One of the most dismissive and unprofessional medical experiences I've ever had
I had an appointment with Dr. Riaz Shahid and the experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish.
First, communication from the office was extremely poor. I never received a confirmation call for my appointment. When I asked the receptionist about it, I was told they had called, yet I had no missed call and no voicemail. When I asked why a voicemail wasn't left, the receptionist was unable to provide an explanation. Additionally, I had personally called the office multiple times prior to my appointment and could not get anyone to answer the phone.
When I arrived for my appointment, it became clear that Dr. Shahid had not reviewed my MRI or even had it available in my chart. As a patient seeking neurological care, I expected my physician to review my diagnostic imaging beforehand. Instead, I felt like I was starting from zero.
During the appointment itself, I felt dismissed, unheard, and unsupported. Dr. Shahid did not take meaningful time to understand my symptoms or concerns. When I tried to explain what I've been experiencing, I was met with dismissiveness rather than curiosity or compassion. There was no effort to truly listen or understand what I'm going through as a patient.
What was most shocking was being told that this was a "professional office" and that I could leave if I wasn't happy. Patients seek neurological care when they are vulnerable, scared, and looking for guidance. Being spoken to in this way was deeply unprofessional and lacking in empathy.
I came to this appointment hoping to find a neurologist who would listen, review my records, and work collaboratively with me. Instead, I left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and completely unsupported.
I cannot recommend this physician or office based on my experience. read more
