I would give zero if I could! 10/10 DO NOT Recommend Shapira Builders! Dov Shapira is not a honest employer! And is refusing to pay my husband. After stating in messages that he doesn't ever want to see my husband again.. then proceeds to state that my husband and son can only be paid by him in person (for witnesses.) I wanted to keep it drama free so I've sent him Payment requests through Zelle, that way he can pay with a digital receipt through the bank (proof of payment) and he still refusing to pay. I even told him he could mail a check.. and didn't adress that either.. You dont need an audience to pay someone, you just need proof that you paid.. I offered all the ways to pay without confrontation and so that he could still have proof that he paid David Bieszk and John. I dont want my husband to meet up with him in person to get his check/payment owed, just to be antagonized into an argument for his so called witnesses. I just want him to pay my husband the $500 his owes him and the $100 he owes my son. read more

This was my 2nd time using Shapira Builders and it was another great experience! First used them in 2021 and again this year, 2025. Service and quality remained the same. Dov was very responsive and was able to get me scheduled quickly. They are true visionaries and helped bring my idea to life. I had a patio cover built, and some trim redone on my home. He has an amazing team, special thanks to Clayton! Their work is unmatched and the quality is IMPECCABLE. They are true master carpenters and take great pride in their work. I won't use anyone else when it comes to anything carpentry related. read more

Dov and his team did a great job on our custom front doors! These are truly custom and not "custom" like some big box companies offer (with limited selections and sizes). This was a challenging project and they stepped up and delivered. Thanks Dov! read more

Dov was easy to work with and flexible with me changing up the install date. He did a double door between my bedroom and the addition right off the bedroom which I use as an office. It turned out great and now I just need to have it painted. I would use Dov again for all my door needs. read more

I called Dov about possibly replacing my front door and he came by to take a look and advised that the door was good quality and rather then having to spend thousands of dollars we should just paint it. I really appreciated his honesty. Also a very nice guy. He is a builder so his company can do more then just new doors. Happy to refer him! read more

I can't say enough about the quality of Dov's work and his expertise and responsiveness. I hired him to build custom floor to ceiling book cases out of oak wood in my rear living room. He helped me figure out the best design, and the construction was pristine. Even before the shelving units were later stained, the raw wood and construction looked stunning. He is up front, fair in pricing, and punctual. He also is helping me scope out future additional projects that we discussed together while he was here. Beyond that, he threw in for free fixing a nuisance entry door that needed to be trimmed down and a new threshold installed. Hiring a builder to do work on your home is stressful, but with Dov there is no stress whatsoever. 5 stars! read more

Dov did an amazing job for my remodel project. He created a custom radial door jam and installed it. These are very tricky to do and it takes a master craftsman to do it well . This store looks and operates beautifully. Install some bifold closet doors for me as well and also fix an exterior door that I didn't even know wasn't operating properly. It's hard to find Master craftsman in the valley these days . Dov is definitely one of them and does great work. read more

They may be quality craftsmen but good luck getting them to show up in Chandler to bid a door replacement. It took (2) calls to get someone on the phone, then I got the run around and a couple tok en calls promising someone would come out to bid the job, but gave up after a week of no-show...Now I'm looking for another company to do the work. read more

Dov was excellent! He worked with us from beginning to end- while waiting for the insurance company. He replaced and repaired our entire back door after a break in. He even cam back a week later to give me a hand installing new hardware, and making sure everything looked and worked perfectly. Thanks for the extra help! I would be calling him again for our next project. read more

Dov was highly recommended from a friend and was touted as "The Door Whisperer". He lived up to this recommendation as Dov helped us install all of our interior and exterior doors with our re-build and was able to solve some unique nuances with our doors as our home being 1955 era. Dov did an impeccable job and was a pleasure to be around. We learned a tremendous amount from Dov regarding design and install techniques. We easily give Dov 5 stars as it is well deserved. If you want your work done correctly the first time Dov is your man! Thanks Dov! read more

Mr. Shapira is a rare find these days is a sea of flakey, overpriced, underwhelming craftsmen. We got his number from Heldt Lumber, called, and he responded, set up and appointment, and HE SHOWED UP! already impressed, showed us his work, he is well known in the historic community. We were having some old ranch diamond pane doors hung up, he said he could do it, gave a price, time frame and followed through with all. We are so happy with our "old" "new" doors! We will definitely be using him in the future! read more

On 6/22/23 I had a door with an insert installed By Dov Shapira and wrote a review but now I see that it has not been posted at the time. Mr Shapira did a wonderfull job, this is an old house and was difficult to find a door that would fit the openning so he end up making the door and it looks great. Thank you Mr Shapira! read more

Reached out to several contractors in the area to install a set of interior double doors for the home office. Dov visited the house we designed a set of double doors with frosted glass. Dov drew an elevation of the doors with frosted glass with the quote. No one else came close to doing that. The installation crew was a fun bunch, and the door was installed very quickly. We're hoping to find a taper or painter that is as conscientious as Dov to finish the job. Would definitely recommend! read more

