We live in the area and bring our guests here when they visit- everyone in our groups are always polite, kind, professional - but unfortunately this last trip the staff were extra rude so the beautiful course can no longer make up for how the people who work there treat their customers. I noticed that the other poor reviews were specifically about rude marshals, management staff, and backed up tees so hopefully the owner chooses to take the feedback seriously.

Indeed, it's a…read morefine golf course. - Well designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr - Well maintained by Sunriver Resorts. I saw few on-course defects. - The course is not terribly difficult if you can hit the fairway. There's not a lot of water but quite a few bunkers, including fairway bunkers. - But the course shows its fangs when you land in the second cut of rough. It's quite punitive. Your ball may disappear. - Greens are lightning fast. I found the subtleties of the breaks difficult to read, as did my playing partners. - Carts are nice. No GPS. You can buy a yardage book for $10 (I use a GPS golf app). - Plenty of practice greens and a medium sized driving range. I didn't see a practice bunker. - Cost is steep but Deschutes County residents get a discount. - Pace of play is good and we saw a marshall a few times while playing. Round took 4.5 hours. A really nice and informative starter controls things at the clubhouse. - There was no beverage cart when I played but I suspect it was because of the cool temps and it being late in the season. If you want to play but don't have clubs, I noticed you can rent a really quality bag. Not like the junk available at a lot of courses.

Water in almost every hole with the river running through it. The green complexes are super unique as well. The staff was also fantastic from check in, to the golf shop staff, the starter, and even the snack bar lady. Clearly they all love their jobs. We loved it as a family and will be back.

We had a Christmas day rental of 3 sleds. It was an awesome fun time but I gotta say having a…read morechecklist would be helpful for the team. So we got one of the double trailers the night before. The next day, a light rain was falling which we knew meant snow to up at Wanoga. As we were driving our way up, my trailer started swinging back and forth like it was going to flip. I slowly pulled over and found that the lynch pin that held the trailer tilt down was missing. No idea how that could be gone. I walked along the freeway a bit to see if it had recently fallen out but nothing. Plus it was snowing and traffic was zipping past so I opted to go back to my vehicle. Not the pain in the ass I was looking for. We called and it took an hour for them to get back to us. By then, I had fixed it using a gear tie I had in my truck to latch it down. I also did a ratchet strap set up to try and hold it down and after assistance with one of Oregon State Police's finest, we were on our way. The sleds were amazing. I preferred the Polaris Assault over the Pro's. My buddy compared them to one being a bad ass Goldwing (the Assault) and the other a bad ass crotch rocket. But seriously, they were both super fun to ride and the location great. On the way back, about 3 blocks from dropping things off, my gear tie snapped and obviously the ratchet wasn't enough as the back of the trailer tipped and I was dragging metal on the street. I got it fixed and back again. The sad part was there were no apologies just something about the "prior customer must not have secured it". We also ended up leaving with the keys for the sleds. About 5m's from where we were staying we got a phone call asking about them so we turned around. Why my gf didn't leave them in the sled I don't know but we had to turn around to drop them off. Anyway, this brings me back to my first sentence. A simple checklist for the company and the customer before leaving with the sleds and after dropping them off would be helpful to all involved. Would I use them again? More then likely since I now know more about what is going on but I definitely would shop around first.

Lucky lake is one of my favorite options in the cascade lakes. The 1.3 mile hike in is just enough…read moreto keep it from getting super crowded most of the time but is short enough that you can hike in some chairs and a blow-up paddle board. There are some great little camp spots as well and you can head out on some over night backpacking to the 6 other lakes close to it. I highly recommend checking it out!
