Chose the vegetables and mashed potatoes covered in gravy. The roast beef was very tasty and fairly tender. The bbq pork was very lean and hence becomes dry which I thought it was. The bbq sauce was nice though. The mashed potatoes were decent especially with the gravy. The gravy is definitely delicious. Veggies were soft and decent as well. Over all a nice meal and pretty good. Since it is in the market it is public seating, stools and open space and very nosey due to the public walking around looking at all the stalls. read more

I prefer my roast beef on the rarer side and customer service told me they have been cooking all day so won't be that rare. He gave me a couple of pieces that had some pink in them. Visited north Vancouver for the first time, since it's holiday seasons many merchants were closed, we were lucky to see this highly rated place still open, we decided to order 2 proteins and 2 sides, steak and ham and perogies and mashed potato's with gravy. The steak requires 2 extra dollars but it's pretty worth it, ham on the other side is very dry, I love the mashed potato and the perogies, only thing I hated was the plastic knifes, the steak wasn't cut properly so we had to use our plastic knifes to separate them, it was such a painful and exhausting experience. It was also Luke warm so I wonder if they can improve it somehow. U get to eat it in the market, which has a cozy atmosphere. read more

I have been going here for years. They must have sold it it because the quality and worst of all the service is a nightmare. Just treated me like trash then ask me for money? No more! Pricing has changed a bit. $11 for 1 meat and 2 sides, or $14 for 2 meat 2 sides. The portions are still ridiculously huge. I think this may be the best deal in the entire quay. The latter combo can easily make 2 meals for smaller eaters. They do not skimp out. As an added bonus, they now have hunter's stew (contains lots of meat) as a side. So basically it's 3 meats 1 side for $14. For the sides, I recommend their perogies. Nice and filling. I've now tried their striploin, honey garlic ribs, Italian sausage, and meat loaf. The ribs portion is a bit smaller than the rest, but still decent. The striploin is my current favourite. Need to try all the other items and clean them out. read more

Ordered a turkey dinner ($15.95 plus $1 dollar extra for takeout container). Sirloin beef ($14.95 plus $1 dollar takeout container). First the main items. Both meats were flavorless but the sirloin was particularly bad. It had so much fat and even had arteries connected to them. Was gross looking at it. The sides were mashed potatoes and veggies. The mashed potatoes tasted like it had a ton of butter in it and the veggies were mushy enough for the elderly customers no doubt. The price has increased a lot since the last time we came and also the size has decreased a lot as well. They used to give out a lot more meat but its not the case anymore. We were excited to try Sharkey's but it wasn't good at all. The food looked and smelled great, but the meats were not good. We went at 12:30 on a Sunday and got teriyaki meatballs, bbq pork, perogies and mashed potatoes. The meat was very dry. The 2 meatballs were very different from each other. One was okay... kinda dry, and the other was so dry it practically fell apart like sawdust when you chewed it-seemed like it was from the day before because it had darker and more caramelized sauce, while the other one was more fresh tasting. Would not order again. The bbq pork was on the dry side but still tasted good. The sides were good but overall we will not make a point of coming back. read more

Super quality place for a budget meal in the Lonsdale Quay market. I always ask them what they recommend for the day. Today I ordered their Caribbean Jerk Chicken and Sharkys meatloaf with mashed potatoes and perogies. Both mains were really good, flavorful, provided in laaarge portions. Nice spice and kick to the jerk chicken, but not too spicy. The mashed potatoes were well made, nice, soft and fluffy. Perogies were also nicely done. They have dine in and take out. Located in Lonsdale Quay market, Sharkey's is a must try for those visiting. Value wise, it can't be beat. The amount of food you get for one order can easily feed two adults and a small child. Fully aware that the pic I took of my order isn't the best but what you're looking at is a container jam packed with perogies, Mashed potatoes, and 6 slices of roast beef. I love the perogies, especially when they're smothered in sour cream. The mashed potatoes are pretty standard, but that's not a bad thing. It's good. Simple as that. Now on to the beef. Since the roast is kept in a warmer, it does continue to cook throughout the day, so if you're looking for a rare or medium-rare cut its best to show up early. The slices that I got were on the medium side, but no complaints. Would I return? I've been returning for the past 4yrs. Don't see myself changing that anytime soon. read more

