On the morning of June 8th, I bought 8 cakes, 6 loaves of bread and 12 small egg tarts at this store. I kept them in the fridge after getting home. At 6:00 am on June 9th, I took them out to eat and found this situation. After communicating with the merchant, she said I could only go to the store to solve the problem on June 9th or June 10th. Since I have no time from Monday to Friday, I can only go on Saturday or Sunday. I told the merchant that I could take a photo first to prevent fraud and then go to the store on Saturday. However, she refused and hung up the phone in a very bad attitude. Please be cautious when purchasing food at this store and make your own judgment!

Definitely don't go here . The lady was up selling like crazy. She convinced my mom to buy this item and you can clearly see it has mold. The place is pretty dark inside. Everything was so pricey. Make the trip to Chinatown or Kam Man with more foot traffic.

Seyu Mack Tenn is a Chinese Bakery located on Billings Road in Quincy. It's not a big store but they have a variety of baked goods all over and some in the display case. There are also a few dim sum items behind the counter inside an insulated hot box. The location of this bakery is in a more quiet part of the intersection. And street parking was easy when I went there on a weekend morning. Mini Egg Tarts- These were about two-bite size ones and they are the way to go! I got the box of 12 to split with a gf and it was fantastic! Not sure if they were a better deal or not but it was convenient to just get them in a box. They were sweet, eggy and the crust was flakey. And I placed what I had left of my portion in the fridge and it was still good the next day! Hot Dog Buns- Fluffy bun with a hot dog in it. Classic Chinese bun I used to get at every spot that sold it and this tasted like my childhood! Overall Service: Joyful staff but can and I can see people being turned off because they seem a little pushy when they are trying to show options. A lot of what they show was not be visible or on a menu somewhere. They are just trying to make a sale, very sweet auntie!

Heavenly Egg tarts

Egg tarts are still amazing. The custard is super yummy. The crust could be a bit more flaky and crispy but no complaints there. Still a delicious egg tart.

Chocolate cake

They sold me old cake twice. The cake is hard as a brick. And the women up front tried to upsell me so much. I gave them a second chance with the first cake being bad and old and they did it again. Would not recommend. They have no respect for their customers. I can't eat this, hard and looks like it's gone bad. Literally just tossing it away

Mold after 1 day

The lady (I believe is the owner) at the cash register like "forcing" customers buying some overdue stuff, make sure don't take the bakery she want you to buy!! This time, as soon as we walked in, she started selling us two boxes of the egg tart, she said they were fresh out of the oven (which was not true, my husband ate one in the car and it was cold). Then, she wanna us to buy the honey ginger cake, we didn't get to look at this cake, she grabbed two put in the bag. My husband and I are easy people, she said it was good so we didn't tell her to take it out. Later on, We were looking for sponge cake, then she said the "almond cake" is better, good thing we didn't listen to her this time, otherwise we may have another mold bakery to throw away! We bought the bakery on Friday night, and right now is Sunday morning, there was black mold growing everywhere on the honey ginger cake she "forced" us to buy. So be careful if you go there! Don't get anything she tell you to buy!

I want to like this new Chinese bakery; I really do. I wouldn't mind having an alternative to Crown Royal. However, this place is just lacking way too much in terms of quality and quantity. Plus, the name (I know how it's derived from) is totally lame. It sounds like some fobby import/export company. Where to start...well, the egg tarts were sub-par. The crust was scant and had no flavor to it. Those characteristics, along with a tasteless filling, makes this a pastry to avoid. The coconut tart had poor texture and a lack of coconut flavor. The wives' pastry was thin, small, and also tasteless. The breads are, to continue the theme, devoid of any flavor. I didn't like the coconut bun, as it lacked much filling inside. I tried a variety of other breads and they all have the same problem. Everything in general here lacked flavor. it was like just eating into blocks of nothing. The prices don't exactly attract either, as some items are higher than Crown Royal. The only reason why this gets two stars? I think Crown Royal got a bit of a wake-up call and cleaned up on customer service. The Mandarin-speaking lady there is actually kinda nice now. Anything to make her less than an ogre deserves some merit.

Horrible photo but this is the almond sponge cake, he said it tasted like a fresh mix of flour and egg

