Theatre in the Heart of Orange County…read more Culturize and Familiarize yourself with the OC. The OC is the best place to live and small community based artsy venues with great talent bring entertainment to your footstep. A small forum with great talent really places every seat in the house as a good one. Chapman's Waltmar Theatre is vibrant and blossoming with talent. The theatre is a great option for localites to see shows, musicals and more. Yes, it is open to the public for shows. I have had nothing but positive experiences here. A few years back I even had the pleasure of seeing, in person, Supreme Justice Scalia. Overall, this is a great piece of Orange for locals to experience up and coming talent. It is a value and you can get to see great shows for reasonable prices. You can check their website for current shows, times, and prices. I am a fan! Waltmar Theatre, Orange..another reason the OC is the best place to liive!

This is my second time visiting the Waltmar Theater…read more I do love visiting college shows. In my own biased and ignorant world, I think college theatre offers more "art" than the professional world. Don't get me wrong - I love the big shows in the big theaters, too -- but it's like watching an indie film -- it's just very very good in a very very different way. The Chapman University Theatre Arts does not disappoint. The last show I saw was "The Taming of the Shrew". It was very well done with superb acting and we very much enjoyed the show. I also saw "Urinetown" on Thursday and I was equally, if not more, impressed. The quality of work that happens in this theater is absolutely spectacular. Every season bring something interesting and unique - and I wait in anticipation every year to see what Chapman has in store for myself and for my students. Parking under the football field is probably your best bet. A three-hour temporary parking permit is $3.00 and can be obtained from one of those parking permit machines using cash or credit card. Then, it's a quick 3-minute walk to the Waltmar theater. I strongly urge your attendance at this theater. There's some unbelievable quality-work that's going on here.

Everyone but drunks will love Circus Vargas…read more They don't serve beer, and there were NO animals, which is okay considering a) the animals usually seem depressed, beaten, or sick; and b) there was considerably less animal feces smell. Basically it was all Stupid Human Tricks. Half of it was the kind of stuff you'd see on the Venice Boardwalk, but here you didn't have to avoid eye contact or run away when the collection bucket came around. The acrobatics in the sky weren't too amazing for adults (basic stuff, especially considering what the kind of flips I myself can do in Tekken 3), but the surprise twist on the classic motorcycle ball was exciting, and the gymnastic work showed so much stamina and strength (both in solo artists and the group of pirates who became a reverse human pyramid) it made you think "Whoa, I could never do that!" and "Ouch!" The guy balancing things on his chin was pretty cool, and the most thrilling was the guy in the rotating hamster wheel thing. He ate his babies, too, which was weird. (not really) I think the most applause went to the Asian dude who looked like the guy who electrocutes Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon I. He did this crazy spinning clickety-clacky percussion thing with highspeed clacker balls, and was inches away from being a featured Americas Funniest Home Nutcracks. Thankfully there weren't a bunch of annoying clowns- just one, a silent one with a whistle, who did a few acts with audience participation. His acts were crowd-pleasing. And by crowd pleasing I mean there were no bony elephants coughing on us. By the way, Bony Elephants Coughing are playing Coachella 2017. Anyway, nothing was really lame, although the six bulging (in more ways than one) pirates made me uncomfortable because they chased one girl around making me think, "University of Virginia: the Musical". I thought the production values were pretty cool, particularly the Candyman in Glasses ringmaster who retreated to a Sheila E type percussion module, technically never leaving stage. For the price of a 3D movie, I think it's a really good value, and you don't need the glasses. A bonus was the chance to pose with a big boa snake at intermission for $10 (you buy one AND you can take your own). Or for $5 you can pose with me- basically the same thing.

Overall thought it was good for the price. My kids had a good time. I liked that there weren't any…read moreanimals at the show. I also thought all of the stuff they did was pretty impressive. We got our tickets through Groupon.

He was great at breaking down the steps for us and helping me when I struggled, which was a lot! I was reluctant to take dance lessons, but my husband really wanted to. I am so glad we did. Although we knew some basic moves, we really had to think about what we were going to do next as we were dancing. We probably could've strung a few moves together for our first dance but we wanted to look like we knew what we were doing when we were on the dance floor and not have to think about the moves while we're in the moment. Thanks goodness for Miguel, because thinking back on our routine I'm not sure how we would've been able to pull it off without his pointers. We had so much fun with our first dance, we really got to enjoy our moment on the dance floor and not worry about what moves came next or think much about the dance. Miguel was a great teacher because we got a lot of compliments about our routine. Being a certified dance instructor, Miguel really knew how to explain the steps and movement in a way that really helped us smooth out our dancing. He helped us work on our lead and follow, so that if one of us forgot a step or missed a signal we just learned to dance through the mistake so it looked like that was the way it was to be. The lessons were so much fun, and Miguel brought so much energy into the lesson that it really made me look forward to going to dance class even after a long day of work. Although we had not factored dance lessons into our wedding budget or even gave it a thought, we're glad we did it anyways because the guest reactions and the amount of fun we had through this whole experience was definitely worth it. Even though, we don't have a dance goal anymore my husband and I were considering other dance classes that Miguel may have just for fun and a way for both of us to get a little work out together.
