It hadn't been worked on since I purchased it almost 20 years ago and it needed it. It also needed a chrono pusher replaced. Now, was the repair cheap? Nope, on the contrary, it was close to $1200 but, as Dr. Aldo Gucci said years ago, quality is remembered long after price is forgotten and their work was excellent. 6 weeks later and it was good as new. As someone who can best be described as a perfectionist and who demands the same from businesses I patronize, I'm here to tell you that they're the real deal. You can trust them with anything from a battery replacement on a Timex to a rebuild on a Patek. The absolute best. Kudos.

I found one in Fairfield and went there for battery replacement. At first glance- looks like a high-end store, a collection of Rolex, Breitling, and those $5000 watches. The person (I don't know if he was the owner or not), was friendly. I asked for battery replacement, it was $15 per watch. I replaced the battery in 6 watches, it was done in 15-20 minutes. In and out in 30-35 minutes. They have in-house watch specialists, truly professional folks, I asked a few questions about the tachometer and how to keep the batteries long-lasting and discussed a few topics. PS: They have their own parking.

Let's cover the bases: First he's great through text and makes it very clear to send, wait, etc and confirm receipt .. even when you have tracking. Second, you already know he knows what he's doing because he's got the reviews and previous customers to prove it. His turnaround time of course varies based on the work load but in this case he resurrected a vintage 1970s Hamilton Chronograph G in record time and boxed and shipped it with tracking before I knew what was happening. Can't say enough about Mike and his craftsmanship but hey, don't cramp him, okay?!

Three weeks later, I had not heard back and called to inquire as to the estimate status. I was basically told to chill and they would get back to me when they would get back to me. Another three weeks went by and I worked up the courage to call again. At that point, he said they were too busy. As I do not live near the shop, I told them I would pick it up when i was in the area, which happened to be today. I asked the gentleman why he bothered to take it in. He did apologize but didn't really have a good answer. I probably spent about 3 hours of my time plus gas on this little adventure. I went to a few jewelers to find an engagement ring for my new fiancée before coming to Rena's Jewelry, but I was not very impressed by the service or the quality diamonds they were showing me. Upon meeting Bob and his team, I knew that it was the place. He gave me his undivided attention while there and made me feel very comfortable about my decisions. He was also upfront and honest with me about the quality diamonds and rings he was showing me, and worked hard to find something in my budget. I fell in love with a particular diamond and put in a difficult request for a ring. Bob, however, went out of his way to make sure that I was 100% satisfied with the ring, calling me as soon as he received word about certain items and the different possibilities we could work with. Turns out he ended up far surpassing my expectations! The customized ring came out perfect and I am pleased to report that my new fiancée fell in love with the ring immediately. I highly recommend coming to visit Rena's Jewelry, as they will make you feel like part of a family and put no pressure on you at all to purchase anything, which is quite the contrary from some other places I visited in the local area. Another thing that impressed me was that during one of my visits a family came in looking to fix and/or purchase jewelry. Bob instantly recognized the husband and wife as previous customers that were there 10 years ago!!! Good luck trying to find customer relations like that at Kay and Zales. I will definitely continue to come to Bob for my jewelry and would recommend Rena's Jewelry to anyone. read more

Rena is the most trustworthy and pleasant jeweler I have ever worked with. I tried many places in NY's "Diamond District" to look for my wife's engagement ring. I came away from each of these Diamond District meetings wondering if I was going to be ripped off. Every dealer promised "the best price" . After 4 such meetings I knew those promises were hallow. Per a recomendation from a friend I met Rena. Rena sat with me and showed me various diamonds and explained to me why the prices varied. This gave me a sense of understanding of the pricing for diamonds that made me comfortable enough to buy from her. The price was way better than what I got when I went back to those charlatans in the Diamond District with the same specs. I have recommended her to 3 other friends for engagement rings and my sister for other jewelry. This is the only store I will buy jewelry from. I drive across NJ to buy from her because I know I am getting what I want at a fantastic price. read more

Rena Jewlery is like a perfect diamond (hard to find, but well worth it when you do). I began shopping there when I was looking to buy an engagement ring for my then fiance (now wife). Both Rena and Bob took the necessary time to speak with me until I found the perfect ring. This was a process that took several visits, but at the end it was well worth the wait. They were kind, patient, and reassuring that I would find what I was looking for. Through the years I have continued to shop there and found that the quality of their jewlery, as well as their selection, and their prices are second to none. I have recommended several friends and family members to Rena's Jewlery and all have had very positive experiences. Bob at Rena's Jewelry made buying an engagement ring the easiest and best ring shopping experience ever. I originally picked out a ring which I thought was the one at the time but later changed my mind to find something even more special. Bob was extremely nice, patient and helpful throughout the whole process and I'm so glad he let me change my ring because my fiancé was beyond surprised when she got the ring of her dreams. The one thing I appreciate about this store is that not everything is about making money and their focus is on creating a memory. I went in to Rena's to get watch batteries and ended up purchasing a new setting for my diamond ring. First, Sam worked on my watches and was able to, clean out and get working, one of my favorite watches that other jewelers told me was broke. While I was waiting for the watches, I found a beautiful setting in the estate pieces and with the help of Bob, I was able to make a beautiful solitaire diamond into a stunning spectacular diamond at a very reasonable cost. He also dipped an older yellow gold ring in white gold and made it look like an entirely different ring. It was a quick turn around and a great first experience with Rena's. Rena was probably the best Jeweler in the business. She takes the time to educate you about what your buying and gives great recommendations. When I purchased my then fiance's engagement ring I knew absolutely nothing about Jewelry. Rena walked me thru every detail of the process and educated me about diamonds, rings etc. To this day my wife still gets complements on her wedding band and other pieces. Steep, I felt, but it would be worth it in the end. 3 weeks more, again, after not hearing from them, I called to find out it was ready for pick up. If you know Citizen watches, you know they are not the average "wind and go" watches. When I went in to retrieve it, the time was not set, the date was wrong, and more importantly the reference position of all the hands was not correct needing a lengthy and complex 11-step calibration after bringing it home. After paying $240, you'd think they would have made sure it was set to perfection.

I brought it back but the owner waived any responsibility almost right away. Wouldn't even look at the watches and asked me to leave the store after 5 minutes. (Keep in mind, I was very courteous but just didn't want to hear it.) I could understand his position. He only got a few bucks to change the batteries and now he was on the hook for hundreds of dollars. I get it. It stinks. At the same time, due to his actions, a complete innocent party (me) is out hundreds of dollars. It stinks but you need to pay for your own mistake instead of pinning it on someone else. You guys might be curious about what was the cause. I took the watch to the Cartier store. They found out that a screw was missing and water had gotten into the unit. This was disappointing as this was a gift from my dad so I had to fix it before everything rusted. It cost me several hundred dollars to fix since moisture had gotten in everywhere. I went back and tried to get the repairs reimbursed but as expected, he refused. Insists it wasn't his fault even though I showed him the Cartier receipt that clearly stated the cause of failure. It's pretty obvious he didn't tighten either watch enough. I don't want anyone else to get hurt.
