I was pretty anxious about my wedding day makeup-- I don't wear makeup regularly, and, as an Asian-American with monolid eyes, I'd had some horrible experiences as a bridesmaid with MUAs who didn't know how to work with my features. Sorry to be your first non-five star review, Sharon, but it's me, not you. It takes a lot for me to award 5 stars for a business, and I'm just not a make-up/hair person. But I will say that Sharon Park is worth your consideration for your hair and make up needs. She's responsive, timely, friendly, and affordable (for LA). The bride covered the travel fee, the assistant fee and one service (and tip) for each member of the bridal party. So for me, it was just $75 plus tip. And Sharon accepts Paypal, credit card, Venmo, so payment on the day of is easy. Our morning started quite early as we made table top space available and set up chairs with hopefully good enough lighting. Sharon arrived well in advance of the scheduled first girl's appointment so she could lay out her supplies. We showed up with clean dry hair, washed the night before, and bare faces. I'm not used to make up, so we went with a three (out of ten) for me - not sure what that means, still, but I was hoping for looking-like-myself-but-better, and I think she delivered. Poor her, though, she had to deal with my nearly invisible eyelashes and eyes that wanted to blink as she poked (okay, drew on the eyeliner) which I mentioned were deemed oily by my sister. I did buy a lipstick for the occasion, to allow me to reapply as needed, so at least we didn't have to go through the trouble of picking something that day. But I came out with the natural look I was looking for. Unfortunately, several hours later, I noticed some mascara on my lower lid where it ought not to be. Since it was still pre-ceremony, and dabbing did nothing, I had to scrape it off along with a touch of the foundation. Sharon did warn me that the mascara she was using would hold! I found Sharon on Yelp and I am so glad I did! Living in LA, EVERY girl needs an AFFORDABLE and on-call makeup artist for the occasional TV appearance, photo shoot, or DATE NIGHT! My wedding was planned for March 21, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV. As you all know, the Covid19 is rapidly spreading throughout the world. Each day something new happens. School closures, travel bans, quarantines, etc. As a health professional and bride, I had to make a difficult and quick decision (in a matter of minutes) to postpone my wedding for the safety of my family, guests and the world. (This decision was made 8 days prior to the wedding - before the ban of events of 50 or more). As a bride, we all know the last week of the wedding is very stressful... imagine including the Covid19 situation. Thankfully, all of my vendors in Vegas were accommodating and understanding in regards this uncontrollable situation. Even though all of my contracts were non-refundable, my vendors were able to give me a full refund or change their schedule to accommodate my postponed wedding date. They all sympathized with me in regards to this uncontrollable situation aka a "pandemic". However, I cannot say the same for Sharon. I was very excited to work with her because we had a great hair and makeup trial. Now, I am greatly disappointed. My wedding planner informed me that Sharon was unavailable on my new date (totally understandable) and was unwilling to refund my deposit because it was non-refundable. With that being said, I emailed her directly to ask if there's any way I can get a refund on my deposit due to the pandemic. At first, she did not want to give me a refund because it was non-refundable. Instead, she offered "partial credit for future services" After emailing back and forth, she failed to give me a full refund on my deposit. Her justification for the "partial deposit" was to reimburse her Vegas flight?? During this time, all airlines are providing refunds or flight credit. Therefore, there was no need for her to deduct the flight fare from the deposit. In the end, I am given a partial refund of my deposit when no services were provided by her part. Anyway, the principle is wrong. During a worldwide pandemic, people should be compassionate, kind and understanding. Sharon, if you are reading this, I don't need the other half of my money back. It's not about the money. It's the principle. I was so excited to work with you but sadly I am very hurt and disappointed in your lack of compassion in the situation I am in as a bride. Sharon was a great MUA to work with for my wedding in April 2017. I was looking for someone who knew how to work with Asian eyes and she was perfect. She was super responsive--every time I sent her an email, she replied within the day or the next day max. After my trial, I sent her detailed notes about how the hair and makeup was holding up throughout the day. She did not hesitate at all to take into account these concerns for the big day and even suggested ways to change my skincare routine to help maintain the smoothness of the airbrushed foundation. For the wedding, she and her assistant arrived early and started working right away on my bridesmaids. We had an extra hair service add-on that Sharon was flexible enough to accommodate. Everyone loved their looks that day. I had several people come up and tell me "#hairgoals" and the waves lasted all day. The touch-up kit she gave was very useful for keeping away shine and reapplying lipstick. It even became my de-facto emergency kit for my wedding and another friends wedding I was in the next weekend. What I liked was that she went over the kit instructions with my MOH so that it was one thing I didn't have to worry about during that busy day. Sharon is the bees knees and I couldn't have asked for better hair and makeup for my wedding. I was looking for a hair and makeup artist that was able to work with my Asian features and my fine hair. From the first trial you could tell she knew what she was doing. I booked her early on the process because I knew she was the one! After booking I believe during the year or so I wanted changed my updo look and little bit of the makeup and voiced it to Sharon. She was able to accommodate all those things without hesitation. The day of she was right on time and was able to with her assistant do the looks for the bridesmaids, me, my mother and flower girl and cousin. They all looked great. Personally I wanted to look like myself but better for my wedding and I believe the look achieved it...boho chic to me. Found out about Sharon Park through Yelp. I was looking for hair and makeup artist for my engagement photoshoot. What convinced me to go with her was seeing her portfolio of natural makeup looks. It was easy to communicate with her via email. I was able to confirm an appointment after 2-3 emails. She accepts Paypal payment for the deposit, which is a plus. On the day of the hair and makeup session, Sharon came on time. Sharon is easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable. She asked what kind of makeup and hair style I wanted, and also the location of the photoshoot. I told her that my engagement photoshoot would be at a beach. So to make sure that the hairstyle will stay on. For the makeup, I wanted an eye makeup look that was not too dark. She prepped my skin before starting the makeup process. It took her 1.5 hours to do my makeup and hair. She also helped my fiancé to style his hair and put some light makeup. Her makeup skills are great. I did not have any complain about the finished look. The eye makeup made my eyes stand out, and was flattering. The hairstyle of a romantic undo, was what I had hoped. My eye makeup looked nice and stayed on well all day - for more than 10 hours. My hairstyle also stayed on, even with the wind at the beach. She adequately put more than enough hairpins to keep it in place. She was kind enough to provide some pins and blotting papers just incase I need it for touch up. My first yelp review ever...but worth it for Sharon! I've had my hair and makeup done by her twice now. The first time, she did the bride/bridal party makeup for my brother's wedding. She put us all at ease and listened to each of our requests for what/how we wanted our makeup/hair to be. Everything turned out beautifully!!
