Shoe sizes are super weird- I asked for a 10 and got an 8/9 but they fit... but then the 3 kids in my group all got shoes that didn't fit. ‍ Most bowling balls didn't have weights on them, which made picking a ball harder. System was glitching during game so balls we're getting trapped and not returning. Also only 2 chairs per lane and then a table way behind you up some stairs makes it hard to wrangle children and keep them interested in the game. read more

Full disclosure: I don't bowl. I come to Lava Lanes occasionally to bet on horse races and grab a beer. The bar area is very comfortable and welcoming. You can bet on horse races that are being shown from several tracks across the nation. Don't know how to bet or use the machines? No problem. There is always someone there to help. Chris, one the nicest bartenders in town will take your food/drink order and do everything to make you feel like a "regular." This might be one of the most underrated places in Bend. read more

We only went to the bar. We did not bowl. There were a lot of people bowling and it looked like they were having fun. We were at a table at the bar. Probably should have turned around when we noticed every table was dirty. Either un-bussed tables or just grimy with drink rings. We asked for a towel or a napkin so we could clean it ourselves. The bar tender gave us the last paper napkin he had. You order drinks and food from the bar. We got 2 beers, that was fine. We ordered food. The pizza was just bad. Didn't even finish one slice. The BLT was OK. Not good. We took that as a sign to leave, we won't be back. Not a good place for food, drinks may be ok as long as you don't mind standing or sitting at a gross table. read more

First off service. Impecable, like corn on the cob I just got buttered up . The employees had nothing but kind words and fast service. The balls what you look for, if you were looking in attic. Little dirty but do the job. I could feel the grime encapsulating my grubby little fingers... felt like home. I must say the professional needs to check the levels on those alleys again. I have been to plenty of bowling alleys and this was a great one. We didn't try the food but the beer was good and quick. Bartender was great. Full bar options was a bonus and could get some shots to get the bowling started. Lanes were in great shape and had a lot of fun with the family. This bowling alley has a the best hidden gem on Fridays and Saturdays. Their karaoke!!!! Let me say Bonnie the bartender is adorable, attentive and so sweet. I laughed, I played shuffle board, I did amazing at bowling until I actually lost the game and my friend ordered a hot dog with crinkle cut fries that were so tasty and hot and just what I needed. We saw people using drugs in the parking lot, which made us feel unsafe. The manager, an older woman, approached us aggressively, asking if we were smoking or drinking while we were just waiting for a lane. We were then charged incorrectly for a single game instead of the hourly rate, and when I tried to address it, the manager denied everything. Another employee even laughed at me when I asked about the lane. The lanes were dirty, and the place didn't feel kid-friendly at all. Overall, the staff was unprofessional, and the environment felt unsafe. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

My family and I waited at the first desk for five minutes without anyone offering any help, even though they were right in front of us. Instead, they stood there chatting to each other. We went here twice for "Kids Bowl Free" during the summer. We went around noon and it wasn't crowded at all. Afterward, we played games at the arcade and had fun doing that also. The staff was so warm and welcoming. We'll definitely be back more often. Can't believe in the 3 years we lived here, it was our first time this summer. It has a fun vibe and there are plenty of lanes. Also I loved how the bumpers automatically went up for my daughter, then back down for my turn. We didn't get to try the food though, however next time because seeing garlic fries on the menu was tempting! Prices seem very reasonable (we paid $5/shoe rental). I had fun bowling however our lane stopped working multiple times during our game, there was one frame where a few pins were missing. I go to talk to the young man at the service desk and see if for the inconvenience, we could at least have one free game. He was rude and told us that we missed nothing and finished our game so he wouldn't help. Customer service was questionable, lane operation below par (not in a good way) . Will I go back, yes. In all fairness I arrived an hour before close with a group of 8. We played one game but we're immediately greeted with hostility from the lady with purple hair. No hate to her but she massively impacted the quality of our night. She accused me of hitting my vape inside when I did not, and threatened to kick me out. She then sent another staff member up to check only my ID to make sure I was of age to drink my cider. As someone that works hospitality and customer service this might've been the worst experience I've had with someone else in the industry. I know some customers are awful but we rushed to get done before closing and finished a good 15-20 minutes before closing. Safe to say this experience is enough for me to never come back. She seems like she was having a hard day but targeting me was not acceptable. I hope she find a job she's happier with and doesn't ruin anyone else's experience. This place is really bad. First of all, it's dirty, which is to be expected of a bowling alley but even still. The bartender is incredibly unfriendly which would be fine except he took absolutely forever getting our drinks despite there being an empty bar. The lanes are totally messed up--pins and balls are constantly getting caught in the gutter, and at one point our lane was blacked out for a full 5 minutes (which we paid for) with no explanation. Reviewing the Karaoke bar only. I am baffled why they allow the karaoke host to treat their bar as his own political platform. His dirge of a song denouncing immigrants, gays, and most of America was so depressing and bizarre it killed any energy that might have existed in that brightly lit, basic bar. read more

