Flanked by a staircase on either side, the ushers directed us up the right-hand side staircase to where we would be further directed to our seats. There was a bar both upstairs and downstairs that served Lion King themed libations, as well as kiosks to purchase official merchandise. They wave programs in your face and when you express interest you learn they're $20 (yikes!), so I opted for the $15 coffee mug instead that will last me a heck of a lot longer than a paper program. The theatre itself is gorgeous inside, with ample stadium seating so that everyone has a clear view of the stage no matter how far away. Once of the biggest and only downsides to Regent Theatre is the lack of knee/leg room in case you need to get up during the show. There is LITERALLY no room to squeeze by your neighbour - they will need to stand up to let you by which understandably gets annoying very quickly. The speakers and sound was brilliant, the orchestra brought tears to my eyes, and the actors themselves were stunning. The woman who played Rafiki had one of the most moving voices I have ever heard in my entire life - she really helped bring my most special childhood movie to life. It was a beautiful evening of unforgettable stage design, songs and visual imagery. I would definitely return to Regent Theatre to see another show if ever back in town.

A few weeks ago, I dragged my house mates out to see my mate's band, The Wolfs play before some random American DJ. It was rainy and gross out so we had to hop in a cab which sucked but it was worth it once we arrived at this little venue. The place was packed and the sound was quality! All in all great vibes other then my bar complaints, I loved this place maybe because of the FREE live music. Be sure to check out the bathroom. I'd love to know who the artist was because the graffiti is really sweet. There was also a lounge area closer to the back a bit away from the music which would be good for people who want to talk inside. Though it's right on the street there are a few chairs and tables out front for smokers but it's a bit of a squeeze since there's not much walking room in between the front door, the smoking area, and the street.

If you live in the area you have to make Sooki Lounge a regular hangout.

Many bars and restaurants stayed open late and food trucks were dotted around the city, helping revelers stay fortified throughout evening. A major tip for making the most of the evening is to stay up late or get up early. There are various hubs around the city, stretching from the Carlton Gardens, past Federation Square, and down to the NGV and Birrarung Marr. But expect large, dense crowds and long lines during prime hours before midnight. (There are 500,000 people out in the city!) By contrast, at 5am we waltzed right into the Melbourne Baths without a queue in sight. Central to White Night aesthetic are the spectacular, large scale projections on major city buildings. White Night is a memorable night out, with different experiences each year. I'll definitely be back in the crowd again next year!
