SCRIBBLED SIGN

I called in a order for Sharks in Harvey on 159th today. THEY DID NOT MENTION A COVID TAX when I ordered. When I went to pay for my food I realized it was a little more expensive. I had to ASK why my food was more money than usual that's when the man want to show me some scribbled sign that's out of your line of view then gone try to be smart and say "I don't know I just work here" So y'all up there with NO MASKS ON, none of the customers have on masks (besides me) and no 6 feet social distancing regulations but y'all want to add a COVID 19 tax? funny how businesses want to pick and choose what regulations will benefit them. Tsk . I wonder how many people went up there today and paid that tax and didn't even know. They don't give a receipt unless you ask either. Pay attention to y'all orders and ask for receipts. I know the price of food going up and I don't care about paying a little extra but the least they can do is tell you in advance. Otherwise, that's a deceitful practice.

Part of catfish filet plate. This was after half of the fish was split with someone else.

Food is amazing! If you're looking for something healthy you may want to skip this stop but they do have grilled options. The smell of grease hits you as soon as you walk in. Don't come here expecting to go sit and eat as it's a fairly small space in a strip plaza. While the food is great, I took off two stars as the menu and pricing are confusing and the lady behind the register was very rude. She seemed bothered and agitated by me asking her questions regarding prices. Their menu reads one thing and then they charge something else as supposedly those prices as it relates to fish isn't for filet. If this is the rule great however pricing on the signs should match as the customer it's confusing what I'm being charged for when the prices are advertised as something different. Portion sizes are massive and you can easily share a plate with another person. Make sure you don't leave without getting taffy grapes. Super yummy and overpriced but a sweet treat for your drive home.

Good food slow service. Had the Philly cheesesteak and it needed more flavor and there were absolutely too much green peppers and onions

Their wine selection was amazing, and the Moscato I ordered was great. My bartender, Kore, was such a vibe! I genuinely enjoyed chatting with her and would come back just for the good conversations alone. I also checked out the food menu, and everything sounded delicious and seemed reasonably priced. They have an upstairs patio featuring a Juice WRLD mural. While it's not a Chicago skyline view, the scenery was still pretty decent! There's also a gaming area upstairs, which adds another fun element to the space. Overall, it's a nice spot to grab drinks, relax, and enjoy good company. I'd definitely come back!

I originally came for brunch, but my date arrived late and brunch ended at 3:00 p.m., so we had to wait for dinner service to start at 4:00 p.m. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The presentation was nice, served in a large bowl, and the sauce was delicious. However, the portion felt small for the size of the bowl--only four shrimp and not nearly enough grits. My date ordered the same dish and felt the same way. The biggest disappointment was that the food arrived only room temperature. It seems like more and more restaurants are serving food that isn't hot, and that's frustrating. My date also ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The burger came out without the fries, although they were brought out later. Overall, the experience was okay. The atmosphere and building are great, but the food temperature and portion size, left me underwhelmed. I might come back one day to try the brunch menu, but based on this visit, it's probably not a place I'd rush back to.

I also understand that servers sometimes make assumptions about guests. However, every customer deserves the same level of attention and service, regardless of what a server thinks the tip may be. According to the receipt provided by the manager, I believe our server's name was Jaden. Unfortunately, she never introduced herself and only checked on our table once throughout the meal. Most of the service we received actually came from the manager on duty. I found myself repeatedly getting up to ask for things until I finally asked Jaden, if she was our server. I hoped that would prompt a little more attention to our table, but it didn't. Instead, she remained focused on another table that had arrived before us and was still there after we left. I watched her check on them four or five times while our table was largely ignored. Whether intentionally or not, it certainly felt as though she had decided our table wasn't worth her time. If that was her assumption, then in this particular case she was correct about one thing: my husband and I will not tip for bad service. I have no problem rewarding excellent service, but I also believe tips should reflect the quality of the experience provided. Rather than leaving money for poor service, I chose to give the cash I had to the busboys, who were attentive and helpful throughout the evening. The reason I'm sharing this review is because I don't want one bad experience to overshadow what has otherwise been a good restaurant. I've dined here several times before, live nearby, and have always enjoyed my visits. That's why this experience stood out so much. I'm willing to give the restaurant another chance because I know the level of service they're capable of providing. My hope is that when I return, every guest will receive the same level of attention and hospitality, regardless of assumptions about who they are or what they may tip. Great service should be consistent, and that's what keeps customers coming back. One final thought: tipping culture only works when both sides do their part. GUESTS should recognize and reward good service, and SERVERS should provide quality service to every table. When assumptions are made on either side, EVERYONE loses.

