service. read more

I have used Shaw's Internet services for almost a year now. The only reason I used them as a service provider is because they are the only option in my area. I use the internet regularly, but let me tell you clearly: If I had to choose again between using Shaw or having no internet, I would not have internet access in the future. I paid $60 a month for atrociously low internet speeds (sometimes as low as a few bites/sec of download speed). Now the real problem arose when I tried to cancel my service. It took multiple phone calls to actually close my account. It in the end took them 3 weeks to close my account and now that I have moved, I am stuck paying for a service I can no longer access. Thanks Shaw. I will never give you my money ever again (and let's not forget about the pain in the ass of trying to return their modem to them in order to avoid being charged another $50!). read more

DO NOT EVER sign up for a contract with Shaw. We signed up for internet service on a contract, and then half way through the 2 years my husband was laid-off from work and we were forced to move across the province. When we moved into our new place and tried to transfer our service we found out that Shaw doesn't offer service there and they STILL charged us $180 for a cancellation fee to get out of the contract, even though they couldn't hold up their end of the deal and provide us with internet! They said that the contact states that "we agree to not move to an area that Shaw doesn't service" well... that's just sad because how could a person possibly foresee being laid-off and having to accept work where-ever it is available, regardless of Shaw's serviceable areas. Steaming mad.. and will NEVER sign up for any of their service again. read more

I just moved to al older house in Duncan BC and needed the whole deal; tv,internet, phone . Many rooms and a big house. A nice young man showed up by the name of Les. He assessed the situation and discussed with us the best way to approach the situation and then went about his (BIG) job of making it so. The job was neat and professional and very successful. Good job Les ! read more

They don't care about rewarding their current or long term customers, they only care about drawing new customers in to lock them into contracts and be stuck with their crappy service read more

The absolute worst internet I've ever had in my entire life - and I've traveled third-world countries and even lived up north with satellite internet. Their high-speed internet is slower than the speeds I get from creating a hotspot on my iPhone. I've called numerous times and am told the same thing they tell every human on earth "restart and wait 30seconds". Um, are you effing kidding me??? Gee I never thought of that! I've also been asked what kind of a computer I'm using, like as if I'm just an idiot and don't know I have a sh*tty computer. (I have a new iMac and new Macbook Pro). I've also been told to switch to another channel, which of course makes no difference, but the BEST suggestion ever - that I receive EVERY time, is "hardwire it". Are. you. effing. kidding. me. If this was 1980 that would be great advice, thanks. Macbooks don't even come with the OPTION to hardwire the internet because no one in their right mind should ever even have to do that with a laptop in this day and age when they are PAYING for high-speed wireless internet!!! It also cuts out completely at times and I'm forced to head to a local coffee shop and work on an unsecure network. I'm a designer and work from home and I can't even tell you how much money I've lost due to the time it takes to even refresh a page. Forget even trying to stream a vid or use Netflix! I also tried to cancel it altogether but I'm of course locked into a contract that I can't afford to buy out. I hope this helps someone to avoid making the mistake of signing up with Shaw and saves them a mountain of frustration. You're better off sending snail mail and visiting businesses in person; the time it takes to drive to a storefront and wait in line is still shorter than the time it takes to load a damn page. read more

They are like that, with you they try to bribe you. written several letters and no answers. They give you $9.95 for cable and same for internet for one year and both 2 months free and that means you pay 10months for the price each month and they end up billing you $100 plus. I think its a scam and if they cant honor it , they shouldnot advertise it. They have rude representatives too, they talk to you anyhow, had one hung up on me. Customer service sucks!!! read more

Absolute dispicable unprofessional company. I had my home phone, cell phone, cable tv, and internet with them for over 10 years. Then I got a better offer from Telus. I called Shaw to see if they would match or come close to the Telus offer. They offered me nothing. So I switched to Telus...very glad I did...and because I didn't pay my final Shaw bill by the end of the last month I still had them, they sent my account to a Collection company!!! because it was 3 days late. This was nothing but petty spite for switching to Telus. For that, I got a collection ding on my credit rating which knocked it down from Excellent to barely in the Good range. The worst kind of behaviour I've ever experienced from a company. I had been late a few days with my payment many times over the past 10 years with not a peep from them because I always paid up before the next bill arrived and then they pull this childish move just because I dumped their service. read more
