The eye exam itself was fine, and ordering two pairs of glasses went smoothly at first. I was told it would take a few weeks, which I accepted. A couple of weeks later, I received a text saying they were ready for pickup. When I arrived, only one pair was actually available. I left and waited another two weeks before following up. On a Friday, I called and was told no one was available, but someone would call me back on Monday with an update. Monday came and went--no call by 2:00 p.m. I called again and was placed on hold until the call dropped. I tried again, was promised a callback "right away," and waited 45 minutes with no response. Frustrated, I called a third time and requested a refund. Once more, I was told someone would call me back. Eventually, I did get a call: they had the lenses but not the frames. Then they offered a similar style in black--I agreed to proceed. Later, another call came saying the frames weren't black after all, but grey. At this point, I was so fed up I just told them to use the grey ones. I'm finally supposed to pick them up tomorrow... I hope. After all this hassle, endless waiting, broken promises, and terrible communication, I seriously doubt I'll ever return. read more

From the front desk to the techs to the folks that help you find the perfect pair of glasses, sunnies or regular . Dr. Bean is top notch, amazing doctor and tremendous bedside manner! Gotta see straight: I cannot start this review without noting the welcome staff - as you come in, they set the tone for the wonderful experience. They greet you right away to prepare you for your visit. I knew I was going to be in good hands when I visited summer '20 and this summer - they instill that type of trust. Next are the techs who handle the testing. I go through several and while there is one instrument I don't like (and you don't like it either - the one that blows a puff in your eyes), I like that they guide me through it instead of assuming I know what is happening at each. I have seen Drs Wimbish and Lollar - love them both. We followed the practice from McDermott to Watters and like the larger space. I also like the glasses selection as we have made several changes on the years. The newer office seems to have more to pick from and at different price ranges from basic to name brand. This team has been there through visual issues and regular check ups. They keep great notes on our progress and are genuine. I'm writing this review to counteract whoever must've written a less than favorable review b/c they don't have a 5-star rating. But I've been going to them for over ten years, started by seeing Dr. Lollar, and switched at some point to Dr. Wimbish. THEY ARE BOTH FANTASTICAL! Different personalities but they both are exceptional and have great expertise. And I say that because I have bad eyes with multiple things - farsighted to the point I almost can't see; stigmatism; triple bifocals needed; distance and close up correction needed. Other optometrists have written prescriptions for me that weren't right, and I had to embarrassingly return my new glasses and get them to try again. I went back again because I love the brands they carry. This time I had a lady adding all the most expensive stuff to my prescription. I was like whoa! This is more expensive than the Gucci glasses Themselves with my discounts applied etc. the lady said I added this for when your up close to the computer etc... I said I do not wear glasses when I'm in front on the computer. Then all the blue rays were added and so much additions stuff that I had said I don't want. Just the package that's needed. TL;DR: Doctors are good. Customer service is not. I guess I'm going to rain on the parade here. The doctor is good and the staff seem nice enough, but for some reason--maybe the pandemic, maybe a lack of accountability--my experience was not good. Went in for an appointment booked 4 weeks in advance and arrived early. I waited 15 minutes past my appointment time, got my initial exam done, and was immediately asked about booking my appointment for next year. Went ahead and booked it, and then when I was walked to the next station, another patient was in there and I was escorted back to the waiting room. Simple mistake, but not a good first impression on a new patient. Doctor conducted the exam, and it went very well. Got contacts, and after two days, realized that I wasn't seeing street signs clearly enough and called for an adjustment, having to revert back to my glasses. After several days of no response, wrote a strongly worded message and the issue was said to be fixed. Unfortunately, the message must not have been clear enough, because they gave me the exact same prescription that didn't work before. Finally got that straightened out, and went through a couple of additional strength lenses, and finally found something that worked. Yesterday, I received a second bill. I'd already paid at the office on the date of the initial visit (which is now more than three weeks ago) and I still haven't been able to buy a year's supply of contacts. I'm not really clear on the billing, but something smells fishy here. It would seem to me that $500 ought to cover the works (and that does not include the contacts themselves--that's just for the exam), but for some reason, I'm being nickeled and dimed. This operation has wasted a great deal of my time and their billing makes it seem as if they may be taking a few too many bites of the apple. The zeal with which they pursued an annual appointment doesn't match up with the careless customer service errors they have made. As of this morning, I'm actually back to wearing glasses, since I've run out of test contacts and, again, nobody will call me back. And since the process of ordering a year's worth of contacts involves a cumbersome rebate, I've decided that I've been doing too much heavy lifting here, and locking myself into more paperwork is just beyond my level of patience now. I'm going to call, pay the remainder of my bill, cancel my appointment for next year, and take my prescription to Costco, who actually care about building a customer relationship and have managed to convince me to sign up annually for about a decade now. It's unfortunate, because I would prefer to support a small business, but small businesses ostensibly offer a more focused customer experience, which I did not get. Think twice. read more

