4th of July was a bummer this year. We've been coming for 6 years to get a great view of the fireworks. For some reason this year they want to keep the spotlight parking lot lights on. After asking to turn them off like EVERY other year, the staff just ignored it. Paying $30 to sit under spot lights trying to watch fireworks is asinine. Wow we got 20 min of darkness before they turned them back on. We definitely will NOT be back next year. We'll rent a spot next door with no god damn spotlights. Screw this crew read more

Not bad as far as bowling alleys go. 25 lanes plus 8 more in a separate room for private parties. Food is basic greasy stuff with a few salad options. Plus there is a separate full bar as well. And an arcade for kids. Lotsa leagues during the week and moonlight bowling Fridays and Saturdays. FUN place!!! read more

Just had a really bad experience at Lava Lanes. Bought two games for two people and rented shoes. During the first game the lane kept jamming, pinsetter abruptly restarting or not responding- happened five times during the first game. We had to keep going to the desk to request lane service. Each time we waited while someone crawled in and tried to fix things. It happened twice more during the second game and during the 7th frame, the pinsetter dropped as my second ball rolled toward the pins. My ball banged off the pinsetter and bounced into the gutter, where it stayed; the lane went dark. At that point we decided we had had enough. I politely suggested to the woman at the counter that we felt a refund for one of our games was in order given the faulty lane and the fact that we didn't even get to finish our second game. "You've already bowled seven frames so no, no refund." I pointed to the dark lane, the pinsetter down and my ball still sitting in the gutter, and said "We are not able to even finish this game. The lane is not working. We've been up here so many times that I think a refund for one game is fair." She was not kind or apologetic but quite rude, and just repeated "you have already bowled 7 frames so no, I'm not giving you a refund." So be forewarned - you may experience terrible customer service and the frustration of repeatedly malfunctioning lanes- worst bowling experience ever. read more

I've been going here since I was a little kid and we went back here after years of being apart, and boy was I glad to be back! The sounds of pins being knocked down, the cheers of families encouraging one another, and the familiar smells of tater tots and nachos. This place makes the sun mountain fun center look like chopped liver! This is where the pros go and they even have a fun arcade where you can win prizes and more. I also saw that they added a new 300 lounge for adult groups and has a few private lanes that you can rent out! Great menu selection as far as food and drinks go too. Definitely this is the place you want to go to when you have a craving for bowling or even want to join a league! read more

So my gf and I went in to try my new bowling ball I have purchased. We went in and purchased two games/rounds of bowling and of course we needed shoes, so it was $5.50 a person and like est. $4 for shoes. So we paid $30 for two games for just the both of us, next thing we know we were told lane 12. So when we got there we noticed that from lane 1-12 was only showing up to 5 rounds/sets on the screen and lane 13-onward was showing all 10 rounds/sets on the screen. I didn't really worry about it so we both were just playing and trying to have a good time. Next thing I know after the first 5 it told us to press space to continue to next game and we were a little puzzled but continued. After 10 rounds/sets it told us our game was over. So at this moment we were confused and went to the counter and they said that was our two games?! So heading to our vehicle I looked on Sun Mountains website and they only charge $3.75 per pers on and $2.50 for shoes and called and asked them and they confirmed it and told us that 1 full game has 10 rounds/sets in them which I knew it should have been 10! So we now are going to Sun Mountain from now on forever! Lava Lanes has lost our trust and we will no longer be going. Only reason why we decided to go here was because we were just up the street but now after this, this is the last time we ever go. Also Sun Mountain has $2.50 bowling and $2.50 for shoes per person during weekday before 5pm! So if you read this review, GO TO SUN MOUNTAIN FUN CENTER! STAY AWAY FROM GETTING SCAMMED AND RIPPED OFF FOR OVER PRICES AND SCAMMING CUSTOMERS. read more

Negative stars! Went bowling with a lot of family members on a Monday night. Time they close is listed as 10 pm. One of their workers (possibly manger) was wearing a Hawaiian shirt that stood out from the rest of the employees, was very rude the entire night. When we were ready to start bowling we noticed half of our crew had been deleted form the screen ! We asked why and he said there can be a limit of 5 people on there because if not the game would extend to 2 hours! There were other people on the next lane that had 6 players ! So we knew he was lying to us! Then around round 3 the pins starting getting "stuck" in the dispenser and made team members loose points. We also had to ask him a few times to out the rails up on the kids lane. He was very upset he had to do this . Almost seem he didn't want to work there. Well that is until his buddies showed up m. He then spent his entire shift flirting and gaming with his friends while the rest of the crew worked hard ! Definitely not a team member! He also charged his friends a cheaper amount for bowling . read more

