I worked with Sharbel and his team (thank you Michael and Taylor) on a purchase. The communication was very clear and Sharbel made himself available throughout all hours of the day. He was very clear with what we needed to do and when we needed to do it. He also made it very easy for us to get him our documents and was clear on deadlines (which helped a lot). I cannot recommend Sharbel enough. Thank you, Sharbel. Wishing you nothing but the best! read more

Sharbel helped me with my refinance recently. After much research, not only did he offer the lowest mortgage interest rate around, he was extremely transparent and helpful and answered everything quickly and in great depth. This work ethic and kindness extends to the rest of the team: Cheryl was the best, helping out with every step of the process and the most responsive person I have ever worked with. I would highly recommend working with Sharbel and his team for your next loan! read more

TL;DR: An outrageously positive experience. Stop messing around and just use Sharbel as your lender. Sharbel and his team were nothing short of phenomenal. Always available, speedy, genuine, friendly, deeply knowledgable. I felt truly cared for and never even had an inkling that I was being taken for a ride. Trust was built rapidly and never betrayed. On the pricing side, I did bring a competitor's offer to Sharbel, which was a slightly higher rate but included a very lucrative City of Chicago MCC program. Initially I was told I could have the lower rate or the MCC but not both. I asked for both, and a few hours later Sharbel called me back to let me know he had gotten this done for me. There are not enough words I say about how amazing this experience was. read more

It's been an amazing experience working with Sharbel and his team. Since the beginning of the process, working with Kelvin was a smooth and knowledgeable experience, as he explained everything clearly. Calls, emails, texts, everything got answered right away. I didn't know things could get even better, but working with Cheryl was also a fantastic experience. She is on top of everything and works quickly, which is something I loved. I have recommended Sharbel and his team to other people I know. I feel like I am doing a good deed for others when recommending this team, because I know they will have the best and easiest time working with them. Great job guys!! read more

If you're even considering about making a purchase, contacting Sharbel and his team is one of the best moves you can make. I reached out to Sharbel a year ago to get rate quotes and to try and purchase a unit in Old Town. He told me flat out, after researching the condo association and its management team, that they would be the bottleneck and that the chances of the deal closing would be very low. Not liking his response, I engaged another mortgage provider that gave me the answer I wanted. Sure enough, a few months into the process, and a few $k dropped on lawyers fees, appraisal and home inspections and moving fees. I found out, on the day of my closing, that My closing date was being pushed back indefinitely due to the condo association/ management - exactly what Sharbel had told me months before. What hurt was that no one had told me about the delay and I had already sublet my apartment and packed all my things thinking it was a done deal. So I had to find a new apartment, and move, for nothing. Eventually I ate the loss and decided to move onto a new unit, as the condo association kept missing their deadline. 6 months down the line, I found a new unit in the South Loop that I loved, and remembering how upfront and honest Sharbel's team was, I gave them the business for the new unit. Sharbel, and his entire team, were very professional throughout the process. They front-loaded most of the work, but after that it was smooth sailing. They kept in touch with me throughout the whole process, and Sharbel was always honest about everything (e.g. the chances of anything being delayed, what closing costs would be, etc.). And sure enough, we closed on the exact date we had agreed to when we started the process. In retrospect, if I had jsut listened to him, and his honest feedback months ago, I wouldn't have wasted a few $k chasing a place that could never be. You don't find too many honest, straight-forward guys like Sharbel, so I appreciate his effort and approach and would recommend him to everyone. read more

My wife and I can't say enough good things about the team at Perl Mortgage. Sharbel was great to work with in the beginning stages of the pre-approval process and was able to quickly and efficiently get us what we needed to make competitive offers. Then, came BOSS LADY CHERYL! I want to offer a special shout-out to Cheryl, who was simply the best mortgage processor I've ever worked with. Not only was she able to facilitate a 15 day close, but you can tell she takes personal ownership of each and every file she has under her care. Nights, weekends, or during the course of a normal business day, Cheryl is ROCKING it for Perl's clients. She was invaluable and made our experience remarkable for an otherwise mundane process. Thank you to her and the entire Sharbel Team! read more

