We were in Lilburn on Saturday afternoon and were so excited to check this place out. We ordered the butter chicken and chicken 65 with 2 naan breads. You not need one of those breads cause it's like a mini pizza lol. Everything was good but I didn't like the fact they charge for rice like really? It should come with an entree I feel. Shalimar is the real deal for authentic Desi food. I loved the chicken Karahi, which is a gravy chicken dish that is cooked in a pot called karahi (like wok). The Chapli kabob (beef patties) were grilled to perfection. And the naan bread was fluffy and warm. Lastly the milk tea was creamy and delicious. The seating is plenty and they have some booths and some tables. It's a sit down restaurant where you order the food at the counter but they bring the food and drinks to you ur table with good service. I decided to try this place after a competitor dropped the ball (told me my only option for lunch was this ridiculously priced ($22) small buffet. I walked out the door and drove to Shalimar. I was allowed to order from the main menu and ordered paneer tikka masala. I would have ordered some Rasam soup but it wasn't on the menu. Spice level hot, plus some butter naan. The food was great! Paneer was very fresh tasting and the gravy was spiced right. The butter naan was made with real butter (which was appreciated over nasty vegetable seed oils) and the naan was very fluffy and freshly baked. The staff also asked me how the food was and checked up on me. I can't wait to come back! read more

Came here as a recommendation from friends. This is part of a large plaza so plenty of parking spots to pick from. It's order and the front and grab a table style. There's the option of ordering at the cash register or at their electronic kiosk. I got their beef Kababs and garlic naan while my friends tried their tika masala paneer, saffron rice, and samosas. The naans were soft and chewy, perfect for dipping into the many sauces. Tika masala was a hit as always and the chicken 65 had a subtle kick to it. However, I found the beef to be incredibly dry. Shalimar is something my girlfriend described as "elevated fast-food" and I'd have to agree with her sentiment. You're greeted with patience and kindness as you enter and approach the counter while deciding what to order. There's a plethora of options to choose from ranging from your expected north Indian dishes to kabobs, etc. There's seemingly something for everyone. We each ordered the paneer tikka masala (mine was noted to be spicy) and orders of garlic and bullet naan. The food was fantastic - I think the paneer tikka at Shalimar has ascended to the number 1 spot on my list - beating out Cafe Bombay, Madras Chetinaad, and all of the other "staple" spots to go. The dish was immensely flavorful, the paneer pieces were large and legitimately perfect versus other places that skimp out on the portions and ratios. Without asking, they also provided a platter of garnishes/add-ons. This included lemons, onions, fresh jalapeno slices, red cabbage, and chutneys. The naan was fluffy and crispy in different spots and was seasoned well. We were very happy with the food. One order of naan is enough for an individual. Two is overkill. Quite literally the only cons I had were foam cups (this was odd as everything else was of restaurant quality like silverware, ceramic, etc). The other con - and this was a big one - was that the you have to pay for rice accompaniment whereas you generally get rice alongside curry orders at other restaurants. Putting the nit-picky flaws aside, we genuinely would like to make this a staple spot for us to repeatedly return to. If you're looking for a nicer ambience, go elsewhere. If you're looking for top tier food, add this spot to the top of your list. read more

This is a no frills place, however cost and taste of the meal make it a go-to now for us. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Marsala which was delicious and came out steaming hot, always a plus. The garlic nan was a great addition to our meal as we dipped it into the sauce of our chicken. Unfortunately, they didn't have lamb which is what we usually opt for but that didn't have much of an impact once we ordered our food. They have quite a few options and seem to post specials as well so that's worth checking out. When we got there the special was a curried goat. We ordered some vegetable samosas, and the taste was there but it wasn't the best we had so might try the chicken ones next time. The ambiance is ehh okay, they have cafeteria style tables/ benches and it looks like at one point it might of had a buffet (which I'm pretty sure went away during COVID times). I used to drive to Little Five Points to get good Indian food until I discovered Shalimar Kabab & Grill. I love Lamb Saag and there are not a lot of Indian restaurants that have it. This particular restaurant also sells Afghan Naan Bread, not only the typical Indian Naan bread. Before coming here I never had Afghan Naan before and now it is my favorite out of all the Naan's. Food were good and great for sharing, see pics. Several naan options and sizzling plates! Kids meal can be the broast chicken (basically fried chicken and fries). Hot teas available like chai. Teas are served with stirrers and sugar so use as you please. Once warm, the chai tea with 2 tsps of sugar will taste like hot cocoa, although our palates differ. :P I only wish they don't serve hot drinks and food-to-go in styro. Hope they start using paper cups at least for hot drinks. Good for groups and ample parking available because it's near a grocery store. This was my second trip there. First was a few years ago and I don't really remember the details. I'm so glad we went to Shalimar. Their service and atmosphere were both phenomenal. The food was exceptional except for the kabobs. We ordered nihari, daal, butter chicken, mutton karhai, seekh kabob, chapli kabob, and malai chicken. The kabob items were dry to the bone. Everything else tasted to perfection. If you could order only one item from them, make it the karhai gosht. I'm willing to bet anything that it's the best karhai you'll EVER have. Had good reviews on UberEats and decent reviews here so we gave it a try. Chicken Korma Curry with Basmati Rice: 4-5 tiny pieces of 'chicken' that were 90% bone and gristle. The curry itself was ok, but way too salty. There also wasn't very much of it. Kabab Tikka Masala w / Basmati Rice: Overcooked and dry chicken but the curry was good. Not sure what went wrong here.. We went here last week based on the good reviews we saw on Yelp.. We walked in and the place was empty, no guests other than the 2 of us.. Not thinking too much about it, we ordered food.. Since we wanted to see how it compared against another restaurant we ordered the Garlic Nan, Chicken Biriyani and Goat Karahi.. We had seen that the chicken biriyani was only 5$ compared to the others.. So we did not pay attention much attention to the price of the other dishes.. Food came.. it looked impressive.. The amount of goat karahi was huge... and we thought that was pretty nice.. I think that's where everything good about this place ended.. The Goat Karahi tasted bad.. My friend felt the that it tasted burnt.. and I felt it had an overwhelming flavor of Tamarind.. either way it was bad or old.. The chicken biriyani was not good.. Nan's were the only dish which was good.. They charged 22$ for the Goat Karahi which was double the price of the all the other places.. We expected only 11 or 12$.. We would not have minded the cost, if the dish tasted good.. We are not going to visit this place again.. Should have gone to the Mexican place next door instead.. read more