When I went to lava lanes my friend and I asked if we could have bumpers and the front desk associate very rudely said "are you nine?" And we we replied "no?" Then she said "then no bumpers for you". I have never been to a bowling alley that did not allow bumpers for all ages of people. My friends and I did not go to bowl competitively, we went to have a good time. We were very disappointed with the service that was given and the fact that we couldn't have bumpers. Will not be going back. read more

It's always a great time at Lava Lanes. They have a decent arcade area, lots of lanes (very rare to have a short wait for one to open up), and all around good atmosphere. The food is the same as any bowling alley; overpriced and thrown in the oven frozen. read more

Dirty, dirty, dirty place. The arcade is a collection of broken machines. The balls are chipped and gouged out and need to be replaced. And the food is terrible. They have THE WORST PIZZA I've ever tasted. Convicts get better in jail. The wings were dry as well. Staff seem to care very little about customers. read more

The worst bowling/arcade experience I've had this far. The bartender was nice and that's about it. We had to wait for our lane so we got a drink at the bar, we took our drinks into the bowling area and eventually into the arcade room. We were then scolded at by a worker for having adult beverages inside the game room, in which there are no signs posted stating that it was a rule. The employee said that the adult beverages could be set on the outside of the arcade against the wall. This was extremely conflicting given the fact that there was small children everywhere who could've easily picked up an unattended drink, or the possibility of someone doing something to it. You never leave a drink unattended! Anyways, we complied and set our drinks outside of the area at a table . When our lane was ready we still had our drinks and sat down in the chairs in front of our lane. A few minutes later the same employee came and told us that we weren't allowed to be drinking there either, meanwhile patrons sitting right next to us continued to drink alcohol in the same area we were told we couldn't. I don't understand why we were being targeted and singled out it just made the whole experience terrible. Also don't even try to spend money in they're "arcade room" because more than half the machines are broken and the few that do work, barely do. I will not ever spend another dime at this establishment. read more

Old and out of style. But sooo much better than sun mountain. The crowed is older and more mature. Just folks out for a beer and a bowl. This place is a joke! Was told about 10 mins for the "adult lanes" we've been here over an hour. In that hour, the "bartender" spent more time on her phone and taking smoke breaks, then realizing that my lady and I have had empty drinks sitting in front of us for about 20 mins. Came here for $2 bowling last night and had a great time! This was my second time here and I was again surprised by how clean everything was. The bar was nice, there was a good crowd, the service was fast. I will come back on a Sunday for football this season. I recommend, something for everyone. read more

Lava Lanes as a establishment is pretty awesome. The atmosphere is great and the bar is inclusive! However the manager, Tish, was absolutely atrocious. Me and my group of friends came in, and we're immediately placed on a 45 minute wait, no worries at all, we waited the time. When we returned to play, Tish looked less than happy to see us. As we paid for shoes and lanes we we're given nothing but snarky remarks from Tish the entire time we payed for our lane. We ended up having a miscommunication about games and players, and our lane was shut off. I decided to respectfully approach her about the confusion but Tish would not even give me the time of day. She was dismissive, rude, and honestly the attitude was repulsive for someone working at a family bowling alley. I understand that miscommunications happen, that was not the issue, it was simply Tish causing the less than adequate bowling experience. This is such a bummer because I really love Lava lanes as a whole, I hope there hiring team can figure out what to do with the wicked witch at the front desk:/ read more

$1 bowling on Mondays and Wednesdays lured me, some girlfriends and our preschoolers into Lava Lanes this week and everyone had a great time! Yeah, the kids' fluorescent orange bowling balls kept getting stuck halfway down the lane and we'd have to call the desk over the intercom and ask for help--like 20 times. But the employees at Lava Lane were so nice (and patient) and didn't seem to mind too terribly that we were the idiots who brought in 30 lb kids to throw around bowling balls a third of their weight. The facility was very clean, and I really liked the fact that their "game room" was pretty sparse and unimpressive. It wasn't as hard to drag my 4 yr old out of there as it is when we go to Sun Mtn. Fun Center on the north side of town. Cheap bowling and no kid meltdown when it's time to leave? Works for me! read more