Buying your first home in a country that is kind of new for you with so many regulations and a lot of vendors trying to get your business can be slightly difficult. Finding a person I could trust was essential for me to move forward. Sharbel and his team were always there to answer all the questions I had. They held my hand during the entire process and explained to me everything (even the small paragraphs you find on contacts). Thanks to them we ended up getting the house we wanted. I will definitely use Sharbel and his team in the future, and If you are looking to buy your first home and know nothing about the business, he is the right person to go with. read more

My wife and I recently closed on the purchase of a home. Sharbel and his team consisting of Cheryl and Ralph were outstanding. We were fortunate to have knowledgeable, dedicated and responsive professionals working with us. The closing went smooth. Although many new (and sometimes burdensome) regulations have been placed on the mortgage industry, Sharbel and his team navigated us through the process and were always prompt to respond to questions. The best part is that they never gave rehearsed answers. They were genuine and honest. I would retain Sharbel and his team in the future. I highly recommend Sharbel and his team to anyone searching for a mortgage broker/consultant. read more

If you want to work with the best lender in Chicago, then the professional team at Perl mortgage is the one to go above and beyond for you. I worked with Sharbel's group for my first home and they had flawless & continuous communication, demonstrated a high level of experience, persistent, and they were lightning quick in response and getting tasks completed. I was extremely impressed! My home was a foreclosure so the seller's team was extremely difficult, wouldn't cooperate at times, sloppy, and had horrible communication. Yet, they still had the nerve to set unrealistic timelines which they couldn't even achieve. It was Sharbel's team that had to pick up the slack from the seller's side just to get the sale done with least amount of complications. They gave me the confidence and earned my trust throughout the process. They helped explain and educate me about every step, were transparent about their actions and procedures, and troubleshooted problems right away. They were always on top of it. I couldn't be more pleased. They are the absolute best. read more

Sharbel and his team are the best. There is no reason to look elsewhere. My husband and I used Sharbel to help us buy our first home together. The process was literally flawless. They immediately respond to any and all questions or concerns you have. They don't make you feel stupid - because all of this was totally new and foreign to me. I know there are probably a lot of choices out there, but you will NOT be sorry if you use Sharbel. Stop reading reviews now and set up a meeting with him! read more

If you're reading this review you're probably checking on how these guys compare with other lending companies and banks so I'll share my experience. My spouse and I used Sharbel and Perl for our mortgage on our first home. When we first visited their West Loop office, I was both impressed with the office aesthetic and simultaneously intimidated thinking that a company with an office this hospitable must be expensive. Nevertheless we gave Perl a shot. We met with Sharbel several times and you'll immediately recognize he has a vibrant personality and enjoys talking to associates. What impressed me was that in every meeting with him he was never condescending. Sharbel was patient when I asked a million questions. I appreciated how he took the initiative to repeat key closing details and costs each meeting we had at his office; other banks I was shopping with were not this proactive. It's a big peace of mind to be able to visit their office in person in your city. Perl was not our cheapest option but Sharbel was still able to work something out with us and insisted that with Perl would be worth it. As it turns out, Sharbel was able to work very quickly with our realtor to get offers in and they got us to close in about 3 weeks. We had not even started packing when Perl gave us our Clear to Close Date. We also worked with Cheryl and Kelvin on his team and they were fantastic. Prompt, professional, and very sympathetic to the fact that my spouse and I are doing this for the first time while still having lives outside of house buying. Exemplary customer service. read more

I recently worked with Sharbel Shamoon, a VP of Residential Lending at PERL Mortgage, to finance the purchase of my West Loop condo. Sharbel was responsive, professional, and enjoyable to work with. I am about to close on my very first home and 'Team Sharbel' has helped make this process very easy and smooth. Sharbel and his crew answered every single question I had, including answering the same questions I asked more than once. They were always available, responded to texts and emailed within minutes, and kept me up to date regularly about everything that was happening throughout the process. I was introduced to Sharbel through my realtor, as I was new to the area and in need of a mortgage broker. Sharbel and his team worked diligently and quickly to get me a pre-approval letter. As the property was an REO - there were a few internal issues that had to be cleared before Sharbel and team could finalize the appraisal and get the loan to closing. Once the issues were cleared up - Sharbel was able to get the appraisal done in 48 hours so we could close per the contract date. He is very knowledgeable and has a great team to help with any loan process. Highly recommend. read more