I spent an hour waiting for a lane after I was told it would be 45 minutes. The entire time I waited there were over 6 lanes sitting empty and never used. People came in behind me and were given lanes while my son and I waited. After over an hour I asked the girl/guy who was working and they informed me that it would be another half hour at least. Since you can't reserve lanes here I am amazed how poorly you are letting your business be ran by kids who can't do the job and seem to let their friends in front of people who've waited. Truly amazing how poor this business is ran and your employees running the bowling are 1/10 at best. read more

Our family had a horrible experience with Mike Buckman. He claimed to be a manager. We came in over Christman break and put down a $100 deposit for lanes for our family. Our daughters had their flight delayed due to weather conditions. We immediately called back and spoke 2 representatives from Lava Lanes. This happened within hours. Both ladies were very nice. They stated the refund would be processed on Monday when the manager was back. Two weeks later, we realized that the charge was not refunded and Mike Buckman was incredibly rude and stated he refused to give a refund. Our credit card company helped us sort through this, dispute the charge, and get our $100 back. We never bowled and were promised a refund that never happened. I would advise not giving them a deposit and definitely watch your charges with this company. This was all over $100 that was never used. Owners: I would strongly implore you to replace Mike Buckman. He has horrible people skills and was incredibly unprofessional. Very sad. read more

A week and a half ago, we attended a bowling event at Lava Lanes. We bowled in the dark "disco area" of the bowling center. It was very plush and comfortable. The common area of the bowling center was teeming with bowlers at about 7:00 p.m. Today, we bowled in the common area of the bowling center. I really like the lanes. They are well maintained and work well. We order some lava rocks (fried potato bites with jalepenos and cheese). They were so good in a guilty indulgence, bowling alley food, kind of way. I couldn't believe how huge the serving was. We brought over half of them home for a Friday midnight snack. Everyone here is friendly. The shoes are nice. The food is good. The restrooms in the bar area are well maintained. My only real complaint is the condition of the bowling balls and the lack of organization of the bowling balls. It took me forever to find a ball that worked for me. This is a fun place to visit on a rainy day off. read more

When no colored pins came up, we inquired and were told we purchased regular bowling...$55 for one game. Insane. We asked to be switched to Monte Carlo bowling and were told no. I've been here a few times over the years. We usually just hang out in the bar with friends or bowl in the 300 club lanes. The employees are always super friendly. I have noticed they are really great with kids too. The 300 club lanes are pretty cool and it's a comfortable, fun place to hang out. The bar has plenty of seating for adult get togethers. read more

Great place. Found Kevin's soulmate. Couldn't bowl because of tournament, but all bowling balls used we're suitably round and had the proper amount of holes. The lanes were oiled with sustainable baby seal oil, which I thought was a nice touch, but what do I know I was raised by Orcas....truthfully we couldn't bowl but hung out in the arcade. I ordered a pretzel and the guy behind the counter used the register then grabbed the pretzel without gloves. He then put butter on it and salt and then touched the garbage still without gloves and put the pretzel in the microwave. He grabbed a towel that was sitting on the counter and whipped his hands off. Young woman with the black hair at the front was very argumentative and rude and also aggressive. Young blonde seemed irritated but trying to help. Multiple equipment failures resulted in us leaving reluctantly. After the first lane malfunctioned multiple times we politely requested another lane as it was closing shortly, the mechanic violently verbally attacked us. After we got the second lane started it immediately started malfunctioning the same way. We noticed that other bowlers were not having the same problem and felt targeted. Everyone was very friendly- even though I switched out my shoes three times because I couldn't figure out my size. Even the people we bowled next to were friendly to us. They seemed to be going through a remodel/expansion of sorts which is exciting.
