There are basically two rows of food here, mostly staples, rice, teas, spices, beans, and the sauces. A very nice selection of exotic hot sauces here, Tamarind Date, Trinidad Style, Red pepper, Hot pepper, and West Indian Sauce just to name a few. The take out or in menu consisted of Jamaican Patties for 2 dollars, and Coco Bread. There is Curried Chicken, Curried Goat, Curried Ox Tail, Jerk Chicken, Curried Chicken, Beef and Goat Roti all for around 10 dollars. All prices are reasonable and there was a small line up of regulars with tons of laughing and island stories spiralling around. It was so contagious we were all laughing in the end and you really did feel like you were sitting on the beach in the Caribbean sipping on your island rum or ginger beer. The owners were so warm and friendly that they gave me a 2010 mini calendar to take home. Ahhhh so nice warming up the soul for a brief moment today.

Arriving a bit late for lunch, I asked if I could get a Chicken Curry. The pleasant lady at the till looked as if to think about it for a brief while before going "uuhmm,okay. But it will be 7 minutes." At the time I thought as if I was asking for something unusual, but this is one of the menu item, and I feel like this just might be the way of the shop The chicken, while deliciously spiced with Jamaican curry was at least half bone and cartilage. There were large masses of chicken but it was still difficult to get a mouth-full without spitting the undesirable pieces back into the styrofoam container. Is this authentic? Unfortunately, I'm too uneducated to say. The atmosphere is laid back and I was the only person without a thick Jamaican sounding accent and I very much enjoyed the food. A fun combination of tasty food and enjoyable quirk leave me excited to go back!

SCAMMED AT CHRISTMAS DO NOT ORDER THEIR PRE COOKED TURKEY…read more This was a bait-and-switch pricing situation, and the timing made it impossible to refuse. I placed an online order on December 15 for a 6 kg cooked and carved turkey for Christmas pickup on December 24 at 2:00 pm. The price at checkout was $81. On December 16, my order was confirmed and changed to a 7.705 kg turkey for $104.02. I accepted that change. That confirmed amount should have been the final price. At 9:00 a.m. on December 24 (Christmas Eve), I received an email stating the price had increased again -- this time to $146.02. I was at work until 2:00 p.m., the scheduled pickup time, and had no opportunity to cancel, dispute, or make alternative arrangements. When I arrived to pick up the turkey at 2:00 p.m., I was told I had to pay the higher amount. At that point, I had no real choice. The turkey was already prepared, it was Christmas Eve, and refusing would have meant having no turkey for Christmas. Sending a price increase email five hours before pickup, knowing customers cannot reasonably pivot on a major holiday, felt coercive and unfair. Changing the price after confirmation and notifying customers at the last possible moment is unacceptable. The confirmed price should be the price charged, not a surprise increase when customers are effectively trapped. This caused unnecessary stress and left me feeling taken advantage of.

If not here I will find more compatible prices at T&T or A-Mart. I like this store because there is a lot of choices and variety all the way from noodle to prepared for immediate cooking meat products to fresh vegetables. Sauces and condiments are one of their strong points. Store is clean and easy to navigate. Check outs are usually pretty quick. Doesn't take long to spend a few bucks here but it's all worth it.

Said food court area came in clutch for an easy, affordable dinner (pricing determined by weight) after landing at nearby Calgary International Airport. In addition to the usual produce, Asian snacks, seafood and meat sections, they uniquely have a whole aisle dedicated to Asian beauty products which I regarded with high interest. Some of the grab and go items -- namely the baos -- were a little expensive, but overall pricing was so-so. Parking lot was huge making for an easy-going shopping experience.
