They served lunch which was burrito (choice of either southwestern chicken or vegetarian) and a few hours later a warm chocolate chip cookie. The staff also went around to show some animal collection, helped us locate the animals that were being pointed out by the captain, took our photos, answered questions, ensured our safety and even fished a chunk of ice near the glacier and let people touch and have photos with it. We saw many animals including whales, orcas, sea otters, sea lions, different birds including puffins, bald eagles, etc. We went close to glaciers. The captain was very knowledgeable. The 6-hour cruise was memorable! For the most part the waters were calm; there were certain areas that were rough. Even then, we were told that the water was calmest when we visited on that day in June. For some who have have motion sickness, bringing a medication can be helpful (though I think they also sell some on board) though we did not need any. Layering is still the key with an outer shell that is waterproof in case it rains. Though not necessary really, binoculars can enhance the experience. Would definitely recommend!

We were entertained with several animals: Seas Otters, Humpback Whales, Orca Whales,Steller Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, Porpoise, Puffins, Bald Eagles and a Black Bear. We also were taken up to Holgate Glacier for viewing. The crew on board was helpful and friendly and lunch was served on the boat. The Captain stopped several times during the trip to view the wildlife giving everyone on board ample opportunity for pictures as well. Would highly recommend this tour or check out their other tours as well.

We had such a wonderful day out exploring the glaciers and wildlife of Kenai Fjords National Park…read more We came pretty late in the season, but they were still offering their full day National Park cruise. As can be the case in the later season, it was raining nearly the entire time we were on the cruise. But we had come prepared with rain gear, and while it would've been nice if it had been more sunny and less foggy, we still had an incredible time. We got to see some glaciers, including the Harding Icefield - which was pretty cool since we hiked up to it the following day from another direction. So much wildlife to see - orcas, puffins, seals, bald eagles... Even though the weather wasn't the best, we still had great animal sightings. All the staff were so incredibly kind and friendly. The tour included lunch. Felt like the lunch was the weakest link of the tour - food could've been a bit better - but all things considered, I wasn't going on the cruise for the food. Towards the end of the cruise, they were able to get some of the glacier ice into the boat and had glacier ice margaritas for sale. Really good price - I believe they were $7 each. The margarita was good, but the ice was incredible. Overall, it was a fantastic experience exploring this portion of the national park. Would highly recommend!

The staff are the creme de la creme, they really seem to care about their guests and are knowledgeable to boot! The Captain takes us all over the place, but specifically will seek out things if you ask them to, which really gives the tours a personalized and special feeling. I also have an immense amount of respect for the crew of Major Marine Tours in how they show their respect for the wildlife.

He was very prompt in returning emails and arranging time for our viewing. Captain Louis was flexible with his time. His pricing is reasonable. Our morning out was fantastic. He had done some homework and had a plan for our trip. It was fantastic! We saw some orcas. The most fun was finding a large group of feeding humpbacks. I am sure Capt. Louis and I could of stayed out all day! His boat was well maintained and he was expert with his navigating. Thank you again!!

Captain Louis perfectly tailored our trip to our interests and available time. Bear Glacier was a highlight of our trip with Captain Louis. This was one of the most special things I've seen in my life. If you are in Seward, you need to see Bear Glacier and very few operators go there. Bear Glacier completely blew our minds. I know decades from now, I will still think about that time my husband and I went to Bear Glacier. Captain Louis also took us to see various wildlife: birds of all kinds, a humpback whale, otters, seals, and sea lions. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and the area. Captain Louis brought us to spots that the big tour companies don't go, which I really appreciated.

A Kenai Fjords wildlife tour was one the planned highlights of our 2 weeks Alaska adventure. Did…read moresome online research and asked some locals for advice on which tour to take. Several recommended Alaska Saltwater Lodge for its small boat tours. So I called to book. They don't always answer their phones so you have to leave a message or call back. I found the best time to call was after 5pm Alaska time. You meet the tour in front of a bakery across from the visitor center. There's a $10 all day parking lot there. Met the deckhand Joe who was really nice with a great sense of humor. Walked the 11 of us out to the boat where we met the captain Lindsey. A little safety instructions and off we went. Right in the harbor were a couple of bald eagles. Father out Lindsey spotted some humpback whales bubble feeding. It was a pod of about 20. We got up close - probably about 25 yards and what an amazing experience. Also saw seals, otters, puffins, sea lions and of course the glacier. The day was beautiful, mostly sunny, but what made the experience was Joe and Lindsey. We're out there 9 hours so had a chance to chat with both of them about living in Alaska, how she liked captaining the boat, etc. Really made the experience much more personal. When we got off we all agreed it was more like a day of boating with friends instead of a tour. Can't recommend Saltwater Lodge tours highly enough for their small group sizes, personalized service and great crew.

What a great little town & superb hosts! James & Kathleen made me feel right at home in their cozy, quiet, & comfortable B&B. The bed was comfy, the room was just the right size, & the curtains cancelled most of the constant sunlight shining in Alaska during the time of year in which I visited (this is very important, trust me). I found the prices to be very reasonable for the quality of my quarters, as well as my proximity to eateries & the dock. It was a quick walk from my B&B to the dock in order to meet up with everyone taking the Full-Day, Small-Group Whale-Watching, Wildlife, & Glacier Tour (the same people who have the Dairy Hill Lodging also head this tour). Once aboard, the cloud cover parted & we immediately starting seeing bald eagles & otters. We eventually also saw seals, two types of puffins, sea lions, & a large variety of beautiful birds. The calving glaciers sounded like thunder (you realize how small you are when they're close). Humpbacks & Orcas breached & played close to our boat several times, which was breathtaking. I was giddy when we discovered that two Dall's porpoises decided to have a little fun with us & glided alongside our boat, jumping & having a ball. It truly was an all-day adventure full of memorable moments & well worth the money/time. I cannot recommend the tour highly enough & thoroughly loved their Dairy Hill Lodging accommodations. I really hope I can return to Seward, & if I do, these guys will definitely be a part of my itinerary!
