I called this place Saturday after I could not find 3/4 inch gravel at Lowe's or Home Depot. Sam did a great job explaining the measuring process. He gave me a quote over the phone. About 45 minutes later the rock was being delivered to my driveway. Price was also great. read more

Vivi was so nice and helpful. Love they deliver on Saturdays. Prices reasonable too. Will order again for any bulk items.

The workers were very helpful and friendly. Great pricing, ordered 5 yards of rocks which came with free delivery when you do order that amount and they dropped off the load the next day. Would be coming back for my next landscaping project. read more

I haven't planted anything in it yet, but ordering and delivery was wonderful. Friendly helpful phone service. Price competitive. Accurate call and heads up for delivery. Delivery driver dropped the load on a dime. All I asked was don't dump the load on or drive over my neighbors flowers. He put it EXACTLY where I wanted it. I thought if he could get it close I'd be happy. I'm more than happy. read more

I have ordered compost, wood chips, shredded cedar and gravel from SGL over the past two years. The product has been quality, cost has been competitive and service has been good. First off, the gal that mans the phones is a GEM. Amazing customer service; amazingly helpful. Thank you! Got delivery call when they were on their way. Driver was very pleasant and made sure he put soil right where I wanted it. I got some 50/50 mix with extra compost added. Obviously can't comment on gardening results but very happy with the look of the product. If I had to come up with a complaint it is the choices are limited. So I hope as they grow they add other options in like maybe mushroom compost or worm castings (pretty please?) read more

Nice guy, good products. Hippie mix soil for my garden for a fraction of the cost by the bag. Highly recommend seeing Salvadore for a good experience read more

Irena is very cordial and helpful. She worked with me on 2 deliveries: 1 was for creek rock or decorative round rock. 3.5 yards - under their 5 yard delivery free deal. However; I told her that I was going to order another 6.5 yards of Decomposed Granite totaling 10 yards altogether. thus 2 free deliveries to Elk Grove. Each delivery was timely without incident. Please review final product and please use this fine company for you landscaping material needs. thanks Irena read more

SGL staff made a first great impression when I called. The lady who answered the phone was pleasant and helpful. I drove over to see their decorative rock and talking with them in person was just as pleasant and helpful as the first conversation I had over the phone. I liked their product more than the other two places I checked out. Their prices are competitive too. In the end I ordered my materials from SGL and received excellent service and a quality product for a very fair price. I highly recommend this business. read more

SGL Materials is my go to for all my outdoor projects. Their staff are very helpful and professional. They gave me many ideas and hints on how to complete my projects. I wanted to take the time to write a review as they definitely deserve it. I'm beyond happy with the level of service we received. SGL had a nice variety of rock with competitive prices. They were able to deliver the next day after ordering and communicated with us on the delivery time. Also, they made sure they picked up any loose rocks that fell on the sidewalk. We greatly appreciate SGL and will be ordering from them again. read more

Top notch services. SGL Materials has the best service & price in town. Irina wanted to make sure that I'm happy with my purchase. She recommends to come in person to see the decorative rock before I placed an order since the picture on the website might not the same. I ended up order different rock from her. She also called on the delivery date to inform me that her driver was on the way to my house. Really recommended!!! I'll call her if I need anything for my future project. read more

Stopped in for a yard of concrete, the yard has plenty of room not as crammed as other yards. The customer service was excellent and I would recommend this establishment to others. See you soon and thank you read more

In March of 2013, I have ordered 6 cubic yards of top soil 50/50 organic blend thru SGL Materials. What I really like about them is the fact they they worked until 7 pm when other places closed much earlier. Also they promised me delivery the very next day. So I was very happy with that. The reason why I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because SGL say that they will call me 1 hour before delivery (that never happened). Actually I was taking off from my home when SGL truck came and second reason I gave 4 out of 5 is because driver asked me to pay cash when in fact I payed them with credit card day before. But he called office and issue got resolved right of way. So good product and costumer service needs to get improved a bit! read more

I ordered 7 yards of Rock and it was delivered on Saturday 08/22/2015. it arrived on time and the driver was great!. I also want to say I spoke with the owner when i ordered the rock She was great very helpful. I really would recommend this place for all your Garden Materials. It's family owned and they are the best. The pricing is very fair . Quality of the product was better than i expected. read more

I am a landscape contractor & I spend about $7K - $15K a year on landscape materials. I have used several other material places here in Sacramento and SGL is by far the best! Not only are their prices competitive but their staff is willing to listen and they understand directions and are willing to go the extra mile for you. Don't even think about going to Hastie's or Cascade rock as they have no clue what service is all about it. The employees don't care about how they treat your vehicle or trailer and when there's a problem I was told no we are not responsible and was directed towards a lobby sign stating how they're not responsible before even listening to the issue. I get it a business needs to protect themselves but if you do it right from the start then you shouldn't have these types of issues. Half of the business is the product you carry but the bigger half is how you interact with your customers. SGL knows what they're doing. They do it right from the start. read more

SGL Materials offer fast service, fair prices, and excellent service. Irena, one of the owners, is so nice and informative..she is just such a pleasure to talk to. Knows her products. read more

This place is great because the owner, Paul, and his staff are friendly and accommodating. By the time I decided on what I wanted (I had been to 4 places), it was 2:00 and SGL closes at 4:00. I asked about a same day delivery expecting that it wasn't going to happen. I knew they were booked already from listening to their conversations. Instead of saying no, the cashier asked the owner. I had met Paul, the owner, on the lot earlier and we talked a bit. Without hesitation, Paul says he will deliver the rock today. And, he did. I wasn't expecting him to do it himself, but he did. It was 5:30, but I have my rock and my landscapers can continue working tomorrow.. read more

Fast and easy. Just needed a half-yard of DG and was loaded and on the way in under 5 min.

I can't say much that has already been said about how great SGL is. Instead I will tell you what great things I have been able to do at my house because SGL is open for business and going that extra mile for each and every customer so they can get their projects done. Like I said, I am a just someone doing home improvements, not a big time contractor, but every question I had, SGL had the answer, great prices and great service. I have built 3 and soon to be 4 16 foot long raised planter beds in the backyard, and the garden I planted has outproduced every gardening effort I've made in the past. I think my gardening success this summer is due in large part due to the 50/50 topsoil/organic compost blend SGL supplied. Finally, I just finished a 12x16 paver stone patio in the back yard, and it looks awesome. SGL did not supply the pavers, but they delivered 3 yards of grave and 2 yards of sand that I needed for the base. Their delivery was prompt, the driver dumped the materials exactly where I wanted them. I know I will be going back to SGL as I start to work on the front yard. read more

They when out of their way to find an alternate source for the rock we wanted. Their regular supplier said 4 weeks and they got it for us in 3 days. Delivery was great, they even dump it into 3 piles to make it a lot easier to spread. read more

Waste of time. They won't let you pull the concrete trailer except with a 3/4-ton pickup. My T&C van has the factory tow package, AWD, rated 3850 lb towing and only 5 mi over surface streets. I am a mechanical engineer and know better. They told me on the phone it would be OK if rated for the load, but the manager said "no vans" over the walkie-talkie. I hate dealing with non-degreed "professionals". read more
