Recently I purchased an aftermarket rubber strap for one of my watches from Delugs (online watch…read moreband retailer). The strap had integrated quick connect pins, but wasnt fitting my watch lugs even though Delugs was advertising the strap was compatible with my watch. I went to the watch repair store on the second floor of Macys hoping that they could get the strap and pins inserted, but they werent able to. I did a Google search and came across the highly rated Simpson Watch Service. Reuben (Owner) was able to take the pins that came with the strap out and inserted pins that he already had in his shop. He then took the time to size the strap on my wrist and put together the butterfly deployment clasp (this particular strap was a bit complicated). I was very happy with the end result. I had been annoyed when I first bought the strap and couldn't get it on myself...I was worried I had bought something I wouldn't even be able to pair with the watch and had even contemplated sending the strap back, but Reuben got it. As Reuben was working on my watch we talked about various topics from small businesses like his surviving the Covid pandemic, to his opinion on Tudor reliability, to vintage Omegas...Very rare to find a watch maker like Reuben. Most watch "service" places exist in malls or in a jewelry store where the person there just swaps batteries or if it gets too complicated, they just ship the watch back to the manufacturer...Simpson Watch Service goes way beyond that...Thats evident when you walk in the shop and see the various clocks and watches...I am a believer in supporting small business owners, especially those with niche services like this. Nope, on the contrary, it was close to $1200 but, as Dr. Aldo Gucci said years ago, quality is remembered long after price is forgotten and their work was excellent. 6 weeks later and it was good as new. As someone who can best be described as a perfectionist and who demands the same from businesses I patronize, I'm here to tell you that they're the real deal. The person (I don't know if he was the owner or not), was friendly. I asked for battery replacement, it was $15 per watch. I replaced the battery in 6 watches, it was done in 15-20 minutes. In and out in 30-35 minutes. They have in-house watch specialists, truly professional folks, I asked a few questions about the tachometer and how to keep the batteries long-lasting and discussed a few topics. Let's cover the bases: First he's great through text and makes it very clear to send, wait, etc and confirm receipt .. even when you have tracking. Second, you already know he knows what he's doing because he's got the reviews and previous customers to prove it. His turnaround time of course varies based on the work load but in this case he resurrected a vintage 1970s Hamilton Chronograph G in record time and boxed and shipped it with tracking before I knew what was happening. Can't say enough about Mike and his craftsmanship but hey, don't cramp him, okay?!
