I have been a patient for a few years and I have found Shannon Vision to be great. I had been a Costco eye doctor person prior and I was amazed at the difference in the quality of care at Shannon Vision. Dr Shannon"s knowledge and quality staff are worth a visit. I like that they use text to communicate. If you call and they aren't available, a text message comes right away asking how they can help. Dr Shannon has always taken the time to explain things. Whether it be a question about a nevus, macular degeneration, or what the heck is going on when being asked "which is better 1 or 2". Turn around for glasses and sun glasses is quite fast. Seemed like a great place at first but I was wrong. They don't really want to help you, just take your money and hope you leave. I asked if they would adjust the nose of my new glasses and they said nobody was here to help as the person who took my order two weeks ago walked by. What I ordered and what I received were not the same thing. So their solution is to avoid me. Pretty disappointed. Wont be back. read more

Called the office asking if they take the vision ins I have for my family, the rep that answered the phone was not professional and will not get me the assistance that I need. Told me to call my vision ins and find out myself. She claims there is no office manager and no one I can talk to about her rudeness towards clients/customers/patients calling in to see if they would like to book an appointment with them. Never service such rude customer service before when they should know business is from people going there and getting services done. Guess they make sure much that the staff does not feel they need more clients/businesses. read more

Dr. Davidson and crew did an amazing job and I can't commend them enough. From the start, you're greeted warmly and really made to feel welcome in their cozy facility. Although it takes a good minute to be seen, it's worth it, especially knowing that Dr. Davidson and the tech (blanking on the name) will take the time to answer any questions or concerns you have about your vision health. On a side note, her tech is absolutely amazing. She knows her stuff! I was blanking on what brand my asthma inhaler is since they jot down your medical info and she was able to guess simply by the color of the tube. Freakin' genius! Beyond that, she was able to give me tips on how to deal with my dry eyes and tell me this med I take can dry out my eyes and so can this med. Baffling. It all makes sense now! O_O I appreciated that if you're not certain about something, they'll give you the information you need so you can do some research on your own later and to see if it's a good fit for you (i.e. different brands of eye drops). They use the best equipment, seem to be quite knowledgeable about everything vision-related, and have a decent glasses selection. read more

Very rude staff, treated my child poorly. When my child mentioned she was squinting to read the letters the doctor did not tell her not to do it, so of course the prescription was not accurate. I had to fight to get them to meet me half way on the extra charges they wanted me to pay to correct the prescription. I mentioned I would leave a bad review and they said I was threatening them. Well, if I actually do it, it is not a threat. Treat customers right....both the dr and the staff are pretty unprofessional. read more

Noticed some changes with the eyes, time for a checkup. Found Shannon Vision via my insurance provider. Dr. Shannon and her staff did a great job explaining things, even when I asked the tough questions. They have some seriously up to date equipment! This is a very nice facility with terrific staff and a great Dr. Dr. Shannon was personable, prompt and very easy to speak with. She took her time with the exam for both myself and my 7 YO daughter. I appreciate that she was patient with my daughter. Her office has new technology for checking the eye that no longer requires the eye to be dilated. This was a great relief to my daughter, who still has bad memories of the first time this was done to her, 3 years ago. There was no high pressure to purchase glasses in the end, although my daughter did find a pair that she loved. Amanda was very sweet and kind to my daughter during the trying on portion of the visit. The office is conveniently located in NW Allen; easy for us to get to from McKinney. My review is mixed. I really liked Dr. Shannon. I thought the exam was thorough and she did not make me feel rushed as she took the time to explain several things. I also liked her assistant that did the pre-screening. My negative comments have to do with the billing and the process of picking out frames, as well as their pricing. I have vision insurance that covers my exam, frames and lenses with a small copay. I picked frames that were about $40 over my frame allowance - no big deal. When it was all summed up though, she told me it would be over $300 for the frames and lenses. I inquired about why so high when I was thinking it should be less than half that. Mind you, this included a $20 promotional credit. I felt like I was at a used car dealership the way she kept calculating numbers and going back and forth about how it includes this discount, and that option, etc and how it would have been $800+ without insurance. Came down on the price a little bit, etc. This was pretty much the same reason I had changed to a new Dr because that was the way I felt at the previous place. What I didn't realize initially is that they are both part of the Vision Source network. Maybe that is just how they do business. Long story short, I went with my gut and left without making a decision. After some checking around, I decided to price frames at Costco. I called and requested my Rx and they sent it right over via email - no hassle, no questions. I went to Costco and bought a pair of designer frames with the same exact upgraded lenses and coatings they had quoted me at Shannon Vision and my total cost after my insurance was only $70. Almost half of what I was expecting to pay! Dr. Shannon is a great doctor and I will return but will just get my prescription in the future and skip the frames/ lenses process at their office. They also over-charged me for part of my exam according to my insurance schedule, but I do not expect it to be an issue to resolve. They were all very friendly but I find it a little disturbing that the prices are so outrageously high even with insurance benefits. It sounds like it is an industry that needs some regulation. They were almost 5x higher than what I ended up paying! read more

She has always been my optometrist and is very knowledgable, very caring, and very good at what she does! My mom hates anything to do with eyes and Dr. Shannon has been very compassionate about that and does everything she can to accommodate. read more

I found Shannon Vision after looking at the Yelp Reviews. She is definitely worthy of 5 stars, after my first visit today. I was impressed. Her staff gave me the best personal attention I've had in years. They did a great job of explaining things, and it was a thorough exam- lots of tests, but I didn't feel hurried at all. Don't go here. There are other eye places with more knowledgeable docs and better policies. Financial terrorist on late fees. Son went in on a Thursday. He forgot our hsa card and the very next Monday they began to enforce a 25 a day late fee. First week of school so extremely busy and could not call back since they close at 430, Maybe doc is trying to get on course for twilight 430??? The girl was nice but the policy just cost the doc 6 eye patcnts from ever returning. And 5 of the 6 wear glasses. They prefer harassing 170 a few days late rather than retain a customer. I will find something else and as a UHC member will recommend them drop from covered eye docs. read more

I had my first visit there on Oct 16 based on a referral from my wife. I needed an eye exam for new contacts and ended up picking up some frames based on a great special they were running. The staff was very professional and responsive. Equipment is clean and state of the art. I would definitely recommend Dr. Shannon and her staff to anyone. read more

This was my first visit to Shannon Vision Care. I needed a routine eye exam for contacts and had not yet found a doctor in the Allen area. The staff was very knowledgeable about my insurance coverage and offered me the best price on ordering my contact lenses. I did not have to wait but two minutes and the tests performed were very thorough and all covered by my insurance. Dr. Shannon was very friendly and gave me the best personal attention I had received during an eye exam. I chose Dr. Shannon based on the fact I had changed jobs and she was closer to new my employer. I don't recommend her if you have a difficult prescription. I ordered a 6 month supply of contacts for monovision and asked to be rechecked when I suspected my prescription had changed. They told me it would be an additional $40 - $170 to be rechecked, based on what they found. Never before has a doctor charged me to be rechecked during the course of the year my prescription is covered. I'm a loyal customer when treated fairly. I asked instead to get my prescription faxed to me and they said that would cost me $20! The prices of their glasses are extremely high by comparison and I felt pressured to buy, but couldn't afford the $600+ price tag. I'll be returning to my previous doctor and driving a little further. They're much more accomodating and patient. It'll be well worth the drive! read more