Just thought I'd throw a shout out to Dr. Wimbish and the rest of the team that worked with me. The initial paperwork was a piece of cake which is always a plus. I have been a patient of Dr. Wimbish for 15 years. He and his team have always been stellar! I have become difficult to fit in contacts as I have aged and they have worked with me on multiple follow ups until we were able to get the right prescription for my old eyes. I have had a positive experience with the doctor (Dr. Wimbish), and that's the only reason why this is not a 1-star review...but I hate to do this because my low review is a reflection of his staff only! My appointment was almost a year ago, but totally forgot to review! So, here it is: I will say that the billing was the most frustrating part of my experience. I have had several experiences in the past where I've been screwed over in independent doctor's offices. Because of this, I only see doctors form UT Southwestern, or some major hospital. Scheduling sucks in these hospitals, but if you want to save hundreds of dollars you were meant to keep anyway... I don't know why I am always a victim, but it's probably because it's easier to screw over a minority (because we're just dumb and non-persistent, I guess). With my decent eye insurance I had, I didn't expect to pay around $200, less or more. Before the doctor ever sees you, make sure to ask somewhere along the lines of, "Before I walk out this door, how much am I expected to pay?" After my appointment, I was appalled when the billing lady told me how much is due. It's like someone stabbed me in the heart...I wish this office had the courtesy to tell me how much I'd pay before the appointed started. I wish I never stepped in here. I should've gone to Target Optical, like I have been doing for the past several years, with no complications. Oh, and I tried ordering from 1-800-CONTACTS. Before this company could send me my order, they had to get verification from the doctor. They sent in a fax to verify with Allen Eye and after 2 business days, there was no correspondence. I called Allen Eye, and they said they received no fax to verify my prescription even after 1-800-CONTACTS kept sending them faxes. Hmm... I had a little back and forth communication between Allen Eye and 1-800-CONTACTS...but since the latter company wanted my money and I wanted my contacts, they just went ahead and shipped it. I have a conspiracy to believe Allen Eye doesn't want its patients to buy from a 3rd party vendor. read more

They wanted me to wear and mask and check my temperature just to look at their frame selection. Not one other customer in their beautiful new office. I was prepared to buy new glasses, sunglasses with prescription lenses and 6 months worth of contact. Probably close to a $1000. I would wear a mask for an exam of course, but not wear a mask and have them check my vital signs to take 5 minutes to browse their frames. Moving on. Business that is being reasonable and not acting in unreasonable fear gets my money. I suggest all consumers do the same and patronize where you feel comfortable. read more

I am so impressed with this office and Dr. Wimbish. I read the reviews and decided to try them as I am having a horrible time with diagnosing and getting relief for dry eye syndrome. His staff is so sweet and helpful and they go over and above sending in prescriptions and making sure they are affordable and or give you coupons or rx card to make sure you get the lowest price. Went to a specialist that has you wait an hour 1- 2 hours and sends you on your way. Love his attention to detail and personality. Can't say enough good things about them. The personal touch and care extended all the time are highly commendable. When my husband needed additional treatment we were referred promptly to other facilities that could assist at drastically a reduced cost since we were self-pay clients. The follow-up by Dr. Wimbish to ensure that we got good service and care from the referred facility for the procedure to remove his cataracts is very extraordinary. I started seeing Dr. Lollar 3 years ago. I have an specific eye disorder that is hard to treat and have been through several eye specialists and eye doctors to deal with it. Dr. Lollar has been the ONLY one to listen to what I was saying about pain. He made his recommendations for the best treatment for my problem, then allowed me to try what I wanted telling me that we could switch at anytime if what I wanted didn't work out. When it did work out he was thrilled for me and happy to keep going with that treatment for as long as we are able. He is thorough, listens to his patients and compassionate. His office staff both front and back are amazing! Every time I come in or call I am greeted with a smile, a happy voice and a willingness to help me with whatever concerns I have. My family sees him now as well in spite of the hour long drive for us to get there. Well worth that mileage to be seen and treated by such a wonderful group of professionals! read more

I've seen Dr. Wimbish and Dr. Lollar since 2006 - they are extremely thorough and manage our family's eye care very well. We have had some incidents/rare occurances in our eyes and they have diagnosed and treated 2 out of 3 of them correctly and efficiently. My husband had to be referred to a specialist where he is undergoing further treatments. Before going to this practice, I went to many others in town and in McKinney. These two have been - by far - the best that I have seen. Prescription glasses/contacts are available "in store", but of course you can take your prescription anywhere. If you wear contacts, there is an extra fee for a contact exam. I used to wear contacts and a couple times they had a coupon that I could use -they were BOGO when you bought a certain amount of boxes. Receptions are very kind and lovely as well as the techs. I have been a patient of Dr Lollar and Dr Wimbish for over 15 years now. Both of my sons have seen them since elementary school, as well (they are now 18 and 24). I have an eye condition that requires me to be seen more than the typical checkups and needs to be monitored a few times a year at the least (even more often during the first 5 years). I can honestly say I have NEVER had a bad experience, any issue, questioned their care or expertise in their industry, and most importantly, I have ALWAYS felt like they truly, truly CARE about me as a patient and a person. Especially in today's world, it is rare to find physicians that make you feel like they care more about your health and what is going to be the best decision for you, than they do about "making a dollar" and getting you in and out of their office. If every profession in the healthcare industry could have physicians and staffs like Dr Lollar and Dr Wimbish ... This world would be a much better place and everyone would be a LOT healthier and happier! read more

This is an office that is very well run. Dr. Wimbish puts a lot of thought into each of his recommendations for my daughter and is interested in getting to know her as a person.
