This is a big place with one half of it grocery and sweets and the other half around 40-50 seating capacity restaurant. It's purely veg kitchen. We tried Chole Kulcha which was spicy and nice , panner wrap was ok , and also tried some sweets - Jalebi made in ghee was good. Accidental discovery while I was hanging around in the area on other work. It's a grocery store cum restaurant in one. What we would call a "Dhaba" style restaurant in India and they serve good Punjabi food. Tried their paneer kathi roll which was tasty and a generous portion. (Paneer and mixed vegetables stir fried into a naan like burrito). Also tried their bread pakora with stuffing inside, it was crispy and delicious. Will return to try more stuff if I am in the area again read more

I got takeout from here so I cannot speak to the restaurant itself but, the food was beautifully spiced, and you can tell that the cooks know what they're doing but, the restaurant is using low quality ingredients and that comes through in the food. If you respect yourself and your family and don't want to get yelled at by the owner of this place then definitely avoid visiting this place. I went there with my family I ordered multiple dishes with naan and they gave us burned naan and when I asked them if I can get them switched the owner who is a guy with long beard refused my request and cancelled the rest of my order because I got the naan before my sabji (curry) he said he'll not take the order because we told them the naan was completely burned. Very disappointed and rude especially coming from the owner himself. Please take my advice and don't waste your money here there's many more better Indian restaurants you can go. read more

Today I had lunch by myself at Shan-E-Punjab Indian Market and buffet. My family aren't big on Indian food but I love it. The food today was good but Way too Spicy for Me. The woman at the check out counter said that when it's colder outside they make the food spicy and hotter tasting, than when it's hotter outside they make the food milder tasting. I'll need to come back when it's 100 degrees outside for more milder tasting food. The atmosphere was pleasant. The people were all very friendly. You enter through the market and serve yourself and pay in front counter when finished. A nice attendant asked if I wanted garlic naan bread or regular. Garlic was good. She came back several times to refill my water glass and brought me a pudding desert at the end. The market was also really nice with a great selection of Indian foods and things. read more

Overpriced with kid portions. Went first time, and I was amazed by the shitty service and portions, lol. Indian restaurants charge $17 per dish so people can share but not this place. The owners son said it would feed 2 people, but it wasn't true. We paid full price for biryani but got a quarter portion of what we would typically at any other restaurant in whole stockton for that price. Same wity curry as well. When walking into the store you feel and smell the Indian culture like you're right there in Punjab. I would seem so. Lol. They are always so friendly and let me tell you, they make the best samosas. 3 stars only because the cashier at the front was friendly and nice or else I would have given an 2 star. This store sells grocery and also have a buffet/restaurant . At front sells indian desserts and samosa. The samosa is a bit pricey ( 1=1$), though good- comes with green and sweet tamarind chatney. We went straight to the buffet. Side note 8$per person and there's free WiFi on the wall with the password. Password is a bit ironic because I do not agree with it, more like an okay. Now the problem was our server, she didn't smile at all and has this strict mother attitude. I don't know it was just her attitude or what, but it off put me. Sure, she was attentive due to we were the only one at the buffet. The complimentary naan, she'd prep us was good. It wasn't burnt and has oil coated with it. An other problem was the foods. Most of the foods was way too salty and I would have enjoy all the dishes if it weren't for that. The vendakkai poriyal okra dish seems old (salty also). Only foods I liked was the aloo gajar matar potatoes, naan, chips, and spiced basmati rice palao. I will squeeze in the broccoli pakora. The good of the buffet- all you can eat and get your money worth. Exactly the opposite, the server wanted us to leave early- probably she won't have to deal with us. Buffet - Great 4 stars. To-go food: 1 star. I used to love getting food to-go with them. It was priced just right, always fresh and flavorful. Now it just tastes old and isn't spiced the same. I tried on a few different occasions and ended up throwing away all the dishes I ordered after a few bites. Store: 4.5 stars. Awesome. You can find lots of spices, snacks, teas, ice-cream, pastries etc... Please improve the quality of your to-go food. I am so sad as I used to love it! Unsure if the chefs changed or what is different but it's a very noticeable difference now and I've tried on at least 3 different occasions all spanned a few months apart. :( read more

