DISABLED / MOBILITY ISSUE TRAVELERS BEWARE!…read more This hotel does not care about you! I am on a 100 day tour around Alaska and Canada and have travelled through the south eastern islands / marine highway and Haines Junction / Tok by this point with no issue. 5 nights booking. Stated in booking I had mobility issues. Did not check until I arrived then they downgraded me to a room on the second floor via elevator. Would they come get me in an emergency? Would not have chosen this hotel if I couldn't get the advertised room. The given room only had a single handrail in the bathroom a distance from the toilet or sink. The shower was not step-free but mostly step-free. There was no rubber mat. The breakfast was very difficult to use with a walker and there was no assistance. On 3 occasions non disabled guests parked or blocked the disabled spots, raised with front desk, did nothing. On two of those occasions the lots were also full and I had to walk with my walker a significant distance in the rain. They had company vehicles blocking spots preventing me entering and others leaving and when asked if they could move temporarily I was told no. On third occurrence of disabled use/blocking informed them if I see it again I will be contacting police. Supervisor told me he was unaware of these issues which means they must have never raised or discussed them among themselves. He got sarcastic with me and told me I should call the police right now. I said it's your hotel I'm doing you a courtesy by telling you and not calling the police but I will the next time I see it. I left the hotel at this point as I simply don't know if I can park there or trust they would rescue me. DO NOT STAY HERE Attached are some photos showing these issues

Location was nice because it's a block from the waterfront and park. Host was extremely helpful with the code issue and resolved the problem promptly. We vacationed in Alaska from Minnesota. We ended up staying at lodges instead, where for the same or similar prices we stayed in luxury. Walked into Sea Treasures and was so thrilled with how charming, clean and welcoming the Inn was. Parking in the alley for the the rooms isn't quite big enough if you're in a bigger SUV or truck. I loved reading through the extremely guidebook in laminated pages. A lot of the maps and articles were from the late 90s which was entertaining and cute.

Several recommended Alaska Saltwater Lodge for its small boat tours. So I called to book. They don't always answer their phones so you have to leave a message or call back. I found the best time to call was after 5pm Alaska time. You meet the tour in front of a bakery across from the visitor center. There's a $10 all day parking lot there. Met the deckhand Joe who was really nice with a great sense of humor. Walked the 11 of us out to the boat where we met the captain Lindsey. A little safety instructions and off we went. Right in the harbor were a couple of bald eagles. Father out Lindsey spotted some humpback whales bubble feeding. It was a pod of about 20. We got up close - probably about 25 yards and what an amazing experience. Also saw seals, otters, puffins, sea lions and of course the glacier. The day was beautiful, mostly sunny, but what made the experience was Joe and Lindsey. We're out there 9 hours so had a chance to chat with both of them about living in Alaska, how she liked captaining the boat, etc. Really made the experience much more personal. When we got off we all agreed it was more like a day of boating with friends instead of a tour. Can't recommend Saltwater Lodge tours highly enough for their small group sizes, personalized service and great crew.

What a great little town & superb hosts! James & Kathleen made me feel right at home in their cozy, quiet, & comfortable B&B. The bed was comfy, the room was just the right size, & the curtains cancelled most of the constant sunlight shining in Alaska during the time of year in which I visited (this is very important, trust me). I found the prices to be very reasonable for the quality of my quarters, as well as my proximity to eateries & the dock. It was a quick walk from my B&B to the dock in order to meet up with everyone taking the Full-Day, Small-Group Whale-Watching, Wildlife, & Glacier Tour (the same people who have the Dairy Hill Lodging also head this tour). Once aboard, the cloud cover parted & we immediately starting seeing bald eagles & otters. We eventually also saw seals, two types of puffins, sea lions, & a large variety of beautiful birds. The calving glaciers sounded like thunder (you realize how small you are when they're close). Humpbacks & Orcas breached & played close to our boat several times, which was breathtaking. I was giddy when we discovered that two Dall's porpoises decided to have a little fun with us & glided alongside our boat, jumping & having a ball. It truly was an all-day adventure full of memorable moments & well worth the money/time. I cannot recommend the tour highly enough & thoroughly loved their Dairy Hill Lodging accommodations. I really hope I can return to Seward, & if I do, these guys will definitely be a part of my itinerary!

It's near several restaurants and shops, including the coffee shop downstairs, and the waterfront. Since it isn't located in the part of Seward that is crowded by the cruise ship folks, street parking is free unlike elsewhere. Our suite, Wilderness Room #3, was spacious and clean with lots of natural light and the historical details and decor were charming. After spending our days out hiking, we really appreciated the comfortable king bed and cozy bedding. The kitchen came in handy a few times for making meals to take with us on outings and I imagine this would be helpful for families, too. Oh, and the Sea Bean coffee was a great touch! If I could make one small suggestion for the room, I would have liked a curtain on the bathroom window for added privacy. I'd happily stay here again if I returned to the Kenai Peninsula. I think it's a good value for the accommodations.

She has 2 facilities: The main house (the A-Framed one) and the "cottages" across the street. My niece and I stayed in the main while my sister and her hubby stayed in one of the cottages. The cottages boast a full kitchen, with fridge, stove, sinks, microwave and even a stacked washer & dryer. Also being separate from the main house, if you're having a long stay, this would be ideal as you won't disturb anyone with comings & goings. There appeared to be 3 of these cottages. In the main, there are 5 bedrooms, ALL with private bathrooms! :) Soo makes a terrific breakfast that's included... forget those scrawny little donuts or cold cereals you'll see at a hotel. She made us scrambled eggs, sausage, muffins, home-made blueberry compote and fresh squeezed orange juice! I'm tellin' ya... it's a great way to start the day! She also knows the local area & can tell you about discounts and things to see. When we arrived, she showed us the code to get in, the etiquette (removing shoes- great cleanliness idea in Alaska), and showed us around her beautiful home. Soo also used to live in Anchorage, where my sister still lives and I used to, and owned a sewing shop. When we arrived, and my sister made the connection, and I off-handed asked if she could re-attach the handles on my favorite tote. I didn't really expect a yes...but she said YES! The next morning at breakfast, there was my repaired tote on the chair in the dining room. She refused any compensation, but I will be forever grateful. Soo is kind, gracious and staying at her home is FABULOUS!
