Here's to a pointless review. Shami has 49 reviews to date and running a 4.9 star rating. That means they're virtually flawless. I took my son's IWC GST in for service. It hadn't been worked on since I purchased it almost 20 years ago and it needed it. It also needed a chrono pusher replaced. Now, was the repair cheap? Nope, on the contrary, it was close to $1200 but, as Dr. Aldo Gucci said years ago, quality is remembered long after price is forgotten and their work was excellent. 6 weeks later and it was good as new. As someone who can best be described as a perfectionist and who demands the same from businesses I patronize, I'm here to tell you that they're the real deal. You can trust them with anything from a battery replacement on a Timex to a rebuild on a Patek. The absolute best. Kudos. read more

This was my first visit. Found them using Yelp. For the watch aficionado, this is a must visit. It is a beautiful store. They have many beautiful new and vintage watches on display. My project was a simple battery replacement. This very old, but sentimental , watch was damaged by a leaking battery. They assessed the watch and provided a very reasonable estimate to repair it. I don't know but I can't resist buying new watches but here is the thing, over the period, they need new batteries, and I am like, buy a new watch instead of spending $200 -of course, that's not logical. So, I had like 10-15 watches to replace the battery. Not sure why but I searched and did not find many options nearby. Seems all the stores are in NYC only. I found one in Fairfield and went there for battery replacement. At first glance- looks like a high-end store, a collection of Rolex, Breitling, and those $5000 watches. The person (I don't know if he was the owner or not), was friendly. I asked for battery replacement, it was $15 per watch. I replaced the battery in 6 watches, it was done in 15-20 minutes. In and out in 30-35 minutes. They have in-house watch specialists, truly professional folks, I asked a few questions about the tachometer and how to keep the batteries long-lasting and discussed a few topics. Found this establishment via Yelp and brought in one of my watches to be serviced. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. My watch was repaired to excellent time keeping order and thoroughly cleaned. Only issue was it wasn't ready when promised and I had to call to remind them that the due date had passed. I am a watch enthusiast. I used to send my watches out to a watchmaker in Seattle for services, but as my collection value has risen, I'm not comfortable shipping if I could avoid it. I called a local watchmaker who was working towards retirement, was extremely busy, and highly recommended Shami. I looked up reviews, and they had an excellent reputation. I drove up to their location and was impressed right away with their building. Wasn't just a storefront in a mini mall, it's a standalone building, and when you walk in, it's a beautiful interior with Watch displays for models they are selling, I had a 20 year Tag Heuer Autavia I wanted the movement serviced. The prices were reasonable, the turnaround time was quick, the watch kept incredible time when I got it back. I came back to have a Seiko that was running 20 seconds slow, they regulated it for me to within half second per day. They've done simple work due me like battery changes, bracelet sizing, regulating, refinishing, and they do the work quicker than most watchmakers. The service is great, they are very detail oriented, and I leave Shami satisfied with any work they have done for me on my collection. They always give me a travel pouch for my watches as well. It's not often that one truly finds a hidden treasure. Well folks I have in finding Shami Fine Watchmaking in Fairfield, NJ I have been an amateur watch collector for most of my adult life and never knew about Shami. I'd pass it by often and it always looked quiet and more than once I wondered about what goes on in this building. Then I did a Google search as I needed to get a new watch sized and Shami came up on Goggle. I took this sign a perfect excuse to go try them out. And boy am I glad I did. I found a family owned business who has 2 brothers and a staff who specializes in fine watches. They are a 3rd generation watch maker. Adam ( owner) explained that 90% of their business comes from outside of NJ Since they are authorized Rolex and many other fine watches repair center. I immediately had both of my Rolexes serviced (my wife and I) They came back perfect and it was worth every penny. As I got to know Adam I met his brother Taz who is a great character who has a strong passion for watches. I found out that they also have great watches for sale and can get just about anything you can dream of in a matter of a couple of days. I trust these guys and like them very much. My stainless steel wristband on my Raymond-Weil broke a link. Brought it here. Friendly, happy staff. The expert gave me three options: order a new link, order a new band, or try to remove the defective link and see if it fits. We opted for removing the link, and the band still fit, wasn't too tight. I had the battery changed in my Movado watch. Normally, places charge a pretty penny for the battery and the service, because the watch needs to be resealed and compressed with a machine. Simply the best, no other way to put it. I recently purchased a vintage Omega Speedmaster reduced, and had a service done through Shami. Full breakdown, balance wheel replaced, mainspring replaced and a couple other miscellaneous parts replaced, all with OEM Omega parts as they're an authorized service center. The owner is extremely knowledgeable, and very warm and welcoming. Many people say that the chronograph module is unserviceable on these watches due to the large number of jewels (47) and "piggyback" nature of the movement, but for the very knowledgeable staff at Shami it was as piece of cake. It's running beautifully, cleaned perfectly, and the 24 year old hesalite crystal has never looked better. They were able to regulate my Speedmaster to +1 second per day without the chrono running, and +/-0 seconds per day with the chrono running! Truly incredible for this caliber, as they typically left Omega brand new at +/- 3-6 seconds per day! I was absolutely floored that my humble cal 1143 from the 90's is keeping time well beyond superlative chronometer status. They were very communicative throughout the entire process, super patient and professional with my zillion questions, and nice as can be. Total service time took 3 weeks, and it was well worth the wait and well worth every penny. If you're looking for a watchmaker for your high end pieces, look no further. I will never, ever take my watches to anyone else. 5 stars isn't enough, I wish I could give them 10. HIGHLY recommended. read more