This is not my first or last time here, I've been coming here for at least 4 years now. I love the food! I first started with sampling their to-go samosas in the heater which are $1.25 each and big. You just use their tongs and paper bags and pack them up yourself and pay. The restaurant is inside next to the store and always alone mostly, but pick up order from the kitchen are constant! I stayed to eat there today for dine in. The menus are in a pile on the counter when you enter the restaurant section to the left. Most plates are $8.99. Tons to choose from especially if you're a vegetarian. Lots of home made drinks too and soft drinks. Clean tables and restaurant. The market is over crowded with merchandise, but i don't mind. You can change the spice level on the food mild, medium, spicy, none. The front lady is always here and overworked but very nice with enough english. She answers the calls, places the orders and runs the deli. It does take a while to put in the order, but the food took less than 10 minutes after that. You pay at the end at the front cashier which is the same lady. Honor system. Whats important to note is that there were a few non ethnic people picking up food orders like myself but i mostly observed people of this ethnicity eating in and picking up so I think its safe to say the food is delicious! Tender fluffy garlic naan with not an over powering flavor. It was my first time trying aloo ghobi and it was delicious! It had tomato, onion, cilantro, and it was just Mouth watering! My friend thats pakistani had first introduced me to this place years ago with a pizza order from here that was soo good we devoured it! A lot of older gentlemen gathering to eat here as a group wearing turbans and seemed to finished all the food on their plate so thats a great sign! My friend and I love this place. We are trying to be vegetarian and this place makes it easy with lots of great options. They have wifi and dosas now! Sangeet and her husband own this store and chaat house. Sangeet is super friendly and very customer service oriented. She is one of the reasons we like to come here. We had the masala dosa. Dosas are a crepe-like dish. The masala dosa is made with spicy potatoes. Dosas are served with various chutneys and sambar. The flavor was very good and we asked for it spicy and it was. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and loved having wifi now. One of the sons is the music mixer for the restaurant and he has been playing some cool chill selections. One stop shop for all things Indian. Ever since I've been on a curcumin love fest I have been on the hunt for some powder that is the real deal. What better place then to come to an Indian super market. This is in a tacky and slightly seedy part of town near a porn shop, lots of paint stores and car dealerships. This place is listed as having vegetarian Indian chaat and cuisine so I was pretty excited to check it out. Walked in and the only people I saw were Indian so I new this place is legit. The space was like something I have never seen before. It had a little of this a little of that, most things I had no idea what they were. I tried to ask questions but I kind of gave up because they would tell me what the produce thing was in Indian but then the next question is what do you do with this? Instead of acting like a stupid white boy I made it easy on myself and told the guy working there where the dried turmeric was located. That was easy as he directed me to an isle of spices and there was like 10 different brands all coming from India. Had no idea which to choose so when I saw one said Organic one label I jumped on that one as I want my Turmeric to be pesticide free. Plus is looked the most golden orange. After I figured that out I was actually starting to get hungry and I saw they had a buffet of items in the next room. It was getting late in the day so I asked them when the buffet ends and they basically said it's over. I just checked through the items and asked which of the dishes are vegan. Turns out that they had only a handful of dishes, most of the curry dishes they use cream. The lady said that if you order off of their menu they can make many more items vegan friendly but I decided to pass. So no review of food here. There was a long line of people checking out here so I decided to roam around and see what other items they sell. This place had some crazy things for sale that I thought if I ever go to one of those pink or white elephant parties these would be perfect. They had a whole rack labeled "Religion" which pictures of a guy with a white beard meditating. They had a bunch of dangling ornamental thingies like what you wrap over your car rear view mirror. A whole rack of statues of have elephant half human sitting on a thrown. The half monkey half human warrior ornamental draping from his crotch was way too cool. But then I had to slap myself in the fact for even thinking of buying such a thing. So can you believe I managed to only walk out with my Turmeric powder for $3.99. I would have paid that much just to get entry into this fun little place to find all things Indian. read more

A small gem with deliciousness inside. Today I only got their garlic naan, but ... wow. I waited a little over 5 mins which made me comfortable with knowing that I'd be taking home in-house-made naan. I was so pleased, so garlicky, hot, and fresh. The lady at the counter was very pleasant and even made conversation with my 2 yr old. I called for takeout and asked for recommendations for two "vegan and healthy" entrees. Was suggested Aloo Gobi (cauliflower and potatoes) and Bhindi Masala (okra). Both were incredibly flavorful and very different in taste from your average Indian restaurant ... which is great because it was clear they have their own unique recipes. I spent some time wandering the aisles and shopping for spices and curries. I was offered help multiple times, which was nice because I'm clueless when it comes to Indian/Pakistani products. Disclaimer: I'm writing only about their samosas as that is the only food I've ever tried here so far. But I've dropped by for these snacks at least 5 times so I guess I'm a little addicted to them. At $.99 a pop they're fantastic! I noticed they got a little smaller over time but they're still worth it. The seasonings are just right compared to the samosas in Safeway which are quite bland to my taste. A samosa purchase also includes 2 kinds of chutney sauce, a sweet dark one (my preference) and spicier green one. Also, the garlic naan is so delicious in aroma and in flavor. Service is good. One time I found the samosa display empty but they asked me how many I wanted and cooked some just for me.