I come here a few times a year. Its a great place to bowl and enjoy a little food and some brews. There is a bar inside of the building and a small kitchen in the back. During the weekdays you may find a bowling league or two going on. Those times may be a good time to avoid going of you do no like crowds. On a weekend evening you may find this place fairly crowded, particularly when they are having their "Cosmic Bowing". Overall its a pretty nice facility with decent prices. Nice clean, brightly lit alley. Great deal from 12-3pm on the weekends... $10 per lane for an hour for up to 6 bowlers. Add on about $3 for shoes and you have a fun afternoon activity. After 6pm on Sun you can bowl for a buck. Snack bar has a good variety of different food and decent prices. Game room has lots of fun games including Foosball, pool, and air hockey along with a variety of the ticket-producing games that kids love. Other deals and fun stuff include Cosmic bowling on Fri and Sat, $1 and $2 bowling on certain weekdays and from 12-5pm on Mondays kids under 14 bowl free!! read more

Overall a terrible experience. Let me break it down for you... First of all I swear that every pair of shoes I tried on (4 pair) were full of canola oil. Which is gross... Second, the bowling is clearly rigged. Last time I bowled at SMFC, I bowled a 214. A 214!! But this time at LAVA LANES I bowled an embarrassing 195. My Tinder date walked out on me. I'm sure it was because of my score. This place MUST be built on a sinkhole. THIRD, the ~ticket to prize ratio~ is comparable to the way Bush handled Hurricane Katrina. Absolutely horrific. (It might be worse, tbh). I had my date front me $62 in quarters after I promised her the medium/large stuffed anaconda. Needless to say, it didn't happen. This probably also contributed to her walking out halfway through our date. In conclusion, this place sucks and my date was a total jerk. read more

This was absolutely the worst bowling alley I've ever gone to...didn't have an available lane so they put us in the 300 club...$30.00 for my 3 1/2 year old grandson, my wife & I to bowl one game (I had already told my grandson we were going bowling so I paid)...then every single ball got stuck (so when I asked for help the girl at the counter acted like I had a screw loose)...moved us reluctantly and we made it through that...then off to the game room where 80% of the games ate our money and didn't spit out the tickets...we should have taken him to the Family Fun Center! Had a great time in the 300 Club for Friday night Karaoke. Great song selection, Boneyard RPM on tap and a lively bunch of locals.

I started going because I moved near Lava lanes and away from downtown. Now I have my own shoes and ball and am a frequent customer. Sierra and David made us feel welcome every me and my boyfriend walk through the doors! Bartenders rock and I always have good conversations with Ashley! If anyone there gives you attitude, you most likely deserve it :) because they are awesome. read more

Poor customer service. My friends and I visited Lava Lanes after hearing that bowling between 5 and 630 was 2 dollars. We were told that is true, but it is actually during league time so they are using all of the lanes. We had to bowl in the 300 club and it wasn't 2 dollars anymore. When we asked to turn the tv next to our lane to the basketball game we were told no, they were all linked (even though ours wasn't showing anything) and they told us that drinks were the first priority and not to ask anyone else to change it. Pretty odd experience with the staff, but a good time bowling. I definitely prefer the vibes in the 300 club. read more

I don't think I've seen service that has been worse. The young lady helping us at the front who was so mean to us when we were trying to bowl, like it wasn't her job to have people come up, ask to bowl, then take their money. The bartender continually acted as if people were the worst thing in the world and if more than his buddy sitting at the bar came up for a drink you got the stink eye and he made sure his friend got his drink and they had a conversation before he was close to addressing getting your drink. After one round the front desk girl moved us to the non-300 area because it would have been too much work to move the group of two people instead of our group of over 10 I guess... Then we go to pay for our round of bowling and we don't realize until later that she automatically charged us for two games of bowling without telling us that is what she was doing for each of the 10 people. We didn't want a second game, nobody asked for it and she definitely wasn't giving us our money back because we somehow made her life difficult by coming in to bowl. As if the experience of actually being there couldn't have been made worse by the staff, they added in that my friend's bowling ball got damaged in the lanes. They took down his name and number and said they'd call him back after the service department or something looked at it. They never called back and so finally three weeks later he called them. They were useless and rude even though he was nice and not asking for anything other than just trying to figure out what options there were. I can not believe how horrible we were treated and even though there are basically no other options in town, I won't be going back. read more

