Mermaid bowl with no coconut
Amanda O.

Bowls were fresh and delicious. The store was out of several toppings so we had to make some substitutions. Edited to add- I would never hesitate to visit a business with four star reviews and mention of being out of certain toppings. I would have reservations about businesses where the owner comments on reviews and calls the visitor comments untruthful. Edited to add- Monique, in your first comment, you say that you were out of 2 kinds of protein crumbles. In you edit, you say one. Are you being correct and truthful?

As soon as you walk in the front doors of Nautical Bowl, you are taken to the beach. The mural is a vibrant reminder of summer and the surfboard tables bring me straight to the beach. There's nothing better than something refreshing during a Charleston summer, and this is it! My husband and I got a dinghy sized Nauti Bowl. It was so delicious and extremely filling. They are not stingy on the toppings, look at the size of the PB scoop! The flavor combinations were so good, 5/5!! The products are all organic, which helps you enjoy the meal even more. Although the dinghy is the smallest size, I personally did not even need a meal anytime after eating it. It's worth the price, trust me! They have recently partnered with Summit coffee so I also got a black coffee and they had a range of milks and syrups to go with. The owner Monica is the sweetest person I have truly ever met!

Been on my list to try for a while! Friendly staff upon entrance and help me decide on the smoothie of choice! The smoothie was really good and the crumbles were amazing inside the smoothie! Love the beach theme as it matches the name! Def will return to try the smoothie bowls ! Can be a little pricey though depending.

First, let me say that I haven't been to the store, but I was able to try this at MUSC in the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch on two separate occasions. It is delicious! I love that they are dairy free and the coconut sorbet is amazing!! Very filling, great portions, super fresh tasting. Everyone I have encountered has been very friendly. The only thing I could wish to be different for was with the oatmeal bowls. It was a little hard to eat it together. It would be great if these could be layered like the other bowls. I had to try very hard not to spill the fruit when trying to get to the oatmeal. Other than that, they are great in my opinion and would for sure recommend them!

Love this new, fresh addition to Mount Pleasant! My husband and I love these kinds of bowls, so we had to try them out- they were excellent! I ordered the Big Island Bowl in the small size and it was overflowing- still plenty for the small size! Lots of base layers and they were all delicious. The Gogi berries and hemp seeds gave it a nice texture and the strawberries were super fresh. My husband built his own bowl, again with a small. He didn't get as much on his, but was still filling. The ladies working there were super friendly and were able to answer a lot of our questions, and they brought the bowls out to our table- makes for great service. The space inside is on the smaller side but the bowls seem like they'd travel well to take to the beach. Bonus points for all of the ingredients being vegan, gluten free, and no after sugar- I actually didn't know that until afterwards but it was nice to have a filling meal with not a lot of junk.

The prettiest food in town. Seriously. You FEEL colorful when you eat it. You feel GOOD eating it. So many benefits from the bowls. Now, that being said, good for you isn't going to be cheap! That's why we usually split a bowl. It's a fun after-swim-team-refuel.

We tried out a new açaí bowl shop on the block, in Mt. P. Both bowls were amazing, and the perfect consistency! We love everything is GF and plant bases! They offered a wide variety of different bowls or you could make your own. If you didn't like any of the premade options it's a small little spot to just stop in! We love to take our bowls to go and sit by the pool! They do have inside seating and quite a bit of room if you want to stop in and each bowl there!

Cute little place to stop into if you want something quick and refreshing. Only critiques would be that the two employees working didn't speak a word when I walked in. I just stood at the counter without a hello or "we will be with you in just a minute" ... secondly, I added a few things onto the bowl that I got, but two of the add ons were forgotten. It didn't necessarily taste like the freshest açaí bowl I've ever had - but it was still good! Hoping my experience that day was a one-off, and will definitely give it another try. Overall, definitely have high hopes!

