I was told the soup dumplings here are some of the best in Denver, so I decided to try it myself. Came in at about seven on a Saturday night and had no issue getting a booth for two. Our server Xavier was so friendly and outgoing, helpful in giving good recommendations, and we went with his personal favorite, the firecracker as well as the soup dumplings The soup dumplings came out first. we got one good one, the rest of them had very little soup in it and were a little bit disappointing. The owner came over to check how we were doing and when we let him know, he was so apologetic and immediately insisted they make us a new garage. Wendy's came back, they were much better. The firecracker chicken plate was yummy, the chicken was cooked really well, we were told it would be spicy, but it didn't have even a hint of spice to me, still yummy though. I stopped in for lunch recently and was very impressed with this place. The restaurant is lovely (looks like it might be a nice date night spot), the service was friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent. I had the Shrimp and Vegetables lunch special. Lunch specials come with a choice of soup (I had hot & sour), a choice of rice (I had steamed), and a veg egg roll. Everything was hot and tasty. The vegetables and shrimp were both nicely cooked; the veg was still crisp and the shrimp were succulent (and there were more of them than I was expecting!). It was a nice lunch and reasonably priced (I thought). And I was full when I left. It was my first time here and I do plan to return. My only critique is about the music that was playing. It was lovely piano music, but it was a tad sedate for me midday. Maybe something a bit more lively that time of day? I think the piano music would be nice at dinner time. Ordered the happy family tonight for delivery. Unfortunately, it was not nearly as good as when I dined in. The pros: food was fresh, hot, and fast. Cons: not as ordered. I ordered extra spicy and no onions. My order came with onions and not spicy at all. The sauce had kind of a fishy taste... I'm guessing a fish oil. Egg rolls were excellent. read more

We came here in a whim looking for a new Asian inspired place that was near and this came up nearby. The owner is always here and very accommodating when free. The place does get quite busy so come early! The food is amazing and totally worth it! In my opinion the quality is above what other Asian bistro restaurants are around here, honestly better than Jing's quality if you ask me!! My man had the chicken fried rice and he said it was beyond amazing quality and texture.... This is our 2nd time back. The ambience is also very quaint. We are bar people so sitting at the bar is what we do but if you do sit at tables they do have quaint booths for you to sit at with those cute Japanese balloons or they even have awesome spinning tabletops that spin around to share with guests if you get multiple apps and entrees! Been wanting to try this location and finally made it here. Sunday afternoon 4 30 pm, very 1st one. Host greeted us as we walked in and as soon as we sat down, our server came out with water. She was ready to take our order. The restaurant appears to be using the same menu as the location #1. Few select beers were available and very limited. Tried few dishes and seems to be ok. Hot and sour soup was to my liking. Dark and flavorful. Just add more soy sauce and black peppers, viola! This tastes like nostalgia to me. I grew up in Colorado and went to the original Shanghai Garden by the old Southglen Mall. It's been 15 years since I've lived in CO and when I saw there was a second Shanghai Garden near where I was staying, I knew I had to go. After 15 years it still tastes the same. I had the sesame chicken and it brought me back to childhood. Crispy, tangy and with a slight kick. Our server was pretty high energy and very nice. The interior was also very well done. It had the classic Chinese restaurant vibe with a modern twist. I look forward to coming back to try more dishes that I used to have as a child. read more

I am always looking for a good Chinese restaurant near me so I was glad to see Shanghai Garden opening a more convenient location. They are still completing the build so the entry wasn't finished but it looked like it was going to be a bar. The seating area had nice booths and tables and there were 2 large screen TV's that didn't seem to fit with the vibe. There were panda statues all over - which I thought was cute. The service was great - friendly and efficient. Bridget was our server and a young man was also helping out. Our food was good - the Mongolian beef was tender and flavorful but some of the Sesame chicken was a little tough. It was a nice dinner but I probably wouldn't order the chicken again. read more

Rude lady, maybe the owner (?) drove me away a few years ago. It was my families go-to Chinese food restaurant until that day. I walked in and ordered some soup to take-out. A gal from from the kitchen handed me this simple food order. She walked ten feet. I tipped her a two dollar bill. The "owner" lady loudly yelled, "Next time tip more"! The entire restaurant and bar patrons looked at me like I was a cheap piker. If anything I always over tip. Sorry, they'll never see a penny from me and since then they have not. nice, clean establishment. very friendly owner. plenty of parking and a good location. we ordered takeaway and it was ready really quickly and the food stayed warm long enough to get it home and enjoy it. the orange chicken was so good. quite flavorful and tender. good portion size. the kung pao chicken was mostly a variety of peppers with a few sprinkles of peanuts and a bit of chicken. while the texture & taste was en pointe, it was very meager in the meat portions & no water chestnuts - the nerve! the kung pao triple delight was really good, but again, the main ingredient was peppers and the meat was maybe 1/3 of the entire dish. the wontons were barely warm & were also stale. although we liked the crunchy edges, the rest of the wonton was a bit undercooked/soggy. for the price, we will likely visit on a very rare occasion, as hoong's palace offers bigger portions at a more affordable price. read more

