One of a kind. You won't find a place like this anywhere else. All kosher meals. Clean fresh elegant food. Displayed real well. Host and waitress are very friendly and respectful. Very pricey but expected for the quality of food. Generous servings. A lot of parking available and wheelchairs accessable. Interior is designed very fancy and elegant.

I arrived to meet some new friends for valentines day. The ambiance was so lovely, dim lights and the seating was very appropriate with the covid guidelines. Also this is a kosher restaurant which was super cool. We immediately were seated and asked for our drink orders. I ordered the lemon drop super delicious. Our waiter was also very patient with us because we were in such deep conversation and he allowed us to talk and was patient when we took a little longer to decide on our orders. We all ordered steaks, some came with asparagus, shallots, and mashed potatoes. A man came around and gave each of us a rose!!!! That was the sweetest gesture because we were 3 ladies out on valentines day with no male dates lol. Now to the steaks, They were BIG 10oz & very dense lol. I had mine cooked medium and it came with asparagus & shallots. We all enjoyed our meals. We got our checks and it comes in one so we just split it 3 ways to make it easier for the waiter. Overall the meal was delicious, drinks were great, and the ambiance is nice. I recommend this restaurant for a nice date night or even a business dinner.

Sorry it's been 2 years since I've updated my review, I've been here many times since as its one of my favorite places to dine. This time we were tempted by the special Channukah menu. I must say, though I'm still giving it 5 stars, in the future I'll stick with the regular menu. We started with the turkey soup which we agreed was super delicious, things from there went down hill but then, thankfully uphill. We then tried the trio of latkes: butternut squash, potato, and zucchini- meh. Then the brisket latke tacos which were quite tasty but greasy and messy and I'd rather just eat a deconstructed version of those. The sufganyot, well, what could be bad! We ate in an enclosed tent which we'd have been leary of but we were the only ones in there (went for a very early lunch). We had a heater at each side of the table and were quite comfortable. As usual, our server was very good. Please continue to supporting our kosher restaurants through these tough times and always.

Love this place. Fantastic kosher food in an elegant atmosphere. Perfect place for anything from a work lunch to your wedding reception. 10/10! :-)

The cocktails i saw being served had great presentation.

Our sever was very nice. However, the food was terrible. Our food was overcooked, dry and salty. If I didn't have a glass of water, I might have choked on the hockey puck of food they served. The place is Kosher, I get that the choices may be a tad limited if that's what you are looking for; but for the price range (appetizers averaged $20+, entrees averaged $50s++, with a burger at $25). Server was nice, but did not ask why we only took a couple of bites of our entree and did not want the rest to go, he seemed uncomfortable and didn't want to deal with it. By the way, they automatically add 20% tip. It was only two of us.. Overall, pick another place, not recommended at all for food.

Food is delicious but highway Robbery! I ordered one appetizer to go and picked up a dry chicken skewer appetizer with a few sauces on the side and paid $26. I know kosher food is expensive, but I think it's pushing it. On the plus side, they do offer kosher sushi which was delicious, but, again, prices were outrageous.

This is how my $70 meal looks like. Tell me if this is even fair. The worst place ever.

The food is tasteless. I asked for bistro burger and I got the steak ... a very tasteless dry steak. I spent $70 for this meal. Such a waste!

Shallots: quick service with a lovely ambiance. It is a bit expensive, but the food is quite good. The chicken dish I had was well cooked and nicely plated though it did not blow me away for the price.

You can grab as much sushi as you want as it passes by, but keep in mind you're charged per plate--and the cost adds up quickly if you come in really hungry. The sushi itself is okay; not bad, but not quite worth the price point in my opinion. Service was a bit lacking. You really have to be patient, particularly when it comes to checkout--it took us about 45 minutes just to close out. That definitely put a damper on the experience. Overall, it's a cool concept and worth trying once for the novelty, but for us it's more of a one-and-done spot rather than a regular go-to. One standout feature was that this was my first time dining at a restaurant with a self-driving robot that delivers specific drinks and items directly to your table. It's really cool and definitely helps Kura stand out. Because of that, you'd expect more server presence for everything else you might need--but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The layout and path of the restaurant are really well designed, and the overall ambience is great. I came with my duvet loved the atmosphere, which made the experience feel fun and memorable despite the service gaps. Overall, the technology and vibe are impressive, but the lack of consistent human support takes away from what could've been a much smoother experience.