Stopping in to Earth Fare I was curious what the place had in store (sorry for the bad pun) to…read moresatisfy my curiosity. I will say there's plenty of parking outside with a very clean parking lot. There isn't too much inventory spilling out into the front of the store, which is oh so trendy, but it's tastefully done. Walking in the place is extremely clean, after some of the places I've been recently, this is very refreshing. I'll get this out of the way up front. I used to be a chef so when I see GMO, Gluten free, etc etc I cringe. There is hardly a definitive Government standard by which all these things are measured. Which means more often than not, it's a scam. If you want the real deal, farmers markets are the best bet. With that I observed the pricing like a hawk and comparable items had roughly a 10% markup. Now then I do love their house made foods. Cooking pizzas to order? Come on that's awesome! Desserts and cheeses are ok although I was a little down on their sliced meats and the variety. Their butcher was ho-hum and not very impressive. But... I spotted something I didn't anticipate Kangaroo, Ostrich and Bison to name a few oddities. I give credit for carrying very unpopular items around Summerville. FYI I've cooked ostrich before. It tastes just like beef only almost all lean meat for those watching your calories. I wondered around some more, noticing they had better cereal alternatives with less sugar. They lacked snacks like coconut crisps, but they did have a great assortment of dried fruits. Although I was impressed with their dried mushroom selection, no dried shiitakes! Generally, I like fresh, which they did have, but I wanted the juice from soaking them. Odd they have other mushrooms but not shiitake. The people here are fantastic. For some reason in my mind when I think of these "hippy" type of stores like Earth Fare I think very grounded and kind people. I wasn't disappointed as I asked the produce guy for something and he was all too eager to help out. If it were me, I would have been more like "check isle 3" or something. The employees are shining examples of down to earth kindness; something we all could use more of in these days. Overall, I like this place based on principal but those same principles are what keep me away. I'm not overly excited about slapping on GMO free labels when most of the time those are just buzz words to make an extra buck. Are there authentic companies out there? Sure but you really have to do your homework. Therefore, I remain committed to farmers markets. That said, I think this place is fine for those who like it. If you haven't been here before and are reading this be prepared for a slight price increase. To reiterate they do have an interesting variety of items greatly depending on specific products. I'm sure if you drop by you wont leave empty handed especially with the quality of people there to help.

A great place for fresh salads, exotic meat like bison and elk, and tons of sea food.read more

Who comes to a grocery store and doesn't buy groceries? Me!…read more I love Lowe's Boxcar Coffee and Beer Den. Tucked into a corner, it's a great place to relax with your favorite beverage. The booths are comfy, plenty of high tops, and a few seats at the bar. The coffee is excellent. I'm a purist, but flavor fanciers will love the available options. I'm going to try the beer, because I can buy in recyclable growlers - and it's tasty. But the attribute I like best is that while it's not silent, there's the usual hubbub, it's quiet enough to have a normal volume conversation with a friend or a group. How nice to have a cuppa with friends, and catch up, without shouting over the TVs, blaring music, and arcade games of most places. Plus, there's fresh pastries just down the aisle...

Located at the intersection of not 1, not 2 but 3, three roads... ha haha ha... (A little Lebron /…read moreThe Count mashup humor there) Lowes can cater to and elevate all of your grocery needs. I must admit as a former chef then afterwards living in Kansas City and Austin TX for 25 years and frequenting large grocery stores with almost all of the things I've needed under one roof; I've been very disappointed with almost all the grocery stores here. So, after my mother convinced me to stop by Lowes I was pleasantly surprised with a chain that "gets it" here in town. Walking in I found the place to be extremely clean with some of the nicest employees I've come across since being back in town. Moreover, they're rather smart; strategically placing fresh baked focaccia bread close to the entrance, enticing one's stomach to influence the power of the purse. Next, I challenge anyone to resist their smoked foods as the air is heavy with the sweet perfume. Please note that Lowes carries a LOT of items customers will NOT find at other stores. From the towns best selection of cheeses, rack of lamb, watermelon radish and on the list continues, I encourage all those reading this to shop this store for those harder to find items. As for instore made items, I've tried a few and would like to report my limited findings. First, I bought a loaf of olive focaccia bread a noted weakness of mine. I found it be pillow-y moistness, bouncing back to the touch with a good fragrance however the amount of rosemary in it will repel even the most persistent of demons (odd refence). I bought another loaf of parmesan and I had the same issue, just way to rosemary which I happen to enjoy. I wish they had an alternative without the herb but other than that it's awesome. Another success in the bakery was the Bavarian donuts which I highly advise not buying as they're downright addictive. Soft, moist and a perfect chocolate to cream ratio these things are illegal in 5 surrounding counties! As for protein, I broke down and got the smoked chicken wings and macaroni salad for lunch. Again, this would be a resounding success if it weren't for one overwhelming ingredient; in this case salt. I'm of the belief they marinated these wings in the dead sea as it tasted as if the cap to the salt shaker fell off when seasoning these wings. Otherwise, these wings hit on all notes as they were moist and had the perfect amount of smoke. As for the mac salad, everyone has their version of what are perfect ingredients so I'll just add this, they perfectly cooked the pasta. That is to say the noodles weren't soggy or cooked to death; rather al dente which is perfect for the summertime favorite. As for addins I think they're ok but that's very subjective. Again, a certified hit. I did grab the sushi one day but I'm not a fan of grocery store sushi for the simple fact that the rice needs to be warm and the fish cold as it creates a contrast in the mouth. That said I got the fried shrimp sushi and it was just like any other store, not great. Nothing taken away as I realize most people are happy with this. My point is if I'm craving sushi a grocery store isn't the first thing that comes to mind as a true restaurant has better quality fish and a more diverse menu. To summarize Lowes is a great place to obtain those harder to find ingredients with the best in store created foods among all the competitors out there. The people here are very nice and willing to help however please note you'll need to obtain a card to get the discounts, the one down side of Lowes, is they're a little more expensive. However, "it's a small price to pay" for leveling up on the quality meter. This is my favorite grocery store in town and it's not even close.
