The location has a windowed kitchen for curious patrons, and the seating area features floor-to ceiling glass to look out onto the parkette between Tsuen Wan Plaza and Citywalk. Quite scenic, I imagine this location to be an excellent low-to-moderate spending dinner date location. We got there just as they were filling up for the first round of dinner, and were immediately intrigued but their multi-flavour xiaolongbao variety set on the very first page of the menu. We decided it wasn't worth the price to get such a risky/avant-garde item. The rest of the menu consists of all your other Shanghainese classics: xiaolongbao, dumplings, fried pancakes, buns, hand-made noodles, casserole soups, etc. In the end we ordered two noodle soups, one order of xiaolongbao (4 pieces), one order of potsticker dumplings (4 pieces), and some plain greens. The dim sum items were fresh and tasty, with traditional textures (thin skin for xiaolongbao and thicker for potstickers), and the noodles were definitely tasty and had the hand-made noodle taste to them. While everything tasted fine, it was obvious that the restaurant was a chain and a reliable choice if anything - nothing super exciting but nothing missing the mark. I was quite happy with my orders and the place deserves a solid 4 stars for reliability and taste, and even convenience of its chain's locations. The portions are typical of updates Hong Kong places - just enough to fill, no leftovers. If you're a big eater be sure to order some extra noodles. The service was very quick and we never had to wait except for the food to be prepared. There was some wait time for food to come out, but we were willing to wait if it meant freshly prepared food. Our teacups were kept filled throughout the night, which made the wait tolerable.

If you're walking around at the Tung Chung outlets and looking for a place to eat, a word of advice…read more- steer clear of Golden Shanghai. Okay, that's just my opinion - I had a pretty bad experience here and the dishes we ordered ranged between average and below average. My mother and I were there for dinner - we ordered the xiao long bao, braised wheat gluten and shrimp and egg fried rice. Maybe this wasn't enough for us to draw an accurate conclusion? I don't know. The food came pretty fast. The xiao long bao came first, and at most restaurants, it usually comes out so hot that I leave it to cool for a minute or two, lest the soup burns my tongue. My mother ate it first and immediately shook her head and told me it was just warm. And it was - well, it was between warm and hot, but closer to warm and nowhere near the temperature a xiao long bao should be when brought to the table. The skin was kind of thick in my opinion, but it we mostly the fact that it wasn't even hot that made it so disappointing. The braised wheat gluten tasted a little funny - I'm used to eating the one at Din Tai Fung, and this definitely was different. The gluten pieces were really big and looked like nobody had bothered to cut it. The fried rice was actually not too bad - but well, how wrong could you go with fried rice? I found it slightly oily though but it was better than the xiao long bao and the wheat gluten. Overall, I wouldn't recommend coming here. The food was underwhelming, and service was alright though they did take their own sweet time getting us the bill when we called for it. If you're at Citygate and are there for lunch or dinner, I'd recommend Deli Viet - just one floor down - instead.

Won't be coming back here for a while!…read more Been here 5 times in the last 2 weeks for year end lunches and special gatherings. Of all these gatherings, I had order most of my favorite dishes (please see other review), especially the GOLDEN TOFU. This time around, it was far below standard and had to bring it to the attention of one of the Supervisor. I had explained to her that I have been her numerous times in the last 2 weeks and ordered this dish every time. She had checked with her boss and said that this dish was "up to standard" as the next table ordered the same. Hello! Is there a slightest possibility that the chefs/cook could have made a short cut this time around? Most places would have took the dish away and void it from your check. But this "supervisor" had insisted that there was nothing wrong with the dish even though I had shown her pictures of the same dish from my last 2 visits. It's was obvious that she wanted to avoid coming near our table or even eye contact. If she was one of the lower ranking staffs, then it would be acceptable, but she was not. When asking for the bill, I deliberately waited for her and added a few her comments about the dish. Still no luck.