This isn't my 1st time here and the last time I had a great experience but this time I ordered chicken and broccoli and that's literally what they gave me pale chicken and broccoli with a strange taste. The lack of sauce made this dish taste like nothing it was zero flavor and it was over $20 which is crazy I don't know if I'll be back again. read more

Absolutely loved this spot and will be our go to Chinese Restaurant from here on out! Drove past it a few times over the past few weeks not sure if it was open, but finally decided to give it a try once confirming it was. Food was excellent and by far some of the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. We've been searching for a go-to spot for a while now and glad we don't have to look anymore! Service was excellent and everything was super clean. They are still finishing up the interior with a bar install and such, but we hope to make it our spot we go at least monthly to enjoy some great food and hospitality! I hosted a group of 10 for lunch at the Shanghai Garden on Arapahoe and Peoria. We were greeted with such friendly wait staff (and the owner!) and enjoyed every minute of our two hour lunch! The food was so delicious. I cannot wait to return! The wonton soup is the best I ever had and my daughter said the egg drop soup is the best she ever had. We all loved our eggrolls. I've been eating at Shanghai Garden since it was in the SouthGlenn mall across the street. Yes a mall, all indoors no streets to saunter down. Food was great then and still great now. My family still gets it at least once a month. I am not that fortunate as I don't live in the area any more. But if I want some great Chinese food, that's where I am apt to go. read more

My wife and I stopped in Sunday afternoon around 4:30pm. The restaurant was about half full. We were seated, and a few minutes later, a young man (High school age) took our order. We ordered crab cheese wontons, a medium hot & sour soup, and orange chicken. We waited about 10 minutes and a waitress brought the chicken, and the crab cheese wontons at the same time. I asked "do you always bring the appetizer and entree out at the same time"? Her exact answer was "yep". And I asked about the soup which she seemed to know nothing about. She went into the kitchen and got the soup and brought it to us, which was not even warm. We took a couple bites of the chicken, at which point the waitress came running out of the kitchen and said "Wait! That's sesame chicken, not orange chicken" (there were no sesame seeds on it, so I honestly couldn't tell it was sesame chicken). So she grabbed the chicken, and whisked it away, and immediately brought out the orange chicken. We were rather upset at her answer about everything coming to the table at the same time, but continued on. We started with the wontons. They were completely cold, as was the soup. The orange chicken was barely lukewarm. Taste wise the food was probably good if it was served hot, but it most definitely wasn't. Nobody ever came back to check on us until the bill was delivered 20 minutes later. Not good at all. We've been going to the location near Arapahoe Rd and University for years, and have always been happy with both the service and food, but this place was exactly the opposite of that. We were on this end of town, so we decided to give it a try. Never again. I realize this location is fairly new, but I would think even a child would know the soup and appetizer should come first, and there's no excuse for cold food. Stick with the original location. The wait staff at the new location needs some serious additional training. read more

8/31/25- First off even though they look like they are closed on the outside with the remodeling going on, they are actually open. There was a smell of saw dust in the air which I like as a former tech kid, but I don't know how others will view the smell. Our server was nice. The problem was the food. I would say it was just average which would have gotten them 3 stars as an average score, but they lost the third star due to the price. Their lunch prices mostly ran $14-17, but in the Denver Metro area there is so much competition for Asian restaurants, and many that have much better food have lunch prices that run $9-12. So they are overpriced for mediocre food. The portions were also smaller then what other places give you for lower prices. Would I go back? Maybe in at least a year to see if they have improved the quality, size, and price of the food. But at present I can not recommend them. read more

Appetizer egg rolls were nice sized and very good along with the sweet and sour sauce and hot mustard. Had the hot and sour soup and won ton soup, they were exactly how they were supposed to taste. We had Orange Chicken and Mu Shu Pork. Both very good, they only thing about the Mu Shu Pork rolls it would be nice not to have them rolled in the kitchen as the wrappers get a little soggy as they sit on the plate. Service was also very good, wasn't busy so server was just attentive enough. read more
