This is my wife's review, because she could not get back into yelp. Dr. Karayan has been fabulous in just one visit he suggested MRI's on my middle back, brain and thoraic. I have an HMO and it has been a nightmare since I've had numb feet and legs, pins and needles feeling and it traveling into my core. Now all of this was happening during the Thanksgiving week and my doctor has been out and will be out until the end of Thanksgiving. So my husband and I took it upon ourselves to pay for a private company to do three MRI's which was very costly but we got our results right away. In the meantime, I had to go back into Kaiser three times due to the most uncomfortable feelings that I was going through. Dr. Karayan texted and called me on Thanksgiving to see how I was doing. He had mentioned he hadn't seen my MRI results on his portal so I called the imaging company the next day and had them put Dr. Karayan on as the referring doctor. Once Dr. Karayan saw the results, he called me and shared some information with me and made sure to tell me to not go onto google and not to diagnose myself as that would confuse me more. Tomorrow I will have these results to take to the Neurologist. Thank God for Dr. Karayan! He has been so engaged and sincere in helping me while my HMO has not been pro-active and did not recommend the specific MRI's! I will recommend him to everyone that needs help. Long story short, I had a spinal tap and was diagnosed with MS and Fibromyalgia. Fast forward, Dr. Karayan walked through each day with me and helped me with my nutrition and noticed my enzyme level in my liver was off. He helped with a detox mixture and encouraged me to take one day at a time. He also suggested at least 1/2 hour of sunlight a day which I had already been doing. There were many other things but each day Dr. K called me to check in. Again my husband and I paid out of pocket for a private MRI but he was right - I needed the spine, brain and thoracic. He had me diagnosed before Kaiser ! All along Dr. K was spot on, on track. He knows more than your MD and all the rest, why, - he listens and ask questions! This is not done anymore by doctors. I don't really write reviews, but I had to let people know how amazing my experience with Dr. Karayan was. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does and was honest the whole way through. I was experiencing back pain and thought Chiro would help, but Dr. Karayan let me know that it was a muscle issue and gave me exercises to do at home that really helped. Just an overall great experience and would highly recommend to anyone. I personally have not had a lot of positive experiences with doctors, so this was a wonderful surprise. Dr. Karayan is an amazing Chiropractor! He doesn't even really need to ask where you are hurting, because he can just feel your back and tell. It's like he has x-ray vision. I had two car accidents within two and a half months time, neither of which were my fault and he has gone above and beyond to help find the root cause of my pain. I live kinda far, but Dr. Karayan is totally worth the drive. Dr. Karayan is one of the best doctors that you can possibly go to. He does not give up on you no matter what it takes. I have been to other doctors in the past that just send you for one test and then refuse to help you because they, "cannot see your injury from across the parking lot." I have been to doctors who accuse me of faking my pain and who have referred me out to try to make me believe that they are "helping" me... Dr. Karayan not only digs deeper than the average doctor, but he LISTENS to what his patients actually are saying, especially if you are still in pain after receiving a few treatments because he truly cares about each and every one of his patients and he wants them to feel better. If you have any kind of back pain, I highly recommend you go see him no matter where you live or how far you have to drive. Dr. Karayan is just a very cool dude. You can tell that he enjoys what he does. He was very focused on me during our consultation, and is very solution oriented. He told me which things would be temporary solutions, and said he'd rather find a permanent solution for my situation. I have chronic neck and shoulder pain. I've been suffering from this for a year now. My old Chiro did adjustments, but they would only make me feel better for a few days. Dr. K shed a lot of light on my problem, answered all of my questions, and told me which exercises are good for me and which to avoid. He suggested I get an MRI and seems confident in treating this thing once and for all. His assistant is awesome and nice and I'm glad I found him from this very website. I'm a relatively new patient of Dr. Karayan's, but thus far, he has been awesome. I have a really strange, sort of baffling semi-serious health condition and Dr. Karayan is doing his best to figure it out by consulting with other doctors and performing minimally invasive tests. I don't like taking any kind of medication or undergoing anything closely resembling surgery, and I tend to seek out natural and dietary remedies for the few medical problems I've experienced, and Dr. Karayan totally shares the same medical philosophy. Over the past few days, he's been very patient and attentive and has gone out of his way to call me twice, following up on my condition and keeping me posted on lab results and everything. I can honestly say that I've never encountered a doctor like him and I highly recommend him to anyone who is having any kind of problems in their body - even if they think that it's something that his practice wouldn't treat. If anything, it's nice having the opinions and guidance of a doctor who deals with health in a more alternative or integrative way, as opposed to rushing you out the door with a bunch of scary prescriptions and needlessly costly and perhaps dangerous procedures. Having back pain is one of the worst pain anyone can experience . I had an MRI done