I just had my new door installed by Dov. It's absolutely perfect. When other door makers told me their buds, I cringed. Dov quoted a very fair price. But the best thing?? He does the work and it is first rate. My door is heavy, a little larger than standard, and had custom made wood decorations on the front. Other door makers says they couldn't find the size so their quotes were beyond anything I could imagine. The door is heavy, all the trim is new and it fits flawlessly. The hardware was installed perfectly without any scratches. I own rental properties and I've dealt with a number of door makers over the years. I will never use any others than Dov. He is what a true craftsman should be: highest quality, attention to detail, gets it done quickly, honest and shows up when he says he will be on site! I'll post pictures soo read more

Had an excellent experience with Shapira Builders. Discovered termite damage around the frame of an extremely large custom door. I contacted MANY different companies to come and provide estimates. Many companies immediately said I needed a master woodworker, other quoted estimated over $6k. I honestly had no idea what to do. I came across Shapira on Yelp and all the reviews seemed very positive. They aren't fake! My experience with Dov was terrific from the first phone call until the final day. He is an expert, friendly, transparent and cleaned up beautifully. The repair around the door came out absolutely perfect and honestly looks better than before. Some day I will downsize and inevitably want to remodel, Dov will be my first phone call. Thank you Dov, you saved my sanity!! read more

I purchased some gently used Anderson French doors from OfferUp. Although I do a lot of home improvement projects myself, I wanted someone else to install them since it's a two man job. After a fair amount of research, I came across Shapiro Builders. And I couldn't be happier that I did. You can tell Dov knows the nuances of door installation, and that he takes a great deal of pride in his work. They not only did a great job with the installation, but they also cleaned up the doors, which had been sitting outside for several months, and the job site. I'm having Dov back in the near future to install another French door, once we complete the masonry work. Bottom line: if you need a door installed, call Dov; I'm confident that you'll be glad you did. read more

Dov is without a doubt an old world Craftsman. We had a weathered, damaged, un-cared for front door. Dov was able to repair it and made it look better than new. If you have a flexible schedule and are willing to wait the time it takes for him to work his magic then he is your man. If you want a rush job that looks like everyone else's, then he's not your guy. We have a beautiful front door and are very happy with the work. I had a badly warped wooden entry door that let air in around the edges and was difficult to close and lock after 20 years of usage. Dov did great work that allowed me to keep the door, which I very much wanted to do because the inside matched my décor and the outside had been made rustic by me and decorated with black iron accents. He made the door very usable again. He made a number of adjustments. I am so pleased with his work. And I must state that he is a true gentleman and professional and has honesty and other personable traits that made it a great pleasure to have his services. If you need assistance, do not hesitate to call him. Ron read more

We hired Shapira Builders for a recent door install and had a great experience. Dov, Clayton and their team installed a massive 9 foot double iron door that most folks declined to install due to the complexity of the job. The team was super knowledgeable about door installs and they really cared about doing the job right. You could tell they had a ton of experience and I'm confident that Dov can tackle just about any type of project. We highly recommend and will be contacting them again for future projects. In addition to the great work, Dov and his crew are all super nice guys and a fun group to be around! read more

I requested a quote for two entry doors that I wanted replaced due to their condition. Dov arrived when he said he would, inspected both doors and asked me a few questions. He then told me the doors did not need to be replaced. They just needed some work. At that point I figured he would just say he wasn't interested in doing the job because it would be too small. To my surprise, he provided a fair quote and offered to complete the job that week. He and another guy showed up again as scheduled and completed the jobs efficiently. Both of them were friendly and courteous. Wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. read more

We, too, are now among Dov's flock of happy customers! HE IS THE DOOR WHISPERER, Folks. He repaired our front door's latch side gap w flawless shimming. We have Dov a challenging job and he rose to the occasion! We wanted French doors with custom crown molding and door handle to match the rest of the house. We also wanted a stylish facade put on an old fireplace, which required a bit of imagination and inventiveness. And Dov did each task wonderfully! The doors look like the we're always part of the house. And the fireplace looks fabulous, better than I would have imagined. He also fixed an AC drain for us so it no longer leaked onto the patio. And his bid for everything combined was lower than the competitor's bid for just the doors. We will definitely call him again for future projects! read more

I cannot say enough about the integrity of this man! Dove is honest, knowledgeable, and open. He asks many questions so he can get the job done right. Not only that, he is very reasonably priced. He came in just under another builders quote for our patio roof. We ended up going with the other builder because they were more all-inclusive to the different projects we needed for the entire home. However when I had extra questions that weren't explained properly, I reached out to Dove and he gave me his expert opinion. I owe him a consulting fee, but he doesn't charge one! Was looking for help for some french doors that were in desperate need of repair. The price to replace was outrageous. So I contacted Dov to get another opinion and quote on some options. Dov came out and explained the doors were in good overall, not in too bad shape and said he could fix them. Got back to us with 2 different options of which both were very reasonable in price to fix. We chose the one that would keep the french doors similar to their original design. Dov came back after the parts were ordered and installed in a very timely and professional fashion. And what an incredible result. We are so happy with how good they look!! We have basically brand new french doors that look amazing! Me and my wife could not be happier. Thank you Dov! read more