Sunday bowling is a family favorite and we had a great time at Lava Lanes. The "Rent a Lane" promotion gave us enough time to bowl several games while keeping up with the NFL football scores. The grill served a nice meal and the lounge provided refreshing beverages adding to our enjoyment. Dennis was working the bowling counter, and he made sure we had the correct shoes and balls, and even offered a few tips to improve our form. It was a fun way to spend a few hours of family time without spending lots of money. Lava Lanes will see us again for more Sunday bowling. read more

This review is not for the whole of the Lava lanes but only for The 300 Club Sports Bar. What on earth has happened to you within the last month? We go there often. But last night we showed up around 7pm and were completely ignored. Both bartenders saw us. Even looked at us several times. Aside from yelling for service or waving our arms, which is not our style, we did all we could to catch someone's eye for service. Is watching the TV or talking to each other more important than serving a customer? Apparently so. I would understand if they were busy. I would also understand if we were sitting in some obscure comer easily missed. But we were sitting at the table right in the middle of the bar in plain view. And there where only about 8 people in the bar, most of them already eating. After waiting for about 15 - 20 minutes we were getting hungry so we finally left and went someplace else (where we got waited on within 5 minutes and they were even busy). We will go back to Lava Lanes. But after last night I really don't think we will be eating in the bar. read more

Awesome place! We've been visiting for their Dollar Days all Summer. $1 for just about everything! Even beer! The previous poster said he couldn't get in because of Leagues... I bowl on their only summer league, which started in July. The league doesn't even take up a full house. I hate to say it without proof, but I feel there are motives working behind what he says! That being said... Lava Lanes COULD be better. The Arcade is indeed in disrepair. The owners are pretty cheap and won't shell out money for something unless absolutely necessary. (I used to work for them, don't get me started!) It is a more Adult oriented place to visit. You won't run in to all the little kiddos (Or rather, they won't run in to you) that you will at Sun Mountain. Full service bar, kitchen and lottery. I took my 9year old sister bowling the other day for her first time ever. She was very excited and super nervous because she had never gone before. I asked the lady at the front if we could have the bumpers so my sister would have an easier time and she seemed very annoyed but agreed that on my sisters turn she would put them up. When it was my sisters turn she did not put the bumpers up and when I asked the front desk why they said my sister was too old for them. My sister was super devastated she couldn't hit any pins. I will not be going here again it is not very kid friendly. If you have children I would recommend Sun Mountain Fun Center instead they are much better with kiddos!! read more

All the snack and drink machines did not take cards. ATM machine was available but this is not 1990. Our lane broke down for a brief time but also I noticed other lanes having problems, more than usual amount. We also had a bowling ball that was cracked and chipped around a finger hole actually causing cuts until we realized it and turned it in. I hope it is not slipping into disrepair. read more

We tried bowling here yesterday. 8 bowlers. Two lanes. One lane worked fine. The lane with the more experienced bowlers started messing up the scores half way through. After complaining to the staff and much delay waiting for them to call the owner, they moved those four bowlers to another lane and gave them a "free" game. (Really it was just getting to start over on the game we had already paid for and didn't complete). When that lane started getting the score wrong, we complained again. We were informed again that it was our fault! They "worked hard to maintain good equipment" and we didn't know what we were talking about. This time the owner himself came in to tell us how wrong we were. So, if you choose to bowl at Lava Lanes, please REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE WRONG AND THE STAFF AND OWNER ARE RIGHT!! IF YOU REMEMBER THAT RULE, YOU WILL GET ALONG FINE AT LAVA LANES!! I have been bowling longer than the owner has been alive. I bowled in leagues. I know what is supposed to happen with the scoring. I am still amazed at the way they treated us!! 6 totally sober bowlers (paying customers) don't know what we are talking about. My wife asked for our money back for the 4 bowlers who never completed a game. The owner refused and asked us to never come back!! If that is the way you like to be treated, try Lava Lanes. Just remember the rule: YOU ARE WRONG AND THE STAFF AND OWNER ARE RIGHT. If you remember that rule, you might get along fine at this establishment.