A North Van local brought me here to try one of his favourite eats - sharkys at the quay. The deal to be had here is the 1 meat 2 sides for $11! He's a big eater and finishing one of these sends him right off to food coma land, whereas I ate half and saved the rest for dinner. Apparently they are super popular and can sell out of meats quite early in the day so you don't want to come too late if you want options. I went for the roast beef, pierogies, and vegetables. I wanted to go for mashed potatoes with the pierogies, but then thought it might be too much carbs so decided to go the healthy route. They will ask if you want gravy and sour cream and the answer is always yes! My partner went for the meatloaf which he really enjoys, the Hunter stew, and the pierogies. Pierogies are out of this world!!! Meatloaf was very good too. A bit of sinew/chewy tendon in the roast beef but not too bad. Veggies were a little overcooked for my liking so I'll probably go all in on carbs next time We were both so stuffed after eating here! It's definitely a great deal and they also carry sausages and cured meats to bring home as well. read more

We are from the states and I am a meat eater. I stumbled into Sharky's Chophouse totally at random and I had no idea what to expect. Considering the low prices, I ordered the double thinking that would be enough for a good meal. Steak, sausage, mashed potato, pirogi, gravy and grilled onions. I was astonished at the amount and quality of the food particularly given the low price. A little over 10 American dollars for a meal that would've cost at least 30 to 50 in America. The ribs were awful. Excessive cinnamon, and both meats were pretty much cold. Two people can dine here for $8.95 plus change. My wife and I have been here twice, and each time we shared their famous lunch special for $8.95. The first time, we ordered the Roast Beef with Mashed Potatoes and vegetables. The second time, we got the Cajun Chicken with Perogies and vegetables. Both times, we were fairly satiated with the quantity of food. The portion size was perfect because it allowed us to go get some ice cream and pastries in the market for dessert. I would NOT have been able to eat an entire lunch platter all by myself. The beef is slow roasted, tender but a bit dry. Don't expect to get rare or medium-rare; only well-done is available. Luckily, they provide gravy to help the meat slide down the gullet. Horse radish is also available at the self-serve beside the cashier counter. The Cajun Chicken was also a bit dry, but the glaze/sauce it came with partially remedied that. I didn't ask for, nor was I offered, a choice between white or dark meat. The lady just select a couple random portions and threw it on my plate. Next time, I'll see if I can ask for specific cuts of chicken. The mashed potatoes and Perogies were great fillers. The vegetables were also sufficient. And, the platter comes with one dinner roll too, as if there weren't enough carbs already. Sharkey's is also a deli/butcher shop so you can pick up very fresh, trimmed and seasoned meats to take home for dinner or BBQ. Prices for the meat, however, are a bit pricier than most grocery chains. But, their presentation is amazing. Overall, Sharkey's is the highlight of Lonsdale Quay. I can see why so many people love it here. I still want to try the sausages and ham, so I will definitely be back. read more

Amazing! We went for the special - choose 1 protein and two sides. We chose meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and perogies with sour cream. It was a big plate with very generous quantity of food. All for under $10!! My friend and I shared it and we were satisfied and pretty much stuffed when the plate was cleared. It was very tasty and flavourful and I enjoyed every bite! The gravy on the mashed potato wasn't too salty either. Everything was cooked to pretty much perfection. I would suggest sharing a plate as they give you generous portions.The guy who helped us was also very friendly. This place is great for some comfort food too. I had wanted their baked beans as one of my sides, but they were running out. Yes, we went when they were about an hour before they close. Cute restaurant stall in this public market. You wouldn't expect such a yummy restaurant in a touristy area. We passed by and the food looked delicious. We decided to get the two meats and two sides meal. I chose the roast beef with meatballs. The two sides were gnocchi and veggies. So out of the four items that we tried, the roast beef and veggies were unremarkable. The beef was dry and chewy and the veggies not seasoned well, bland. However the meat balls were super good and the gnocchi was so memorable. The gnocchi was probably the best thing I had. It was buttery and delicious. I wanted to eat more. The two later dishes brought the overall average up. Plus the staff who helped me was really nice. The price is reasonable for the amount of food you get but I was a little annoyed that it costed $2 extra for to go containers. I am fine paying it but wish there was some kind of sign to forewarn people. read more