We were greeted nicely and warned of workers calling off. They even provided mixed chips between our appetizers and entrees. We started with the grilled and fried shrimp. Both were amazing. Realizing there was no dipping sauce but not being able to stop eating them while awaiting sauce was commendable. Both were very tasty. The fried green tomatoes were cooked perfectly and seasoned impeccably... again no sauce needed. The catfish and the salmon bites again, seasoned and fried perfectly. The fried mushrooms were different but so good. The star of the night was the Shaniky pasta and I'm not a pasta fan. I had only one complaint. For the same price, you get either 4 pieces of beautifully fried catfish and fries or one piece of beautifully fried catfish sitting in a huge bowl of very tasty but dry dirty rice. I would eat the dirty rice again, but I would choose 4 pieces of beautiful fried catfish with fries any day over a big bowl of rice and one piece of fish. Will definitely return.... Regularly!!!

The Thursday special was the highlight of the meal. The lamb chops were well-seasoned, and the lemon drops absolutely saved the day. The appetizers were decent too. The crab cakes were a nice size, but at $12 each, they felt overpriced. I think serving three smaller crab cakes for around $15 would make more sense and create a better presentation. I didn't personally try the oysters, but everyone in my group agreed they would've been much better without the cheese, which overpowered the flavor. Now...the main attraction--the item the restaurant is literally named after--the crab bagz. Unfortunately, they were more like trash bagz. The shrimp tasted like a frozen bag of shrimp from Aldi that was simply boiled with a little butter. The smoked sausage looked and tasted more like a boiled hot dog. Frying or grilling the sausage before adding it to the bag would make a huge difference in both flavor and texture. The corn tasted old, almost like it had been sitting in seasoned water for hours and was simply reheated when ordered. By the time I got to the potato, I had completely lost interest. The entire boil needs more seasoning cooked into the seafood and vegetables--not just added afterward. A heavier Cajun dry seasoning and deeper flavor infusion would go a long way. New Orleans is my second home, so yes, my standards for seafood boils are high. But this just missed the mark. If I came back, it would be for the drinks, lamb chops, and appetizers. Those are the real stars here. Unfortunately, the crab bagz--the signature dish--just aren't it.

The only feedback I really have are the bathrooms not being maintained frequently and the strong smell of pot all around, which not much they can do on that one. I gave it a 4 stars because my last visit, one of the staff members at their Starbucks was a little unwelcoming. I know it was close to their closing time, but the way my order was taken made me feel like I was an inconvenience to her. The rest of the staff there was nice. I mainly go for slots, so I haven't dined at any of their outlets nor have I interacted with the dealers, but just from observing, majority of the staff seems nice and inviting. I came to enjoy dinner at their Food Bazaar food court followed by a classic Motown Revue concert performed by a cover group called Motor City in their Halsted Ballroom. It was all courtesy of my high roller brother-in-law who had the required points to make it all complimentary. I learned this hotel-casino is owned by a group called the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and they own other properties mainly in AL and FL apparently as well as a few properties overseas. I will review their food court separately under the Food Bazaar Yelp page. Before eating, we walked about the premises. A lot of the space is dedicated to slot machines. They have the usual blackjack, baccarat, and craps tables, a sports betting room, and a smallish 10 table poker room. Other restaurants in the casino, not counting the food court eateries, include the Ivory Noodle Bar, Shuck It Oyster Bar, and The Spot American Diner. As far as the Motown Revue concert, I'll also go with a 3.49 star rating. The Halsted Ballroom has a stated capacity of 800 but we counted 552 seats. It was a comfortable setup albeit loud as the music was contained in a ballroom as opposed to an auditorium setup. The cover band and performers did a nice and entertaining job covering a lot of the classic hits from the Motown era. The performers covered hits by the Supremes, the Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and the Temptations. It was an entertaining and reminiscent evening for those of us who grew up in the 60's with this music.
