The service is efficient and friendly and the breakfast plates are to die for: what I call the Montana standard--two eggs, bacon, hash owns, toast--is excellent. But live a little and go for the loaded skillet. Wow what a dish. The potatoes, perfect, lots of meats cooked right, and then crowned by two eggs, how you like them. Plenty of coffee too: this place rules.

The people are friendly, the food is okay, nothing to set the world on fire, but it's plentiful and at a reasonable price. The best part of the experience for me is eavesdropping on the regulars who talk trash to the other regulars, flirt with the employees, and display the general camaraderie you'd expect in a small town where everyone knows everyone else. As for the food, the cheese omelette had semi-melted white and yellow american cheese artfully placed, and there was plenty more cheese on the inside. It was like a grilled cheese sandwich made with eggs instead of bread. The hashbrowns had some nice crispy pieces, but were otherwise ordinary. Little Montana has an open archway connecting to the convenience store next door -- making it handy for grabbing snacks after your meal before moving on to your next destination. It's nice place to take a break from your travels or hunting expeditions of any kind.

For that kind of customer service alone they get 5 stars. I thought I'd try something different and had the catfish. It was incredibly crunchy, nice and moist. The slaw and sauce were great! The big hit of the night was the couple that ordered a double sampler plate (pictured). I think all 15 of us ended up eating off that plate. Their brisket really is wonderful, and I make my own... Overall we had a great time and really appreciated the staff for coming in after hours to accommodate us.

However when we called the night we were getting there to see if the Steakhouse would be open in time for our arrival at 8:30 pm (not too late, right?) we were told multiple times in no uncertain terms that they stopped seating right at 8 and closed at 9. There would be no budging, even though it would have been very likely we would have been some of their only customers of the night. They wouldn't bend. In a tiny town at the end of a very desolate stretch of road in a restaurant located inside of a very fancy hotel I would have expected much better service and a later closing time. But in a tiny town? That's very typical behavior. I also would have hoped they would have been more flexible even just for that weekend because there were many people in town for a wedding. But nope. So this place was really good for the brunch I had there but service leaves something to be desired.
