I asked when I went into S H if they were the same people that owned the place a couple of years ago, because the food was terrible. They said that they have owned it for 16 years... MDF wanted to try it, so I bit the bullet. When I got the food home the first thing we tried was the spare ribs, they were the driest, burned ribs ever, to their credit when I called and complained, they offered to replace them and delivered them to us, they were better. I should have waited to sample the rest of our order before calling. So here is a report on the rest of the order; shrimp egg roll, terrible, General Chow chicken, a weird taste, pork egg foo young, a weird flavor. I'm really surprised about the 3 starts right now. I feel like there are a lot of "Karens" out there that are easily upset. I order here all the time. I have never had bad food here, it's always delicious. The people are nice, and it's not over priced. We always order a lot of food, and I have never had any missing items. We have a house in Margate, and we drive over or get delivery here only. Our other house is in Center City Philadelphia, and this is better than any restaurant I can think of there, even in Chinatown. It's the best around, and we've tried them all. Had not returned here for food in awhile. Very inconsistent. Ordered delivery and proved again to be a correct observation. Cold Sesame noodles average. Kung Pao Chicken great as always. Boneless BBQ pork, burnt and bitter. I did call to say something about the pork, Owner brought new order but informed me that "that's how our customers like it" I guess I'm not a customer!! Avoid at all cost if you suffer from migraines. I ordered the shrimp fried rice. It was loaded with salt. But I was hungry, and didn't think a couple of nibbles would hurt me. I had eaten from here one other time, and despite it being salty, wasn't too bad. Not great, but not bad. Yesterday, I should have thrown it in the trash. A day after, on a Saturday too boot, I still have this horrible headache from the salt and msg in that food. I'm partly to blame, yes for eating it. Pretty good food. Lo Mein and General Tso was flavorful. Speedy delivery to our hotel room, met the driver in the hotel lobby. Wasn't a big fan of the scallion pancakes, but everything else was great and we would gladly go back. read more

If I were to title this review, it'd be "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad". This is an unassuming small storefront on the road from Somers Point to Longport. Blink and you may miss it. There are a couple tables inside but no wait service. It's basically a takeout place. As Chinese takeout goes, especially at the Shore, this is better than average. We started with very good won ton soup, delicious steamed meat dumplings and a disappointing veggie egg roll (overdone, too much curry). Moved on to a wonderful General Tso's with, yes, real chicken, not ground up processed chicken product. Nicely spicy and sweet. Also quite yummy according to the group was the Shrimp and Chinese Vegetables, chock full of large shrimp and crisp veggies. The Veggie Fried Rice, on the other hand, largely consisted of onions. Disappointing. Not a broccoli floret to be seen. We'll definitely be ordering here again as it's the best we've found in the area...so far. read more

Their food is good and we've had them deliver for a few years, we just have a problem with one of their delivery drivers. They have 2 delivery drivers one is a male and one is female. The female driver is outstanding and very nice and polite, while the male driver is extremely rude every time he drops off food to us. The male delivery driver, when I fill out a credit card slip, always tells me to "fill out here and here" implying that I need to specify a tip amount. I always give a generous tip to the drivers each time they come, so I don't need a lesson on how to fill out a restaurant cc receipt. Another example of his rudeness is when he delivered over the holidays, he said "Merry Christmas or whatever holiday it is that you celebrate" in a rude and condescending tone. I'm not surprised he has to tell people to fill out the tip amount since I'm sure he's rude to not just me and if that's true, he apparently doesn't get many tips from other customers. After several times of this I called the restaurant to discuss this with the manager and the person at the restaurant who answered the phone said I couldn't talk to the manager because he only speaks Chinese. So I went on to explain about this driver and ask the person on the phone to never send the male driver to our home again. She said we were the only ones who complained. In that case we will find another place to order Chinese food. It's too bad, since we like their food but I won't tolerate that delivery experience from them any more. read more

As a Chinese Take out place and that it's in one of the worse areas to find decent food other than pizza, this place was a pleasant surprise. Definitely no frills but the food was well seasoned and spicey where we asked for extra spice. Not everything was good, The Scallion Pancake was way overdone and was as hard as a brick. It had some good heat to it and the Shrimp tasted very good. Then let's touch base on the Szechuan Beef. I asked extra spicey and I got (finally from a takeout) SPICEY! I got home and after a couple of bites I realized it was not a firm tofu like I tried to convince myself but chicken. I called and was told that I had ordered chicken not tofu. Still looking for my "go to" Chinese restaurant on or around the Island. The cashier was friendly, the portions were good, and the prices were very reasonable. Its an open kitchen so you can see whats going on, and I'm almost positive the cashier also made my meal while the cook was sitting down. If you are sensitive to sodium, please by pass this place. I have never been a fan of take out Chinese food. The 'dark, I am not sure that it is chicken but what the hell' meat that you usually get. Dried out fried rice, etc...but this place is different. Our fried rice wasn't fresh at all... tasted as if it sat around awhile and they reheated it... the shrimp was way over cooked... very chewy & rubbery....our Cokes were very flat... TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE EXCUSE FOR A CHINESE RESTAURANT I ordered takeout from this establishment and I'm quite dissatisfied with the food, as well as appalled by the service. I ordered a gen. tso's combo and an order of steamed dumplings. The dumplings are very mealy and quite tasteless. Also, their small container of sauce tastes like a tablespoon of soy sauce with a cup of water- quite watered down. The gen. tso's is WAY, WAY too salty and it all cost me over 17 dollars!! That means that we spent $10 on gen. tso's chicken that was unacceptably salty and more for crappy rubber dumplings. On an occasion a few weeks earlier, someone in my family ordered crab wontons and chicken and vegetables. Their chicken and vegetables were almost inedibly salty (they didn't even eat half) and the crab wontons came with no dipping sauce. I'm definitely not wasting money here again because I feel that good customer service can smooth over mostly any scenario in the food industry, as opposed to not giving a flying buck. I called to tell them what I thought however they were rude and apathetic; like many places, they haven't caught on to the fact that word of mouth and your reputation take you a long way in this business. Thus, this makes another Chinese takeout place scratched off my list and another restaurant I will make sure I tell EVERYONE to stay away from, including all the summer tenants that rent our properties during the busy summer months. I just don't understand why one can't find a good Chinese place around here. Seems like anyone can open up a shack and serve salty and expensive nonsense these days. It's alright, however. Love this place. Best Chinese takeout food along the Cape-Atlantic Jersey shore area.. We have tried multiple Chinese take out places since we re-located to the shore 10 years ago-- from Cape May thru Atlantic County, and this tiny, little family owned/operated business on Maryland Ave in Somers Point is, without a question in our minds--the single best place for Chinese takeout food!. The owner is the best--very friendly, efficient and looks after orders to make sure they are correct. Look, we have not had a bad experience here..We regularly travel the 25 miles RT to enjoy this takeout food. The brown garlic sauce on the shrimp/chicken/Chinese veg combo is awesome!