Overall good services but it took 6 months to service a 7750 standard movement. Communication was poor as I always had to contact them. Wish they were proactive and I'm sure they could have pushed much harder on their end. Not sure it I would use them again unfortunately. Watch turned out to be okay. Documentation as to what was done was sparse. Don't even know if they checked for water sealing. On old parts that were replaced was sent back with the watch. Oh well. read more

I went here to service my 10 year old Baume & Mercier chronograph. It had a broken pusher and also needed a good, general service. I had a bit of sticker shock at the price & time quote, but determined it was worth it if the service quality ends up to be as promised. The end result exceeded my expectations. The craftsmanship is amazing. You can't tell that the pusher ever broke off, the polish on the watch has restored it to nearly new and the movement is restored to as new. Well worth the price and time that it took to achieve the end result. They also gave me a complementary travel case, which was a really nice service touch. I was at the beach swimming when I happened to look at my wrist and realized the crown had popped open on my Rolex. At first I thought I had got lucky and no water penetrated the case. My hopes were quickly dashed when I notice condensation forming under the glass. Knowing how corrosive salt water can be I knew I had to act fast. I've had this watch for over 15 years and it has incredible sentimental value to me. Up until now I've only had this watch serviced by either Rolex or a close family friend who lives and breathes fine watches. The problem was that the Rolex official store was in the city and my trustworthy family friend was in Marblehead. Neither conducive to getting my watch the quick attention it needed to avoid further damage. I came across Shami on Google. Their operation looked legit from the website and a couple of google reviews so I decided to go into the office to see for myself. Very happy I did!!! Located in an office building next to the willowbrook mall,they were a little tricky to find. It actually reminded me a little bit of the offices of the diamond dealers in the the diamond district in the city. Let me tell you, this is a serious high end operation. Granted it's not cheap but considering a standard service at Rolex was $750 last time I checked this was competitive. They took pictures of my watch, sent me an email with everything needed and gave me the price. Repair/service took 4 weeks which is about the same as Rolex. The watch came back literally looking and running like new. So impressed. They even put it in a protective carrying case and included a polishing cloth. Shami has earned my trust. I visited Shami recently to have a minor task done with my Seiko, and also just to see what this place was all about. A dedicated watchmaking shop in northern NJ is not very common, and in the past I've gone to Manhattan for this. I met Adam, the owner, and he was very friendly and spent time with me to discuss what he was doing. As I waited I saw how friendly he and his staff are with other customers too. I like to look at vintage watches for sale often, and it is good to know this shop is here for future movement servicing in case I make a purchase. This is my second review on Shami watchmakers and they deserve all the praise. I recently brought in my wife's Patek Philippe watch. The bracket had broken with the screw still imbedded in the threads of the bracket. They took the time to drill out the screw (very difficult) and saved me a boatload of cash. As we all know, a portion of a PP bracket would have been a rediculous amount. ....again they saved me a boatload. They are truely pros. They also shined and serviced the watch. So refreshing to see a small well-run business focused on customer service and quality workmanship. If you have any watch that's worth something, this is the place to go. I would be very surprised if there was something they couldn't fix in house that's the workers all knowledgeable and on location. They're not going to stick this in a bag and ship it off someplace and then tell you they don't know how it was fixed and then pretty much charge you for doing nothing more than shipping off your watch. Finding parts for my Chronoswiss Delphis isn't easy, so I was hoping Shami would be able to source a new strap and pin buckle for it. I was shocked when they didn't just source them, they had them in stock (and for a very reasonable price). Seenh was incredibly helpful and friendly. I also spoke with Adam and told him that I was looking to learn how to swap out the strap myself. He talked me through a little crash course and offered to send a complimentary set of necessary tools along with the strap. I brought my Breitling Chronomat Evolution to Shami Fine for a full service and polishing. The watch is over 14 years old and has never been serviced. Once completed, it ran and looked as good as if I just purchased it. A good friend brought in a 30+ year-old Rolex Datejust in pretty bad condition and was returned as if it was new. Absolutely amazing! Adam and his staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional. More importantly, they're experienced and highly skilled.