Unfortunately by the time we decided on a restaurant & I arrived there it was already 12:50. I had a doctor appointment in Glenview @ 1:50 so we really didn't have much time. I really liked what I saw at this restaurant. What I saw was large dining space w/high ceilings w/stamped patterned copper ceilings and a very nice dining area w/a cool Asian theme w/very nice Asian wall murals & a great menu selection. I ended up ordering the black garlic ramen which had an excellent rich pork broth with soy base, grilled pork, bamboo shoots, sprouts, green onions, marinated egg, house-made black garlic oil and seaweed. The flavor of this broth was outstanding. The portion size was also generous. My sister ordered some fried oysters & tea. What I ordered I really enjoyed but I was really rushed because of my doctor appointment. HRS has an AYCE for $23.95 for sushi & ramen M-F from 11am - 3pm. The menu selection looks awesome . Plenty of seating with warm wooden furniture. Soft classical jazz music in the background. On a Saturday night, only a couple other tables were taken. We were seated immediately and provided the waters we requested. The menu is extensive but the server knew exactly when we'd finished deciding and came to take our order. The miso soup and salad arrived under 5 mins after ordering. The salad had a fresh orange dressing that provided a refreshing citrus flavor and no mayo so it felt quite light and flavorful. Once we finished the soup and salad, the sushi arrived quickly. The nigiri salmon was excellent - melt in your mouth quality. The nigiri tuna was definitely the best I've had. And I loved the maki. The negi hamachi had far larger pieces of fish than I've seen anywhere else. And the sushi rice had some sesame seeds in it, giving it a slight bit of satisfying crunch. We should have stopped there but everything was so delicious and fresh that we ordered the mango crunch maki for dessert. The mayo was fresh and ripe, offering a succulent contrast to the sweet soy drizzled on top. But it was a little too sweet for my husband. The crunch came from what we think might be puffed corn. I didn't like the crunch and felt it detracted from the mango. Others would probably love it but I'll stick with the fish! Can't wait to return!

Updating my review for Tenjin (formerly Renga-Tei Japanese)…read more Feb. 2026 While hubs and I don't venture toward the city much, when we do we always tried to make a point to eat at Renga-Tei. We know the owners retired and sold their restaurant with recipes & techniques, but hadn't been in the area to dine under the new ownership. I feel like we cheated ourselves of an excellent dining experience! Few recent reviews mentioned the rise in menu prices, but honestly every restaurant has risen in price. The high quality of freshness and the good service we received matched the pricing. Hubs & I were in the city and decided to visit Tenjin. Already knowing the standards and quality of the previous owners, we hoped our dining experience would be similar and we were NOT disappointed! I called and easily made a reservation for 6:15 for the 2 of us on a Thursday evening. I immediately got a text confirmation of my reservation. As with typical Chicago traffic our timing had to be changed and there was no issue with modifying our reservation. I received another text confirmation with the new time. Stepping into Tenjin we were quickly greeted by the sushi chefs and other staff members. There was a party of 2 ahead of us and they were quickly seated. We were checked in next with our reservation and led to a spacious table toward the back. Our server quickly took our drink order (green tea) and gave us time to look over our menu. They had a special feature of the day, but we opted for something hubs and I both enjoyed - the Bento Box! We ordered edamame and goma-ae to start. The edamame was steamed to perfection, just tender enough without being mushy. The goma-ae portion was so generous! Hubby went for a double steak dinner combo A (no chicken) and I chose the steak and teriyaki salmon dinner combo B. We also had the appetizer sashimi and chef nigiri assortment. The sashimi and nigiri assortment was so fresh and generous, each bite was truly savored. The kampachi was my favorite, buttery and tender. The chef was incredibly kind to us because our assortments really were assortments - we didn't have duplicates between the sashimi and nigiri which was greatly appreciated. The dinner combinations were just as delicious, plenty of food to satisfy any hungry appetite. Each combo came with shrimp and vegetable tempura which was delicately battered and fried. The steaks and salmon cooked perfect without being dry or chewy. It also came with miso soup and salad. This was one dinner where our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, but that didn't stop us from savoring every single bite! There was plenty to eat and we had leftovers for the next day (which was just as delicious)! I wish we didn't fill ourselves up so much because I would have loved to see what was available for dessert. I guess this means we'll have to return again :) Our server was so kind. She gave us time to look over our menu, asked if we had any questions, kept our glasses refilled and our tea warm. Every server we saw that even was upbeat and so friendly to all the tables. They all seemed to pitch in to help one another. We left with extra full bellies, smiles on our faces, and warm wishes for a good night ringing in our ears. If you have been wondering if the food is the same or if the service has changed, don't think twice and make your reservation!
