A friend owned a salon near Chicago previously, so this would be my first experience with an unfamiliar wax artisan, yet having seen great reviews for Melanie, was confident. The waiting area was clean, comfortable, and inviting. Immediately greeted and quickly checked in - wonderful for a first-time guest - even more excited to find out in-state residents receive half-price their first full bikini (their term for Brazilian). Feels like Christmas, let the games begin! By 4:15, the time of my appointment, I was notified Melanie was running a couple of minutes behind - loved the prompt notification - and by 4:17 Melanie was out greeting me. We walked back to the suite, I undressed while she prepped, and it was onto the table for business. Melanie was friendly, sweet, all smiles, conversational, informational, gentle, and darn good! All the stylists are incredibly nice, talented, and up-to-date on the latest styles. They all attend hair shows and still take classes, which I LOVE! I recently got the shilac non-chip manicure done also and love it! My favorite stylist is Jen Arias. Honestly, I have been going to her for years and have trusted her with my locks under the most extreme occasions, even when I was undergoing chemotherapy. She has been there for me through thick hair and thin hair, very short hair, and very long hair. She was there for me on my sister's wedding day and my wedding day with nine bridesmaids when the salon was supposed to be closed. She's been there when I went through a divorce and needed to feel good again. She recommends the best and right products and gives me the best cuts for my hair type. After chemo, my hair grew back thick and curly thanks to Jen. Also, Jen is a miracle worker when it comes to color. She is the color queen! In my experience, my hair does not hold color well due to the medication I am on. However, Jen uses a combo of tones to give my hair this awesome, red velvet RED. There is not a day that goes by that I don't receive compliments about my gorgeous, luscious RED hair. Recently, Jen cut about 10 inches of my long thick hair off and completely changed my old look to an updated chic inverted bob that I can wear straight or luckily, curly! We also like to play with my color a bit. Yes, it is still an awesome shade of RED, but with chunky deeper red low-lights. It is GORGEOUS and SUPER CHIC! I have been getting even MORE compliments everywhere I go, and everyone wants to know who does my hair. I have had to write the salon, their phone number and Jen's name down on the back of my business card for people I don't even know! Jen is kind, beautiful, talented, and takes her career seriously. She helps give me confidence, by making me look good and feel good about myself. I will always trust Jen with my self-esteem and my hair. :)

Much like your favorite restaraunt that takes reservations, you may have to wait until an available seat or an available therapist. The other day we were able to accomodate 5 individual walk-ins. But it is hit or miss, unfortunately. Having said that, I am surprised you found our front staff unfriendly. Here at Shorewood, we hand picked our sales associates and any unfriendly behavior is not tolerated. Finally, please make sure it was the Shorewood location you visited as the phone number listed under my clinic name is the number to a different location and as I mentioned, we do not have a sign that says "walk ins welcome." For Mother's Day, my daughter treated both my sister and me to massages at the Shorewood location, and we absolutely loved it. A short time later, my husband surprised both me and my friend, who was visiting from Arizona, with massages there as well. We were so impressed that I signed up for a membership for myself and even purchased one for my friend in Arizona. Unfortunately, everything after that has been a disaster. For Father's Day, my sister purchased a gift card for my husband. Despite making four phone calls, she eventually learned that the gift card was never delivered because the staff had misspelled his email address. Frustrating, but we moved on. Today was the final straw. I logged into my account to schedule a massage only to find I wasn't listed as a member. When I called, I was initially told I didn't have a membership. After searching further, the employee discovered that my membership had somehow been created under my husband's email address and phone number instead of mine. As I calmly expressed my frustration over the repeated mistakes, the employee hung up on me. When I called back, I was repeatedly sent to voicemail. Eventually, the same employee answered and told me she was the only one there. I explained that I simply wanted to cancel my membership because of how I was being treated. Instead of helping me, she told me she'd "put me on the waiting list." Waiting list for what? I was trying to cancel. When I asked for her name, she told me it was "Anana." I explained that because of the way she treated me, they had lost a customer. She laughed at me... and then hung up on me a second time. Everyone makes mistakes. Accounts get entered incorrectly. Emails get misspelled. I can overlook those things. What I cannot overlook is being hung up on twice, laughed at, and treated with complete disrespect as a paying member. It's unfortunate because the massage therapists were wonderful, and my initial experiences were excellent. Sadly, one employee's behavior completely overshadowed all of that. I will be canceling my membership and taking my business elsewhere.

On the day of my appointment my son's schedule opened up. I called on a chance they could move his appointment and we lucked out. That usually never works in our favor. When we arrived the receptionist was professional and pleasant. Dr Troiani saw both of us. Again, I was pleasantly surprised at the experience. Dr Troiani explained everything thoroughly and even was able to complete my son's treatment that day very effectively and efficiently. We really appreciate the entire team!

The most alarming thing that I saw, however, was hearing the medical assistant Lisa S making fun of a large scar that I have from a very bad childhood accident that I almost didn't survive. I find it interesting that someone who chose to work in dermatology would be so offended by a simple scar. When I opened my exam room door I had a perfect view of the nurse station. Not only could I hear her making incredibly rude jokes, but she was actually pulling up my patient photos strictly to show other employees and ask them to join in on the jokes. This is a severe violation of hippa. And as someone who values their privacy, I will not be returning here ever again.
