My hot yoga class today was interesting, challenging, empowering and healing. The 90 minute sessions draw from several different yoga modalities to create a one of a kind class. I recognized most of the postures from my experience doing Bikram and Hatha however a good amount were totally new to me as well, which is always fun. There was even downward facing dog today. Yay! Every Saturday at 4pm there's a free class so if you are on the fence about doing hot yoga at Yoga Fairfax, come and enjoy. You will be glad you did.

This is a beautiful place to come for your regular yoga practice. The studio carries a serene calming influence and the instructors are the same. The instructors are oh so stretchy and upbeat and carry an inner energy that creates a joyful atmosphere. The daytime classes offer sunlight shining through the high windows and the glow that's created by the golden draperies create a glowing effect in the room. All who attend classes are friendly and the surrounding make for a fun experience. Just opened at the end of 2009, the hatha/bikrum style studio offers 3 classes a day 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. A newbie special runs for now $10 for a week's worth of classes - the best deal in town. There is enough challenge for the seasoned yogi and excellent instruction for those newer to the discipline. try it you'll like it.

She is a skilled healer, full of information, wisdom, and compassion. Although the workshop was focused (no pun intended) on the eyes, the day stressed the importance of regulating the nervous system and the connection of relaxation to eye care and health. We did a lot of fun exercises including a short hike, working with art materials (with eyes closed), breathing, movement exercises, noticing nature, and more. The main issue here is the parking as there are less than 20 spots and the rest of the potential overflow spaces are marked tow away. The nearby very fancy neighborhood has marked everything permit only and/or tow away, so we had to backtrack about 1.5 miles to town to park and then walk back in - NIMBYs be damned! Others just idle in their cars in the tiny lot and hope for a space to open up. Minus one star for not being more visitor friendly in the neighborhood.

3/21/2026 On the way back from Cataract Falls Trail in Fairfax, CA, we decided to stop by the…read moreCascade Falls we visited last year with no water, all dried up. Since the Cataract Falls had water this time, we believed Cascade would too. It wasn't far from Cataract Falls, but if we drove from the East bay it would take more than an hour through 880 north 80 - 580 - Fairfax downtown. The hardest part of the trail is to find the parking space on the road to the trail. All along the street has no parking signs, we had to park almost a mile from the gate of the trail park. The hike is about 1.5 miles and uphill but not too hard. There are 2 trails to get to the Falls, on the way to the fall we used the right trail, on the way back, we used the left trail. The left trail is easier, wider than the right trail, both are on either side of the creek. This time, the water is there, very nice, although not many people there due to parking we guess. Anyhow, it's a quest that's successfully achieved for us. We had lunch at the top of the falls, all by ourselves which was nice. The next one will be Burney Falls. https://youtu.be/eHk-oivo32w

There are several paths from easily to moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 30 min to complete. This is absolutely my favorite trail for solitude, mindfulness. birding, hiking, and walking, Parking is a bit tough but if you can get there early, you can easily find a spot. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. Enjoy!

I have watched the kids crossing intersections and riding safely on the streets, and not once have I been worried about injury. Today I approached one of the staff ("Matt P") and previously spoke with another staffer ("JJ"), both of whom were professional and clearly dedicated to the safety and enjoyment of the kids. It was a very memorable experience for him overall and he can't wait to come back next year. The leadership there was stellar and the program they have is really awesome. The counselors are very encouraging and give valuable feedback each day. There are 3 difficulty options every day (beginner, intermediate, advanced) that the kids can pick depending on how they are feeling that day. I am grateful that Mitch and Eileen answered my initial email in the winter and that I put aside time to be there for him that week. He became a much stronger and smarter rider because of this camp. I highly recommend this camp for any parent wanting their child to experience some great trail riding in a welcoming and safe environment for kids to explore and learn.