***PSA to new customers: pay attention and watch your transactions completed and make sure you're only paying for what you want and not what the owner wants you to buy*** We came across this place because we came for a dessert and see what they had. The lady was very friendly and nice and was a true hustler! I don't blame her for being a small business. She offered us to buy things we didn't want and we kindly said no thank you; we gave her what we wanted to buy (pork boa) and asked for a slice of the Almond sponge cake. She kept asking us if that was it even when we were still browsing so I guess she was probably closing soon but I was distracted by looking at what she had in the dessert case and not fully 100% paying attention to her or what she's doing behind the counter. She was very persistent on selling these boxed egg tarts dessert that was "freshly" made just then but we still kept kindly saying no thank you. Anyway, the prices and names of the food/desserts were in her language and not English, so we didn't know how much what was. Money was definitely not an issue but I heard her say "$12.50" and I was thinking that pork boa (4 pieces and the sponge cake) was expensive but we didn't mind spending more when it comes to food we like to eat or food in general. We finished our transaction with her, we took the sponge cake and was reaching for the boa rolls and she said she'll put it in a bag, we said it's ok we don't need one but she insisted so then she walked around the counter and handed us the bag. We left the store and I asked my boyfriend if I can take a photo of his sponge cake so I can post on Yelp (lol), we paused and I saw the egg tarts in the bag and I said, did we pay for these or did she give them to us? He's like no I didn't pay for these so we decided to walk back and ask her. She said we paid for them. I kindly corrected her and said "No, we gave you just the pork boa and a slice of the almond sponge cake for our purchase, we didn't hand you the box or asked for it" and she had the audacity to say that we already walked out with it so she can't take it back. Anyhow, after a few minutes of back and forth she refunded us because she was in the wrong to sneak in a purchase even when we said no thank you. She refunded us the $7.00 but lightly threw the cash at the front of the counter. We still thanked her. I gave this place 3 stars because she came to her senses of refunding back a purchase she snuck in our transaction (no wonder she wanted to give us a bag), and because she was very nice (other than that incident). She hustles real hard but don't swindle customers especially when they were polite and nice from the get-go. Services: 2/5 Food: 3/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Price: 3/5

Sponge Cake, Hot Dog Bun, Pineapple Bun, Yuk Sung Bun, Dai Bao (big bun)

This was one of the only bakeries in the area with the most variety of Chinese pastries I've seen. I usually get the standard things that you definitely can't go wrong with, the hot dog buns, sponge cake, pineapple buns, dai bao, yuk sung bao, egg tarts and got beef cheurng fun once. What I've listed are good, tastes like they should. Each item is around the standard $1-2 per pastry. The egg tart is a bit light, not much eggy-ness and is sweeter. It's interesting, not bad, but I'd prefer the eggy Chinatown ones. The beef cheurng fun was not the most amazing thing, but it is what it is, still is a cheurng fun. I want to say the beef was ground beef? Fell apart. All right, so about the lady at the counter haha most people who wrote reviews seemed intimidated by her, but if you speak the language well enough, shes not that hard to deal with. Bring your parents/aunts/uncles to help you if you need!!! From what I see, yes she is pushy but she's trying to sell literally everything, she's doing her job :) but if you just tell her "no its okay" or "no, I don't need it" she's really okay with not selling you that item. Chances are maybe 30 seconds later, she'll try to sell you another item. Any ambiguity, she'll probably take as a chance you might take it, so you have been warned. Give her one or maybe a few firm "no"s if you don't want what she's selling. She's just really friendly and wants to sell all the pastries haha There are times when I go in late and what I want is sold out, the lady always references to the fact that all her bags, even the little ones that hold the individual baos have the phone number and you can call her to reserve!

I happen to pass by Pastry Land and it caught my eye. Pastry? That sounded good. And a quick…read moreglance at Yelp yielded a 4.5 star rating. Coming in, I first could see the individually portioned rectangles of cakes and viennoiseries. No prices. That's actually a pet peeve of mine, as I dislike needing to take up the attention of a employee just to ask what the price is of something, in case another customer is behind me. Next, to the left, I spied their various baklava type sweets. But we are trying to eat fewer sweets, so initially I thought this might just be a reconnaissance visit. Further along yielded some savories. I pointed at and asked for one apiece of their chicken phyllo triangle (chicken briwat - shredded spiced chicken with sweet onion), the spinach flatbread (spinach herb cheese), and semolina pancake (Golden Pancake). These were pretty good. And service was nice. The sweets I picked up on another visit were poofy, but the filling ratio a bit off. Averaging out to maybe 3.5 in my book?

One would think a 1,000+ reviews in I'd gain some level of confidence! Yet, there are still reviews where I feel I am just winging it. Of course, I try to give my thoughts and opinions as best I can, still, I feel as though I were approaching 30 and can't believe I am technically an adult. This is the case with Pastry Land. I've been in here probably half a dozen times, and only now have I decided to put words on paper by wasting your time with irrelevant metaphors. ONWARDS! Pastry Land has great European style cakes and pastries. Their selection is wide and varied, and the quality is terrific! Everything I've had is distinct, scrumptious, and not over-sweet. Okay, great, so why four stars? Well, with the exception of a pistachio baklava square that knocked my socks off, I didn't find their goods were above and beyond sufficient as to drag me back with the same magnetism as Tatté or Flour (for e.g. - I know these are in different categories). They meet expectations, which is a solid four in my book. For some final notes: I feel that the value is fair in light of the quality. Also, the location itself is spacious, very clean, and the staff are friendly.

What we ordered: -Rainbow cake: 4/5, this one was very interesting and we really enjoyed it. It had a fruit essence to it (versus vanilla cake dyed rainbow colors) paired with a very sweet frosting. -Nutella cake: 4/5, cake was soft and fluffy with great Nutella whipped frosting and thick Nutella between the layers. -NY cheesecake: 0/5, it tasted kind of spoiled? -Chocolate ganache cake: 3/5, it was very underwhelming, the crunchy pearls in it gave it a weird texture when you bit those with the soft cake. Overall, the experience was fast to the point that I didnt even finish paying before my coffee was served. Food delicious. Vibes are good.
