I ordered 2 orders of biryani and I got this one box. I called the restaurant and they told me that they packed 2 orders together in one box what a joke . This one box of biryani is worth $28 without tax . I ll preserve this so that I can show that I had this expensive biryani . Never coming back.

Good Indian cuisine in Stockton area with economical pricing and ample parking space. Dhaba style of ambience n the surprise was the robot serving the ordered food, was a thrilling experience. This is a big place with one half of it grocery and sweets and the other half around 40-50 seating capacity restaurant. It's purely veg kitchen. We tried Chole Kulcha which was spicy and nice , panner wrap was ok , and also tried some sweets - Jalebi made in ghee was good. With robot in place yet the customer service was great at this place.

I recently visited this place, I was coming back Tahoe to home (bay area) Based on reviews I decided to go there, I ordered some veg items and tea and all food was good, but was expecting more flavours & spices. Place was quite and decent.

A one stop shop for groceries, clothing but also delicious vegetarian Indian food. We will definitely choose the buffet next time if I had more time. But ordered items off the menu. So so good. And the owners were so helpful and nice. We shall return.

Nice buffet and open seating area. Nice Indian music playing softly.

    Gluten free items?

Yes, they do. If Indian food is new to you, then yes, for sure there are many gluten free options. Though the naan bread or roti is not gluten free, the rice is still a tasty option to accompany the maim dishes.

What are some of the best vegan options here?

As general rule of thumb - anything with paneer, tikka masala, or makhani in it, is not vegan. These are typically dairy based dishes. If you are getting naan or roti, they may brush it with ghee (another dairy product). Almost all curries are… Read more

Let's just say I got introduced to a lot of amazing foods much later in life... Hummus anyone? Yeah, it was that kind of existence! Alas, I, now appreciate these more exotic and strangely wonderful foods and flavors Trader Joe's has to offer. One example would be my obsession with anything Ube lately and Joes has a nice selection of Ube flavored snacks. Also, their seasonal selections are off the hook with an honorable mention to the Fall Harvest themed items. Need some brie or aged cheddar for that charcuterie board? Done! Craving some quality chocolate ice cream? TJs rivals some of the best pure chocolate flavorin town. Produce prices are reasonable and as for the rest I haven't even scratched the surface of wine, flowers, and prepared foods.

That's one of the reasons I keep coming back. However, my most recent visit was disappointing. The cashier didn't greet me at all and made no effort to bag my items. What stood out even more was that he watched me bag everything myself without offering any assistance. It felt unwelcoming and out of line with the usual level of service I expect here. I hope this was just a one-off experience, because this location is usually much better.

But this local indy store has been around in this town for over 55 years, so it is well deserved for them to be a local fave. I only got a sandwich for the road and a bakery item, so no significant grocery shopping. I was traveling back home and didn't have a cooler so I refrained. But next time if I have a cooler, their meat counter will get exercised. Got a Salami Sandwich ($11/4*) from their deli and it was pretty solid. Every sandwich is customized, so every customer fills out a card, checks off your preferences and hand it over to a deli clerk. Nothing out of the ordinary here, just your basic sandwich stuff, but with quality and fresh ingredients. I liked everything in my sandwich, was even to put alfalfa sprouts in it, as I haven't had that option in over a decade. I wished there would have been an option to add oil n vinegar to make it more 'Italian' tasting, so I had to settle on just mayo and mustard, which is more classic American tasting to me. Still a solid sandwich that I was able to eat in 2 intervals so a decent value in my book. Coffee Crunch Cake ($7/3.5*) Very impressive tall cake with a very moist crumb. A little too industrial tasting for me but better than other grocery cakes like Safeway, which taste like plastic to me, so many additives and stabilizers. Cake part had a light chocolate taste, but maybe it was supposed to be more coffee-like? I couldn't taste any coffee except for this super hard and sweet candy on top used for garnish. Indeed that candy offered a 'crunch' element but in a very cloying and awkward way. Sure it was nice and glossy and even resembled shiny coarse stone like obsidian. But to take a bite that big of hard candy to go along a delicate cake was just too extreme for me. I think if that candy were in smaller chunks, more like a crumb texture, it would disperse more sending coffee flavor more evenly and not risk breaking a tooth on that hard sweet candy. I had higher hopes for this. Gawked at their butchers counter and it was pretty darn impressive, Pretty high quality stuff but also insanely expensive. Steaks start at $20 per pound and easily rises double to triple from there. But they got some serious cut steaks here, like 2-3 inch thick cuts and they even have a couple versions of wagyu steaks. Nothing is prewrapped, everything has to go through a clerk. Produce section just meh and regular. Well kept but Safeway may have a more extensive produce section. Dry goods definitely Whole Foods level. They seem to have a guy out front bbqing meats like sausages and tri-tip, like 7 days a week, which is impressive. I got there around 11 am and the employee was just setting up. Otherwise I may have tried something. Cool store, that if this were in my town, I'd be a reg. Since I was just a passing traveler, just call me impressed.

Coming to Podesto's Market is a treat for me. I get to indulge in treats that very from cookies to…read moreslices of cake, pies, and even hand pies, which I believe the hand pies are made in house. It has taken me some time, but I think I'm able to tell what items are made here at the store compared to items prepared elsewhere and sold here. The items that they have brought in are very good quality and taste great, I just prefer to have items that are made in-house, it satisfies my taste buds. Today I purchased "Podesto's Own" cookies. These are cookies they make in house. Today the flavours I purchased was lemon, malted white chocolate and a peppermint shortbread cookie. The price is $19.99/pound for these cookies and I bought roughly 4 to 6 of each of those flavours I mentioned, so I spent $11.51 total, but like I said, I get to indulge when I come to this store and it's no surprise to me when I get to the register. Some times I even surprise myself because I over estimate the prices which makes me happy to feel like I saved a little Today I also purchased three different kinds of cheeses that I was able to find in very small sizes. Literally, I think I paid $1.76 for the smallest one and I paid $3.12 for the bigger one. These are name brands that are expensive. (For my price range anyways) However these are cheeses that I would like to know what they taste like but I don't want to buy the full amount because what if I don't like it, they're too expensive for me to buy and then have to throw away so I'm excited to try the cheeses that I bought today. The last thing that I bought today was a green onion dip mix that I can only find at this store. I used to be able to find it at another store that is close by but for some reason, they stopped selling the green onion flavour and only sell the French onion, which I haven't even tried. I just know that the green onion is amazing and it doesn't matter what brand I try nothing compares to this one so I come to Podesto's to get this dip because thankfully they have carried it for years. It was really busy today, especially in the bakery and deli area, however, the people working today in that area were very friendly and tried to get to everyone as soon as possible. Once I got to the cashier everything went smooth. The long lines were gone and I got out of there without spending more than $40 today which is great. Oh, I forgot about something. I came across a fruit preserve that I did not think would be available at any store because I've only been able to find this online but it tastes amazing and it's low in sugar, which is what I'm always looking for as well. (Let's pretend like I didn't buy all those cookies today please...) Anyways, it's Fior di frutta, wild blueberries. I'm very excited for this. Now I know where to purchase this. I hope you have a successful shopping trip as I have today at Podesto's. There's so much to stumble upon and excite your taste buds!

I love to cook, so of course grocery shopping is fun to me. Their house generic goods usually cost a fraction of the price that competitors charge (including the other store that starts with a W!) I even found some brands and products that I can't easily find in my own area (Contra Costa County.) At checkout time, things move pretty smoothly and efficiently. My checker was friendly and super speedy. I was able to bag up my own groceries out of the way of the next shopper, which I think keeps the lines running quickly.
