I stopped in the post office twice last week - first with Rachel, second with Valerie. Rachel was super helpful, she gave me some good information regarding shipping costs. She was very quick in handling the multiple packages i had brought in too! Valerie was quick in handing a straggler ship - my client actually received the item the very next morning. If you're like me, you hate those errands that require standing in lines. The DMV, waiting to print something at FedEx, and- sometimes the nastiest of them all- the post office. I try to stick to the status quo of saying "make the hard, simple". Of course, we're not talking plucking eyebrows or anything, but sometimes going to the post office leaves you with a headache and it's like they almost speak a different language. "Would you like extra insurance on your two-day shipping package?" I didn't even know packages had insurance until I moved out of the comfort of my parent's house where the seemingly hardest tasks were not even thought of. What makes the Shartel Station different is the simplicity. There's always an appropriate amount of people ready to help, and they explain everything to you as if you don't speak post office. They're not super charismatic, which is fine by me- they just do their job. I'm in and out in five minutes. It's also in a nice area. The parking lot just makes sense. There's always plenty of parking, it's not on a busy street, and it's relaxing. This is the best Post Office in OKC. The people that work here are so friendly, and really work hard at being efficient. Try and get Martha if you can, she is lovely and really funny too. Located near 50th and Shartel, it's much more convenient that Downtown and (maybe because it's small and in a neighborhood rather than right out on Hefner or one of the other big arteries,) it's never terribly busy. Even when there is a line, it moves quickly. I also like how polite and patient they are with the older customers the few times I've been there to observe that. When I see the postal workers be really gentle and kind to an older customer, it reinforces the fact that these folks really are public servants and deserve respect for providing an important service. read more

Some of these folks do not know the rules for mailing music & data CD's as has been substantiated by the local postmaster several times. The head office even printed me off a sheet of the postal code that allows for the mailing of a CD in a cardboard cover for .72, not $3.50, but I ran out and low and behold, I ran across two clerks who wanted to argue this again. It was on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the supervisor was out until Monday so I could not mail my items. Gotta go back and go through this again for the 3rd time this year. The Post Office 1 to 5 scale is unique in itself, expectations are never truly that high when one steps into a USPS office. However, the USPS at Shartel is really quite nice! There never seems to be a line, employees have always been helpful and courteous, they always have all envelopes/packages available, and parking is never a hassle. read more

I needed to mail some important documents without having to sell my first born, so I relied on my Yelp community once again. Alas, I was not aware of this small post office in NW Oklahoma City. The directions were spot on and I arrived at the U. S. Post Office a few minutes into my drive. It was clean and well organized and the staff quite friendly. I was in and out under five minutes. I can say I'm in and out of there in no time but the customer service is horrible. I've had good experiences with Valerie each time I've been. This particular day I had a lady by the name of Nevada and her attitude was the worst. One customer before me had her as well and walked out without any help because she was rude to her, then it was my turn and I asked a simple question and she rolled her eyes at me with a smart comment. read more

Completely unacceptable. Had a package supposed to arrive today, they changed the status online at 4:30 that no one was home to receive the package and that they had left a notice. I have been home all day solely to receive the package and there was no notice left, no knock on the door, no ring of the doorbell. Now, it's nearly 5 o'clock and the carrier has yet to return to the post office, so I cannot even pick my package up until tomorrow. Guaranteed that the delivery person just decided that they were done walking all the way to peoples' doors for the day and neglected to come to mine. If I had at least received SOME SORT of notice I would give benefit of doubt and assume that I some how missed them, despite being anticipatory of the package's arrival all day. This place is terrible. The worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. Don't expect cheery faces when you go here. I will never use this location again. The usps store off of Britton has superior customer service. I will drive out of my way to avoid the ugliness that greets you at the counter. Seriously who has time for such rude people. read more

I am new to the area. I don't know where the local post office is located. So on my way to work I spotted a mail truck with a post man sitting in it talking on his cell phone. So I pulled up right beside him so I could hand him two letters to be mailed. He was right beside me. He could clearly see I was patiently waiting for him to finish his call. I could tell it was a very personal call. I waited for over 15 minutes and he never even acknowledged me. I finally drove off, Now you have to understand that my window was right next to him. He knew I was there. The mere fact that I still by stamps to mail all of my bills and send cards in order to support the post office is more than most people do. I found this to be extremely rude. The only number I saw on the front of his truck was 9213300. This occurred about 10:15 on December 16th, 2014. On 13th street in Oklahoma City, OK.. I guess he has never heard of customer service. read more
