Totally disappointing and waste of money. I was here for work and got the sirloin tip and pasta and a shale burger. $38 for the meal. When I arrived nothing showed where to pick up takeout orders. I wandered around and found the bar. Nobody inside it. a lady was outside the bar texting away on her phone. Turned out she was staff. I saw food sitting next to her and asked if it was for me. Thats when I found out she was staff. She was oblivious to anything going on around her. It appeared to be the same in the dining area too. Totally inexcusable IMO. Got the food back to my room. They were courteous to wrap the container in plastic wrap to avoid it leaking which was a welcome feature that I wish more would do. I will ask for that elsewhere now. However thats where the good stopped. The alfredo was super watery and bland. It was about as thick as milk. Thank goodness for the plastic wrap as it would have leaked everywhere. There was ZERO seasoning with the food. What sirloin tips I could find (maybe 5-8 pieces if I was lucky) was tough, overcooked and unseasoned. If it wasnt for the two breadsticks it came with i would have had to drink the sauce or pour it down the sink. It was so thin it didn't coat the pasta. The shale burger for a signature burger was a joke. The portion size was decent. However it was also bland and greasy. The peppers while grilled were screaming for seasoning. It was a mushy mess. I could hear Gordon Ramsey screaming SEASON YOUR FOOD as it needed it. I'm not sure if they are relying on the proximity to the hotel for business or what but I cant imagine they get many repeat customers with the poor quality and taste of the food. They did have menus at the front desk and in the rooms of the hotel so I'm guessing its that. I know when I return to lisbon I will be eating elsewhere. Others from my job said the same thing as they had similar dislike with other menu items. read more

Excellent service! I had a Lisbon salad which the chicken was cooked to perfection as well as the fries. Also love the salad dressing. My wife had chicken tenders and fries and she gives it two thumbs up. read more

Right beside our hotel, right off the highway, 9pm on a Friday- where else were we gonna go, BP? Luckily, things turned out to be pretty good. I would call this "bar food plus." All the usuals, plus some salads and some local faves like pierogi (the daily special,) and peppers in oil. And even ribs, but I wasn't super hungry and you're really taking your chances getting ribs at random places. Could be great, could be awful, and they're expensive, so... Sweetie got the side order of redskin potatoes, with bacon and cheese, and liked them. I got a salad (I need one sometimes.) Not a super healthy one, though: the Tavern Salad, pretty much a cross between a Cobb and a Greek one, with olives, cheese, pepperoncini, and Greek dressing. The meat and cheeses were in huge cubes, which I tried to cut up with the plasticware. They should really be cut up before they throw them on. Seriously, they were huge, and hard to eat. But, good quality. All in all slightly healthy and plenty filling. Prices are a bit high but not bad for the quantity. Service (pickup at the bar) was good. Bonus points: the place used to be called Saratoga, and the bar has pictures of the aircraft carrier all over it, which made this airplane geek/history buff happy. read more

Joined 6 other people for lunch today (Sunday) for 1 pm. I will never recommend this location. Food service took 1 hour 15 minutes with 4 of the meals from the specials menu and 2 were salads, all of which should have been quick. Fries were cold, cheese sticks were over cooked to the point there was no cheese, chicken bites were over cooked. Service was adequate and no acknowledgement that the meal to far to long to serve. read more

The location is perfect for us, but we just can't wrap ourselves around the food. We stopped yesterday and I had the buffalo chicken salad. The salad is HUGE, but unfortunately contains 95% iceberg lettuce! with a few onions, some cheese! a few French fries, and yes, maybe a few chunks of chicken. There was little to no buffalo flavoring so this was a huge disappointment. Had I read an earlier review, I would have ordered something different. My husband had the pork special. The pork was very thin and tough and served with an odd gravy. The scalloped potatoes were good, but likely leftover as they were served in a huge hunk. The kids were happy with chicken parm sandwich and a pizza burger. I want to like it here, but just can't get there. read more

Been to this restaurant several times , had no problems , the food is good , the service is good . so am giving it a 3 b/c of the that , I hate to be posting this , but it needs to be said ..the last time we were there , the music was loud , rap type music, glaring , was suprised because we've never experienced anything like this in a restaurant that we've been to and this is a nice restaurant ! was wondering if it was just the night we were there , the waitress said no , its not the night ..its what the bartender kept playing Does anyone want to hear very loud rap music while they're eating ? we don't . If you're not a local it's a bit of a drive and it's not really worth it. A bunch of people raved about this place and for us it just didn't live up to the hype. It's a huge restaurant and very cold inside despite there being a fireplace. The staff was very nice and the interior has high ceilings and nice decorating. The corn tots were deliciously cheese with a kick of spice. We ordered the shale burger, a fish dinner, wings, and ribs with chicken. The burger was large with a lot of toppings and good flavor, paired with a side of fries. The fish was very good, but if it wasn't on a hot plate it would have been cold by the time it got to the table. The ribs were tender with great flavor, the chicken was thin and dry, not great flavor. The hot garlic wings had a great spice but not much garlic. Some of the wings were cold. read more

