This review is for the office, not my individual physician…read more My husband + I had gone to this office for a few years. Lately, I'd say, the last 2 years, it has been consistently difficult to reach this office via phone. There have been multiple times that we've called and gotten busy signals. Not a voice mail, not a phone tree ("press 2 to request a refill" and no answering service. It hasn't just happened once or twice, but several times, as recently as last week. Specifically, last week I needed to make an appointment for a sudden non-emergent matter. I called at 1:15pm and approximately every 5 minutes after and got busy signals each time. I must have called about 15 times. Finally, over an hour later, the phone rang thru and someone answered (again, no phone tree, which is odd) The phone problem has gotten so frustrating that I had my husband switch doctors and he now goes to another office. I've stayed with this office because, luckily, I am in relatively good health and rarely need to see the Dr. (However that of course will change and I'll reevaluate things at some point) The staff members are friendly and pleasant however, they often fail to follow procedure: There have been several times the nurse has called me in (from the waiting area) and did not confirm my full name or date of birth. I've noticed many nurses (workers?) without ID badges. Who is this person taking my weight and blood pressure? Badges should be worn conspicuously. People who work in healthcare should know to check for 2 patient identifiers to prevent errors. The waiting area is small: there are several rows of seats but once people are sitting in those seats, it is hard to get around. When you are called in, you stand up and have to make your way thru the rows of chairs. The waiting area has a large flat-screen TV and some magazines. The office is in a large, modern medical building. The building has a lab and X-ray services. There is plenty of parking. The location is scenic with lots of trees and grassy areas. Seriously, this office has to fix their phone issues and reiterate to staff about confirming patients' identities.

The only reason why I'm not giving this 5 stars is because the downside to Dr. Zelis being thorough is that he runs behind for appointments. To avoid a really long wait, I schedule my appointments for the beginning or end of the day. Also, if you call his staff for a prescription, be prepared to call again to make sure they sent it to the pharmacy.

Family Practice Center of Wadsworth - As you can see, this email makes no mention that I needed to confirm the appointment or face cancellation. In fact, it says the opposite!

I have been going to the Family Practice Center of Wadsworth for 30 years, and I have always been…read morehappy with my treatment. All the doctors are fantastic and really care. They are very knowledgeable and take their time to make sure the treatment you get for whatever is ailing you is right. It's super easy to communicate with my doctor through their app, too! That's great for me when I think of something late at night, which I usually do! I just can't recommend them highly enough!

I wasn't home at the time, but I heard the voicemail and was asked to call back. When I returned the call the following day, the office was closed for the Christmas holiday. Then it was the weekend. I assumed this wouldn't be a big deal and that I'd be able to answer the questions in person at my 8:50 appointment this morning. Today, I walked in and the woman at the front desk informed me that the appointment had been cancelled. "Uh, no," I said. I'm a student and I live out-of-state full time. This was my only chance to see a doctor on my parents' health care plan (without a co-pay) while home for the holidays. No way did any of us cancel the appointment. "You didn't verbally confirm the appointment so we cancelled it," the woman said. "It's our policy." Funnily enough, this policy was never communicated in the voicemail I received, in the email correspondences I received (attached here for your reference), or at any point other than this morning. If that's really the policy, fair enough. Make that clear to your patients so we can act accordingly. I asked to speak with someone else, hoping to explain my circumstances. This second woman was incredibly rude. She said: "You need to find a primary care physician in the state where you live. What are you going to do if you have a sore throat?" First, how is that any of the staff's business? Someone at the front desk of a doctor's office is not going to tell me about which doctors I should see and where I should see them. She doesn't know anything about the number of doctors in my area covered by my out-of-state insurance. Completely inappropriate. The staff was rude, unprofessional, and overstepped boundaries when conversing with me. The practice policies are unclear and poorly communicated. The front desk is supposed to function as a face for the practice itself, and if this is any indication about how the practice treats its patients, perhaps it is for the best that my appointment today was cancelled. I had a choice about which doctors to see, and I specifically chose Wadsworth Family. I will not choose them again.

I was prescribed by Josephine Doughman Wegovy in early 2023 and have been dedicated to the medication since. Starting on January 1st, 2024 Wegovy was no longer carried under my insurance. I began messaging Josephine about the issue and calling the office. Josephine tried ONCE to submit a prior authorization while in 2023, she sent multiple to ensure I was prescribed some sort of weight loss medication. Something changed with this office and doctor, I can tell you I was yelled at and "kicked out" of the practice by Paula, the office manager. While on the phone I tried to speak and Paula said verbatim, "we do not need to hear from you". During this exchange I said "please ensure the medication is prescribed and I will pay out of pocket for a month while I find another doctor". Paula responded with "I dont know if Josephine will do that". In essence, this is medication withholding and abandoning a client which is major cause for a report. While yes, Josephine responded to my messages, all 4 voicemails to their nurse line were not returned. In this case, a phone call was not only requested, it should have been required. While I understand being busy, we are talking about medication that I was told by Josephine to not stop "cold turkey" and to at the very least ween off the drug. Josephine had no interest in this once my insurance stopped covering the drug. In fact, she would not try Mounjaro or Ozempic because they are for "diabetes" but she forgets, she prescribed both to me last year for weight loss but was denied. To date, I have never once been diagnosed with diabetes... Seems to me that Josephine has taken on too many patients and in fact, the entire practice has. I share the same sentiment as others, this practice is not worth the time, energy or mental distress. I will be reporting the entire issue to the board as of today. UPDATE: Dr. Doughman & Fairlawn Family Practice have deactivated my Healow account and no messages can be retrieved. I have noted this in my report.