and anyone would have told me that surgery would have Been my only option , but Dr Karayan saved my life without a harsh surgery and pain medications . He truly is a great , caring and knowledgable Doctor . He spends time with you and even helps you meditate with some nutrition just for your well being . After about 3 months of treatment , that I actually enjoyed because it was painless and so relaxing . My herniated disc and sciatica was no longer a problem and painful . I was back to myself . Dr Shant is one of the best chiropractors. He has the latest machines called the Lordex which were on shown Ch. 4,7 and 5. I went there and was in severe pain. Within a couple of months I was doing very well. Dr.Shant is a very caring doctor and always concerned about his patients. He takes times to listen to your concerns and makes sure your are getting the right treatments. He makes the best adjustments. Along with his adjustments and the Lordex machines he does wonders. His staff, RJ is so professional and caring. She tries to work with your schedule for visits. The office is very clean and very nicely decorated so it makes nice and comfortable. Dr. Karayan is an amazing doctor. First, you just walk in; no appointments are necessary. I have been visiting the doctor two or three times a week for a couple of months now, and only once did I have to wait more one minute (and he even apologized!); usually, I just walk right in. After arriving, the doctor and his assistant, Arpi, greet you. They both are very friendly and fun to talk with. He then begins with a thorough examination. He said something along the lines of, every problem has a solution, but first you have to know what the problem is. As far as the treatment is concerned, I came in because of neck, back and shoulder pain following a car accident. Dr. Karayan started doing adjustments on me, along with heat and electric stimulation, for several weeks now and I am feeling much better. The doctor is also very honest. He doesn't sign you up for anything you don't need, or for any longer than you need treatment. He is all about balance in life, including medical treatment, and is very hesitant about doing things your body doesn't need. In fact, he just informed me the other day that we only have 4 sessions left because after a while, the treatment is no longer as effective. A lesser doctor would have strung me along for many more months to make more money. I even referred my dad to Dr. Karayan after my dad had a pinched nerve. My dad has Kaiser, and the doctor there said he was going to be okay eventually and prescribed him pain meds. Well, the pain meds didn't work after a few days. I suggested that my dad see Dr. Karayan for a second opinion. Dr. Karayan did a number of tests on my dad, many which the Kaiser doctor didn't do, and noticed that my dad was significantly weaker in his dominant arm because of the pinched nerve, which the Kaiser doctor didn't even notice. Dr. Karayan suggested my dad go back to Kaiser and demand an x-ray and MRI. My dad asked about what his Kaiser doctor had said, meaning just taking pain medication until he healed naturally. Dr. Karayan said he could do that, but told my dad that he would be putting unnecessary strain on his kidney and liver; again, the Kaiser doctor didn't tell my dad about this. tl;dr: Dr. Karayan is a very knowledgeable, skilled, honest, and friendly doctor. I contacted Dr. Karayan after my husbands back pain went from bad to worse. My husband had seen many specialist, had a MRI, acupuncture, yoga, chiropractic and a cortisone shot. Nothing was helping. He could no longer work, drive, or sit. Obviously surgery was on his mind. The pain was so sever and his daily life consisted of laying in bed in pain (pain level 9/10). Being the good wife that I am ;) I frantically started researching. I was very against surgery as my husband is only 39 years old! I came across decompression therapy and then found Dr. Karayan's yelp page. On a whim I called him. I left him a pretty "emotional cry for help" message as my husband and I were both is a desperate place. He returned my call within 10min. He spoke to my husband on the phone and asked some basic questions. We were in his office the next day at 9:00 am. He was very honest with us and said my husbands condition was very sever. We agreed to start treatment as we wanted to try EVERYTHING before we went to surgery. Dr. Karayan said it would take at min 20 sessions. My husband being desperate to get out of pain asked if he could come in everyday and do back to back treatments. Dr. Karyan was more than willing. He saw us every morning at 9am for 25 days! He even came in on Saturday and SUNDAY when the office was closed! Dr. Karayan cares so much about everyone who comes in to see him. He was on this 20 day journey with us. Everyday he gave us hope and encouraged us. He is the sweetest most compassionate doctor I have ever met. He truly cared about my husbands recovery. He even called each night to see how the pain was. My husband had good days (pain going down form a 9 to a 5) and bad days (back up to a 8). But steadily the pain began to go down. Finally my husbands pain was constantly a 1-3! This was not an easy journey for us. During the 20 days my husband was basically bed ridden. He went to his apt in the morning (I drove him as he laid flat in the passenger seat) and then laid flat on his back in bed the rest of the day. He commit 110% to this treatment. The results: He went form taking 10 (yes...10) pain revilers, Vicodin, and anti inflammatory a day to taking 1 (mornings can still be a little rough). He went from complete bed ridden to back to work and light yoga all in 30 days. He is continuing to heal and now sees Dr. Karayan once every 3-4 weeks. His pain level went from 9 to 1. I realize this review is very long, I could write another whole page on what Dr. Karayan did for our family, and how amazing, supportive, passionate and knowledgeable he is.