After the restaurant we had reservations for had electrical issues we went to Shale's. Was looking forward to a nice dinner. I ended up ordering a special; chicken stir fry. The best past of the meal was the salad. The teriyaki sauce had a different taste, and the only identifiable vegetable were green beans. I was mot a fan. Fantastic local fare far beyond usual expectations. Best burgers ever. Truly quality beef, toasted bun and a variety of topping choices + fresh cut "fair fries" we highly recommend. Appetizers and bread sticks were good. Prime Rib was dry and weighed way less then the 12oz as advertised. When I told the waitress it was over cooked, she apologized and walked away. We paid for three prime rib dinners at $25 per, and no one ate half of their serving. Disappointing!! read more

If that doesn't bother you which it doesn't me - the appetizer I had of buffalo chicken dip was excellent. I really enjoy the food here, I had Blue Devil Burger the other day and I thought it was really good. My major problem with this restaurant is the service, I set at the bar to eat, ended up waiting close to 10 mins before I was asked if I wanted anything (I was the only person there, it was in the afternoon), the kitchen staff seems pretty immature and everyone seems like they rather socialize with each other, rather than try and provide quality service. I would suggest ordering your food to go, and taking it home. read more

We went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The food was good, normal pub food, but I thought it was pricey for pub food. I had the fried fish and they give a huge piece of fish and ton of fries. My wife had the crab stuffed fish and it was good. The bar area where they put us was very loud and congested. I would have preferred to be in the dining room. The menu is high end bar and grill. Lots of burgers and sandwiches but with a number of other choices. My wife and Tavern Beef with Mashed Potatoes and thought the beef had a really nice flavor. I had Haddock stuffed with crab. It was served hot and I enjoyed it although it was very slightly overcooked. Service was very good. Our server new how to be attentive but not overly so. In addition while eating a gentlemen, owner or manager?, came over and asked how our meal was and thanked us for coming - a nice touch. The building seems reasonably new and the dining area is nice but nothing special. My only complaint was that it was on the noisy side, not from the bar which is in a separate room, but just from normal conversation. We will go back. read more

Stayed at a nearby hotel and this restaurant is adjacent to the hotel and right off the highway. There is a nice outside patio where we sat for some time. The service was very fast. The servers were extremely friendly. We ordered jalapeño stuffed pretzels and a cheeseburger with fries. The portions were good for the price. The adult beverages were fairly priced. Underwhelmed! My husband & I had dinner there last night! We asked for a table by the fireplace, was told those tables were for parties of 6 or more!! Really, what party of 6 or more wants a romantic dinner by the fireplace??? We were seated at the last booth right by the kitchen entrance! Needless to say it was NOT a good seat by any means! A very young wait staff that talked loud, and banged the dishes around & kept hitting the wall behind my husbands side of the booth. It took our waitress at least 15min to get a drink order from us! We ordered an app of onion straws & peppers in oil! Both were good, except the peppers were served ice cold (sld have been room temp), & they were served with borderline stale tortilla chips! Hubby did NOT like the chips with the peppers, bread wld have been sooo much better! We both ordered the New York Strip! VERY poor cut of meat! They are supposed 2 hand cut their steaks & we were both wondering if the chef knew what he was doing! They were cooked the way we ordered, but my husbands was barely edible bcuz of all the grissle (not fat) running DIRECTLY thru his steak! He had to dispose of several bites in his napkin bcuz it was not chewable! We eat our steaks med rare but it felt like we were sawing thru a log! Not tender at all! When the manager came by 2 c how things were my hubby told him & he did offer another steak but we were DONE! The salad, apps & sides were good, service acceptable but not great! Will we go back?? Maybe, if we are down that way again, but I would NEVER order or recommend a steak there! IF we go back we will try the burgers or sandwiches! On a side note, when we came home I gave our furr baby the rest of my hubbys steak, & it was even too tough for her big teeth!! My husband and I are visiting in the area and have eaten here several times. The food is good "home cookin'" and the service is prompt and pleasant. Last night we had the "tavern beef"...like a pot roast...really tender and served au jus with smashed redskins and cooked carrots and celery. YUM! read more

Visited for an early dinner/late lunch. Sat at the bar, Brooke was the bartender/waitress. Ordered the BBQ ribs/chicken meal with fries & cole slaw. Food was fine except the ribs were tough. BBQ flavor sauce (semi-sweet) was Ok, but the rib meat needed to cook longer. I'd return for the BBQ chicken, fries & slaw for sure. Brooke was professional but she is young, lacks personality and character. Myself and other patrons (unknown to me personally) were lightly joking (Rated G) with her but she lacks maturity. Pretty face and the ability to set a plate of food in front of a customer is not a winning combo. Sorry, bottom line, the restaurant needs a more mature personality as a bartender.