If you are considering anyone else you are missing the mark! Sharbel and his team are the absolute best in the business. They consistently went above and beyond the call of duty. You can stop your search for a lender, they are the GOLD standard. I will be a Sharbel client for life! read more

Looks like I'm the first person to write a review for Sharbel. And the first thing I've got to say is that he is THE BEST lender you could EVER ask for. Now I was a first-time home buyer, and figuring out everything involved in getting a loan and working all the details out on a place before the close is quite the insane process. But Sharbel handled everything with grace, doing what he needed to do to get things done and keeping me in the loop whenever appropriate. You can tell from the first time you meet him that things are going to be good with him as your guy. He has been in the industry for I think 10 years (I could be wrong but it's around there), and really knows his stuff. He's also a super cool, super friendly, just freakin super guy to work with. I was told by the seller's realtor that he was incredible and got everything to her asap and make the process super simple. So when all is said and done, yes this was my first time using a lender, but from the horror stories I've heard from friends, I did not have that experience working with Sharbel. He's quite the class act, and if you find a home that you want and need a good team behind you to make it happen, this is your guy. Thanks Sharbel! read more

I cannot say enough great things about Sharbel and his team at Perl, including Cheryl, Kelvin, and Hannah. I was a first time homebuyer and didn't know the first thing about what to expect. From the second I walked in Perl, I felt taken care of. Sharbel sat down with me for an hour, explaining every step of the process. I felt so much more educated about the process and more comfortable moving forward. Kelvin also spent another chunk of time with me going over the loan, and always kept me updated. Then Cheryl was amazing as well all through the few weeks before closing. I felt the team was extremely transparent and honest, which is so key. The process was so smooth with them. What could have been an intimidating process turned out to be incredibly seamless-this group is ON POINT. I would vouch for them and recommend them to ANY one of my close friends or family. Perl will be definitely be my lender for life! read more

Sharbel is excellent. As as a first-time home buyer, Sharbel's advice, perspective, and informative approach to educating me around the entire experience of buying a home (not just obtaining a mortgage) was so appreciated. He was very flexible and accommodating to my schedule, and was professionally persistent when he needed my attention on something important. I'd recommend Sharbel to anyone that is looking to learn more about becoming a home buyer, and have greatly enjoyed the experience of working with someone that has an appreciation for the anxiety that comes with making your first major purchase! read more

This is the sixth house that I have owned. Getting a mortgage has always been stressful and confusing to me, but not this time! I did not worry at all because I felt that I was in good hands. Sharbel has assembled a professional, friendly team that was patient in working with me. They explained everything that I needed to know as well as what paperwork I needed to provide to them. Sharbel & his Team are the best in the business! I have had three transactions with "Team Sharbel" in the past 19 months, each went as smoothly as the last. Also a special "5 Star" rating for Cheryl, she makes this process a breeze. Highly recommend and will repeat. read more

Being a business owner, I'm a stickler for details and exceptional service. Those are things you simply can't teach. Either you have it, or you don't. Last year, my wife and I chose to purchase our first home out in the suburbs. Transitioning from downtown living to the burbs was already going to be a major transition for us, therefore working with someone who would be empathetic to some of those challenges would be a critical choice for us. I heard about Sharbel through a close friend of mine, and chose to give him a shout. Because this was a first time purchase of ours, he literally rolled out a game plan for the whole process. I was not only impressed by his professionalism, great bedside manner, and wealth of knowledge, but I was highly impressed by how collaborative his team was to keep us constantly in the loop of what was going on. Buying a home is one of the most stressful purchases of your life, so entrusting someone with all of your personal financial business can be nerve wrecking. I rarely trust people when money is involved, but with Sharbel and his team - that was truly the least of my worries. Sharbel made the impossible happen with my deal, because being a business owner makes it even harder to purchase a home. When we got to the closing, I felt like Sharbel turned into a great friend who genuinely "gave a sh*t" about making my wife and I happy. And the amazing support, warm wishes and hyper-responsive communication that his team provided made me feel close to them as well. Not only are they exceptional at what they do, but more importantly they are such a great, genuine group of people to work work with! There's not enough room on this review that will ever sum up the true happiness I feel for what Sharbel has provided for me and my family. Without a doubt, they are the best in Chicago! Don't question it, just pick up the phone and call! If you have high expectations, this should be a no brainer. Cheers and good luck! read more
