I was fully expecting a nightmare. Moved in to a new house in August, and as it goes, one thing after another. One day, the garage door opens slightly - then recedes. I'm checking the sensors. Making sure nothing is blocking it in my crowded garage. Nada. So my girlfriend hits the button while I open it - and she comes over and looks up - the spring is broke! Preparing for the worst - I called, they quoted me less than I was expecting, and then said they'd be here _the next day!_ (No cars in the garage - this was NOT an emergency - it'd be a week with no garage door!) We had our garage door spring replaced. During the repair, the tech damaged our door by attempting to pry the door open. He told my son just prior to prying that he had to pry, but denies it all. He dented the door and tore the rubber gasket at the bottom. When we attempted to contact to try to fix the situation, they denied all responsibility. They even went so far as to call my son a liar. We sent pictures of the damaged and he blamed my son...saying he must have backed the car into it...the car was inside, damage was outside. He then tried to blame the damage on the door crashing down when the spring broke...the door was down when it broke, there was no crashing down. Excuses, no apologies, no admission of guilt. I have an airhead kid that forgot to put the car in park before getting out (how this is possible, I have no idea, but I digress!) anyway, car ran into the garage door denting the bottom 2 panels. I had a pretty weird experience when quoting a replacement garage door with Shamrock Overhead Door. I asked for quotes from several door installers in the Columbus area after asking family and friends for recommendations, in addition to researching installers on community Facebook groups. Multiple installers came out to my property and spent time learning about my project. I cannot say the same with Shamrock Overhead Door. After filling out an appointment request using their confusing online system, I didn't receive a confirmation. At my requested appointment time, the sales rep showed up over a half hour late and claimed he did not have any way to contact me, which is confusing because I submitted that information online. He talked a mile a minute in my driveway and threw a brochure at me. He said he'd follow up. A week later, he did, at which point I explained we were still researching options. A week after that, after we had decided to purchase the door from The Lockmaster, he called again. I told him we has purchased from someone else and thanked him for his time and following up. Then he immediately HUNG UP THE PHONE. Kind of rude in my opinion. I thought I was doing him a favor by not just endlessly ignoring his calls. Called this morning when the sprocket on my garage door chain broke off from being old. Scott from Shamrock called me back within 30 mins and was in my garage about 2 hours later. Problem fixed. Scott was personable, knowledgeable and prices were reasonable. My only regret is that "professionable" is not a word because Shamrock would have covered all of the "able's" one looks for in great home service. Scam, scam, scam they have numerous names Overhead doors, locksmith...European accent. Over $100.00 to reprogram and it still doesn't work! My door goes up when my neighbors does. The technician had no clue how to fix it and told me to talk to my neighbors and have them reprogram their door. Yet technician charged and reprogrammed it. Blew smoke is all. Then company representative stopped taking my phone calls. I called another service who was referred to me by door makers and he knew exactly what was happening. When my garage door opener broke, I steeled myself for the worst. 2012 was the year of everything in my 7-year-old house breaking. (insert grumbling about Dominion here) After investigating and seeing that it wasn't going to be a simple fix I could do myself, I had resigned myself to the fact that there was probably a new garage door opener in my future. I called and was able to quickly get an appointment with Shamrock. As we discussed my problem over the phone, he presented several options for new openers, then took a step back and asked why I was replacing it. When I explained what had broken, he said, "Oh, you don't need a new opener if you don't want one. We can fix that!" That honesty meant everything to me. My final bill could've been 3.5x higher if they had installed the new opener, and I would've been none the wiser. We moved into a home last summer in which the garage doors needed updated. Scott was one of the vendors we were reviewing. He came out and gave us some great options at a reasonable price. I really appreciate the fact that he listened to what we wanted. Some vendors will steer you into more expensive options that do not really affect the outcome of your goal. They just want to make more money. Scott does not operate this way. He gave us exactly what we wanted and needed. The installation went flawlessly. The installer gave us some tips on keeping the garage doors maintained. We've had them for about 8 months now. They look and work great. I called to set up an appointment this past Saturday and it was my error not Shamrock about rescheduling. I believe it was Scott I spoke with and he understood and rescheduled for this Thursday. I had an emergency meeting Thursday and called him today to see if I can either reschedule or confirm the time as the meeting was at 12:30 downtown Columbus. I just did not want to rush them on Thursday as "Scott" did confirm they will come out at 9:00AM. His first initial reaction was unprofessional and told me and I quote: "You are obviously not self employed and you should know your schedule and not to my time or other companies time" Than he disconnected. Now I understand his point of view but he is extremely unprofessional with a nasty arrogant attitude and I'm glad I did not utilize his services. About a year later, I have Garage Door Opener $350 from them.But they installed one not like manual says. Then it started to have a problem a year later. I called them and asked them to fix it. The only thing that led me to not give one star was because the person I was talking with decided not to push his "point". In short BEWARE. I'm not saying don't use them, because I never had him do the work, so I can't speak of their quality of workmanship. That being said, here's my experience while shopping around: The person I talked with (I think was Scott) gave me the impression that he was trying to pull the bait and switch on me, where he says: "Well see, depending on the kind of spring you need, it's hard to tell how much it's going to cost"...blah blah blah. When I told him that I that I was going to go with someone else (he told me I had to hurry and decide because he had other commitments that day), because they were able to ask me more questions to determine what type of spring I would need, and therefore give me a more definitive quote, Scott's response was: "How can you get more definitive than saying it won't cost any more than $XXX?". As I was beginning to politely let him know how ridiculous his response was, I think he began to realize his mistake, at which point politely ended the call. I had an overhead door spring break on a wooden garage door. In talking with Scott, he gave me a range...which the top end of his range was the cost for another company to come out today (Sunday) to fix...otherwise, the other company would charge about 16% less to come out the next day Monday. Scott's price was the same, no matter what. Of course, I opted for the lesser cost, since I could manage a day. I think Scott probably runs a decent business. Maybe because he's done it for a while, he has enough business to not remember what it took to get the business to where it is today. Unfortunately for Scott, more of us are utilizing our online resources more and more, so shopping around and getting the old school sales pitch to get in the door to do the work only to say that "your job is the higher priced spring" doesn't work anymore. read more

The most RUDE interaction I have had on the phone in years!!!! Here's my story... Friday evening the springs failed on our garage door, Shamrock's site says they are available 24/7, as does the promotional video, so a I called, and got the answering service. No problem, they provide an option to e-mail them. I checked my e-mail in the morning, and didn't see a response yet, so I called back and got the answering service again. Maybe they werent' working today. In the meantime, I called a second company who answered, and while I was on the phone making an appointment with them, Shamrock beeped in. Shamrock left a message, and so after consulting with my wife, we thought it would be courteous to call them back, and explain the situation. Plus I figured it might be good to get a ballpark quote over the phone, just to have that information. When I explained my intentions, the (Scott?) started to get rude and short with me. He blamed me for not leaving a message on the phone the previous evening and in the morning, and treated my like I was trying to swindle someone. I didn't think having a contingency plan, and a ballpark quote was shady, This is usually how business is done in my experience. I am so glad I got to see the real face of this company, before I did business with them. Please consider a different company when choosing garage door service.