Saw some pics on Yelp and went to try it out. I'm a huge fan of baked ham so I gave it a shot with the Roast Beef. So good and so filling with everything you can order on the side, this meal was definitely a filler. Took the leftovers home for my late night dinner. Tried out their regular meal to go on a Sunday night and although the meats were looking sparse (close to closing), we were able to grab some roast pork, honey garlic sausage and meatloaf. Of the three, the meat loaf was the standout being flavourful, juicy and tasty even after likely being cooked first thing in the morning. We decided to go for double pergoies and they were tasty but a little bit soft but acted as a great filler! Unfortunately, the amount of meat compared to sides was disappointing but it was all very tasty food AND the service is simply amazing. The guys are the counter are extremely patient, explaining their meats and care about their customers. They were nice enough to give me a choice of three meats (although smaller pieces of each) and were extremely apologetic at a small wait. Overall, a great choice for Lonsdale food and probably even better during the day! read more

Searching for a dinner inspiration I decided to take the sea bus over to Lonsdale yesterday and strolling through the market hall. After getting a nice fruit salad which would be my dessert later I discovered Sharkeys Chophouse & Deli. They had an excellent lunch/dinner combo which reminded me on a meal my grandma used to cook back home. Glazed Ham, Mashed Potatos, Gravy and Vegetable. Yum! It was so delicious! And that for 7$, what a steal! The best is, they serve it on a real plate and with real cutlery and not one of these gross plastic trays. They also have fresh meat and other stuff if you look to stock your fridge at home. I will definitely be back!! read more

I read the reviews and wanted to give a try, and I was ready to like as I love meat. However I'm disappointed. Yes the amount of food you get is good but who cares when it is bland? The whole plate tasted the same, perhaps they were having a bad day, but I found all fatty and starchy. Tasted as if bunch of low value generic ingredients mixed together. Anyway, not for me.. I am ok with less but higher quality food. And the staff was not really warm. I had the large large lunch special for $13. When they say, "Large" they weren't kidding!! Several generous slices of perfectly roasted beef, mashed potatoes and veggies with gravy. Yummm! I saved half (which was a full meal in itself) and enjoyed the other half with some excellent craft beer from the nearby Green Leaf Brewing (you can bring food court food into the brewery seating area). Perfect go with!! I would have liked the meal a bit warmer - but the quality and price were awesome. The server was helpful and cordial. I used ceramic plates (which I returned to the bussing station). If they would use metal cutlery, that would be awesome (mind you, I bring my own cutlery in my backpack to reduce my dependence on plastic disposables). What is a "Montreal Burger" ? Well, let me tell you. It's a very lean, single serving Meatloaf/Burger! How I know this? I bought some for dinner at Sharky's today. Having no dinner plans, I was browsing the food displays in the Quay when these very interesting patties caught my eye like -Holy Cow! what's THAT? They are cloaked in peppers of all sorts and almost festive looking. I was really curious! They cook up very lean, so it's nothing but flavour and protein, baby! I have walked past Sharkey's many times but kept missing the hot food they serve. For the $7.95 cost you get a lot of great, fresh food. From brisket, ham or meat loaf that is top quality. My only complaint is they do not make a big enough deal about the hot food they serve as I had missed it for so long. I also purchased some pulled pork and other meat from them and am happy to support a local merchant. The staff there are exceptional. Polite and attentive. This is my first time getting a meal there but it most certainly will not be the last. The hot food in on the far corner of the shop. read more

Want a fancy high grade steak without leaving the house? Sharky's has the best cuts of steak, marinated and spiced in array of flavors. All you have to do is bring it home and cook. The steaks are pricey, however, you get what you pay for. I am all about the fancy steak dinners once in a while, however, you can't wear your PJ's and watch a John Hughes movie at a 5 star restaurant. I take home the 5 star dinner experience, without the fancy need to get dressed up. The guys at the shop are super nice and sweet.
