I'd like to update this review with our latest experience with Jiménez refinishing LLC. I bought a used table and chair set that needed the chairs tightened up and then I wanted them to refinish it to match the rest of the wood he'd previously done in my home. He came by to give me a quote on Saturday June 14th. He told me not a problem. I specified areas on the table and chairs that I wanted extra attention paid to and he acknowledged said his guys would take care of it, no problem. At that point we agreed to match the remainder of the wood in the house, base boards all the interior doors and door frames front and rear doors too. He told me everything would take one week. I made a deposit got on the schedule. We were scheduled to start Monday June 30. He messaged me on June 17th asking to start now on July 7th. We loved the work he'd done before so we agreed that a week wasn't that much of an inconvenience. I confirmed with Gerardo on July 5th that he was still starting this project on July 7th. The morning of July 7th I asked him what time he planned to arrive, to which he responded "Hey man can I pick it up tomorrow morning instead?" I know things come up in a business, I helped my father run a business when I was younger but it's very unprofessional to ask day of, after the customer is ALREADY reaching out, to move start date with no explanation. He came by Tuesday July 8th took the table and chairs. Then that week also came and took ALL the doors in the house. I texted him on July 23 to confirm his arrival and he told me he would have to bring the table and chairs Friday or Saturday. We had plans to be out of town so I told him Monday the 28th is best. He had my table and chairs from Tuesday July 8 until Monday July 28 when he only brought 4 chairs and told me 2 were still wobbly. So he had my table and chairs for an extra 5 days on top of the 1.5 weeks he was already behind And frankly I'm extremely unhappy with the results. He came in put the table down then continued to work on it adding a clear coat. You told me I was gonna have it almost a week ago and now you've had it 2 extra weeks why isn't it done? But now the 2 leafs that he had brought the prior to the rest of the table do not match the same finish. He never explained why the table and chairs were taking so long. There was missing dowel rods in the chairs when I gave them to him. We specifically asked that the shape and taper be matched to the rest of the chairs in the set. He told me not a problem. These were the 2 chairs that were still wobbly upon partial delivery and we had to wait another day for....So instead of doing the agreed work they just installed bigger dowel rods. The holes weren't even cleaned up and had splinters. The dowels aren't even completely stained and aren't even sanded down really for that matter. Throughout this whole project we have been very accommodating to when he could come with his other projects. He came in and took all the doors to his shop. He got some baseboards done and a couple door frames done in the first week. He then asked if he could get half of the remaining balance, " to pay his guys". I agreed because out of good faith. We had only ever seen him and one other worker during the 3.5 weeks the project ended up taking and is still not really finished. And even paid him the rest at the end of week 2, I agreed and now know I shouldn't have, because when he asked and I'd assumed the table and chairs were around the corner.. but those would still take 1.5 weeks after he was fully paid to be delivered and honestly just not done well. The pieces seem as if nothing was sanded or stripped, the "new stain" has chips already, Missing spots. I started to look around the house a bit deeper since the chairs had been done at such a low standard. And I found so many areas that need touch ups that again don't look as if any prep was done before applying new finish. Extremely disappointed in the way Gerardo handled our business. I have voiced all these concerns with him and he only told me you're right and we had been great customers. And if that's the case why did we get the treatment we did? The table and chairs i refused to allow him to take back since to be honest i can't trust his word on when he will bring them back and if the work would be any good. He gave me a partial refund that we agreed to be fair, Needless to say we will likely not be using his services again. read more

I have coordinated two kitchen remodels and a larger home remodel in the past, so have had my share of experience with contractors. This was by far one of the best experiences. They communicated quickly and regularly, showed up on the days they said they would. Gerardo took the time to explain in detail the process and timeline for the work. I was incredibly impressed with his craftsmanship and ability to match a very tricky custom stain color. He made sure I was happy with the match before completing the rest of the cabinets. His crew was very courteous and neat. We recently hired Gerardo and his crew to refinish our kitchen cabinets. Everything went as smooth as it possibly could. Gerardo was responsive, his price very reasonable, and he got the job done exactly when he promised. On day 1, he removed the cabinet doors and drawer facings and transferred them to his shop, where they were cleaned, sanded and painted. Day 2 his crew sealed off the kitchen and put paper everywhere that wasn't going to be painted. Day 3 they cleaned and sanded and painted the visible parts of the cabinet boxes. We found this company on Facebook and though I am usually pretty skeptical about hiring anyone from Facebook, Mr. Jimenez came over to give us a quote and was very thorough in his inspection of our kitchen cabinets, asking questions about exactly what we wanted the finished product to look like. He made an appointment for two weeks later to pick up all the cabinet doors and refinish them at his workshop and then a few days later to paint the cabinet frames. The price was very affordable and within our budget. He took a small deposit to hold the project start date. I asked him to please plug up one of the holes on all the doors since I was buying new door knobs that only required one hole and he was very accommodating. When the workmen showed up to paint the cabinet frames (ON TIME!!), they were very efficient and worked all day to make sure they would be able to finish the project without delay. They even asked if I had the knobs for the doors and they installed the door knobs for me. I was not expecting that and it was a very pleasant surprise. All in all, I would recommend this company to anyone who wants a contractor that does exactly what they say they are doing and go above and beyond expectations.
