Discouraged, I headed home. I received a voicemail later from a different number that I had missed my appointment. The Tenpenny INTEGRATIVE MEDICAL office is actually located in the back of the building. Apparently I am the first person to ever have this problem, but putting this out there for the rest of you. Would be great if the officehad given me a heads up when taking my deposit for the appointment. (Just an fyi that I should come to the back of the building). The receptionist was not very interested in the issue I had, but promptly refunded my deposit.

After leaving a voice and text I finally got a call back and was told that Morledge didn't have capacity to see me for at least month and I would need to wait for an appointment just like a normal clinic after paying. $4000 per year to be treated like a normal clinic?!! Insane and frustrating to dump time and money into doing the right thing for health and be met with such apathy and misguided advertising. This clinic is acting like a concierge service but you will a classic clinic experience. Buyer beware.

Every encounter with the front desk and massage therapists left me feeling relaxed and like I got what I needed. I loved that the therapists were very knowledgeable about prenatal massages and I got a great massage/pressure. We also reached out to them for information about birth doulas, and we connected with Risa. Risa was incredibly helpful during our prenatal and labor times and as an outreach in postpartum. Being first-time parents, we had open conversations about what to expect with birth which helped us shape our preferences while knowing things could change at any time; they provided an incredible opportunity for us to ask questions and talk through concerns as we came closer to our due date; and when it came time for delivery, we knew exactly how to contact Risa and be sure of what we needed. At the hospital, having her by our side helped immensely through her vast knowledge and expertise. Risa kept us calm and ready with a positive, upbeat energy and helped navigate obstacles with our medical team as they came up and checked in with us postpartum to see how we were adjusting. So walking back to my massage, I passed a few exam rooms (chiropractors here) and a yoga studio. The actual massage room didn't have a lot of zen like atmosphere like other places I've been to had. No fancy aromatherapy. There was some faint music in the background. Linens appeared clean. My first masseuse was a young fellow and I was expecting him to be strong but even though I requested he keep massaging harder (i love deep tissue) i wasn't sure if he just didn't want to hurt me but he just didn't get the fact that I wanted a deep tissue massage. If I didn't have the two session deal I would not have come back. Lucky I did though, my second masseuse on another day was Maria. She had the hands and skill of a massage veteran. She could just palpate where all my knots were and I only had to tell her once at the very beginning that I wanted deep tissue massage with hard pressure and she knew what I was looking for. My boyfriend called 2 weeks ago inquiring about becoming a patient after his previous doctor retired. He was told someone would get back to him. That never happened. To leave someone twisting in the wind like that is completely unnecessary and unacceptable. Take the 3.2 seconds and pick up the phone and tell him you're no longer accepting new patients if that's the case so he can make other arrangements. Very unprofessional way to run a medical office.

Lately, I'd say, the last 2 years, it has been consistently difficult to reach this office via phone. There have been multiple times that we've called and gotten busy signals. Not a voice mail, not a phone tree ("press 2 to request a refill" and no answering service. It hasn't just happened once or twice, but several times, as recently as last week. Specifically, last week I needed to make an appointment for a sudden non-emergent matter. I called at 1:15pm and approximately every 5 minutes after and got busy signals each time. I must have called about 15 times. Finally, over an hour later, the phone rang thru and someone answered (again, no phone tree, which is odd) The phone problem has gotten so frustrating that I had my husband switch doctors and he now goes to another office. I've stayed with this office because, luckily, I am in relatively good health and rarely need to see the Dr. (However that of course will change and I'll reevaluate things at some point) The staff members are friendly and pleasant however, they often fail to follow procedure: There have been several times the nurse has called me in (from the waiting area) and did not confirm my full name or date of birth. I've noticed many nurses (workers?) without ID badges. Who is this person taking my weight and blood pressure? Badges should be worn conspicuously. People who work in healthcare should know to check for 2 patient identifiers to prevent errors. The waiting area is small: there are several rows of seats but once people are sitting in those seats, it is hard to get around. When you are called in, you stand up and have to make your way thru the rows of chairs. The waiting area has a large flat-screen TV and some magazines. The office is in a large, modern medical building. The building has a lab and X-ray services. There is plenty of parking. The location is scenic with lots of trees and grassy areas. Seriously, this office has to fix their phone issues and reiterate to staff about confirming patients' identities.

The only reason why I'm not giving this 5 stars is because the downside to Dr. Zelis being thorough is that he runs behind for appointments. To avoid a really long wait, I schedule my appointments for the beginning or end of the day. Also, if you call his staff for a prescription, be prepared to call again to make sure they sent it to the pharmacy.
