I took a very expensive dress there to be hemmed and to have a button replaced. I went to pick it up on the day it was supposed to be ready and they couldn't find it. They found it a few days later and I went to pick it up, hours before my event, to find they completed the hem, but not the button. Their answer? just sew it down and not worry about the button! I took three items here and was told they would be done in a week. I showed up an hour before they closed on the day my cloths were supposed to be ready and was told that my alterations weren't finished. When I told them I needed one of the items the following day, they said I could pick them up at 11. When I returned to pick them up, they were handed to me in a wrinkled heap. To clarify, I brought them in unwrinkled and on hangers which were not returned to me. I actually had to take one of the dresses to the dry cleaners after picking it up because it was so wrinkled. On the other dress, they didn't even bother to cut off the extra thread so there were strings hanging everywhere. I am giving this two stars only because they did complete the alterations but their service and presentation is extremely sloppy. read more

Beyond Horrible....I was very happy to find a new place that did alteration with my event coming soon i needed my dress hemmed and taken in an inch. The date for pick up was the 26, so when i went to pick up my gown they could not find it anywhere...i had to describe it to them several time b/c they have NO organization...dresses and uniforms everywhere with no order of ticket numbers or by names...just wherever they place your dress was their type of organization...so i was told to call back later that it must be at the dry cleans which was not part of the order....i called again that night...which an hour after the call they finally found my dress...not even started on...so they said it would be ready the next afternoon...i told them no rush..i want it done right...so a week later i went to pick up...there was a line of very angry people...Alterations not done when promised...jackets that were given to wrong people...and then mine...you would think that a seasoned tailor would know when taking in an inch that you take half from each side to make it symmetrical.... one inch was taken from the right side and not even done right...they didnt even take the old stitching out they just cut the fabric and re-stitched over....so i have loose thread everywhere....my husband also had his alterations done horrible and they are still not done when he was promised his alterations would be done by October 29 and its Nov.5...again they only took in from one side and not both.....when we went again today to check up on the alterations there were even more upset people....a dress that need straps shortened...lol..they didnt even cut the fabric...they just folded the strap over a few time and sewed it...another guy had a new jacket that had buttons and medals put on and they didnt even punch holes for the buttons to go.... unfortunately for them their event was tonight so they had to go with "damaged" gowns and uniforms...we dont need ours till the 10th ...so fingers crossed it will finally be done right...I will never recommend anyone to go to Sewing Box...the worst unprofessional job ever....and the prices are high...to take an inch in on my dress was $22 and my neighbor had her dress hemmed shorter at the bottom $55...so i say stay as far away as possible to Sewing Box..... read more

Horrible! I placed an order for 2 sets of dog tags (6 total). I payed in advance and picked them up a day after they said they would be ready. Only 2 dog tags were completed and the lady behind the counter couldnt tell me if the additional 4 were lost in the store somewhere or if they were never even printed to begin with. I was told I would receive a phone call as soon as they figured it out. I took the 2 that were done, as my husband who is deployed in Afghanistan needed them! I never received a phone call from the shop. I called and left messages and never got a call back. I went back to the store a week later and the owner still had no answers for me other than they were busy due to the Marine Corps Ball. She said I should not have expected a call back and should have come to the shop to check on my order due to them being busy altering dresses! I asked for a full refund, ( my bill was $38 and some change ) The owner only refunded me $22. Never will I step foot in that place again! Complete incompetence! read more

I should have known when I came in. I had read mixed reviews on various websites and the lady definitely didn't jump to help me. I had four items embroidered. I pre-paid and also paid an extra $20 to rush the items and was told that they would be ready the following Tuesday at 6 p.m. I called to check on the status on Tuesday. Three telephone numbers were found on the internet. I left messages on two different machines. The other number listed on the internet didn't work. I never received a call back. I came by on Wednesday at 1 p.m. and they had not even finished the sewing - they said that some of the tags came in late. Again - the lady definitely did not seem concerned that she had a customer. She was helping someone else and told me that they would be right with me. I told her that I had called and left a message checking on the status of my embroidering and she said that their phone was on the fritz. Then she proceeded to tell me that someone would be right with me but that they were on the PHONE right now! ?? I came back again at 5 p.m. While I was checking the items - I noticed that they had not sewed one of the name tags on. The lady said that she would sew it on at that time. Then she told me that they actually didn't charge me for that one and that she was going to add the $6 on at that time. At which time I told her that they also didn't have the clothes ready at the time that they told me they would. She decided at that time that she wouldn't charge me for that one name tag to be sewed on. You can see where the corners were folded in. The sewing is messy. I WILL NOT be back and I will definitely tell people to avoid going there. I should have heeded the warning signs as well as the previous bad review. read more
