After visiting several bridal stores and either not…read morefinding the right dress or not having the best experience, I decided to stop into The Dress Shop as my last store--just to see what they had. From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcome and taken care of. Although I'm sure all of their stylists are wonderful, I was incredibly lucky to work with Isabel, and I truly cannot give her enough praise. She was absolutely incredible. Isabel was so knowledgeable about every aspect of the gowns--fabric, designers, styles, silhouettes, details--you name it. She answered every question we had and made me feel reassured and completely comfortable, more than any other shop I visited (and I visited a good few!). One thing I loved was how personal the experience felt. During my first consultation, Isabel asked about my (then) fiancé, how we met, and details about our wedding day. It truly felt like they cared about me and wanted to get to know my story. I honestly felt like I became friends with them! There was never an ounce of pressure. In fact, it was the opposite--they respected when I needed time to think and never made me feel rushed or questioned my decisions. It was such a refreshing, positive experience. This shop--and especially Isabel--is genuinely at the very top of my list of wedding vendors. I've been excited to write this review since the day I bought my dress! Even after my dress purchase, I visited a few more times to look for a veil, jewelry, and accessories, and every single person I interacted with (front desk, phone calls, stylists) was so kind, encouraging, and helpful. I found my dream dress, veil, and bracelet here, and the entire experience was something I'll cherish forever. If you're unsure where to go--especially if you've tried multiple stores like I did--please visit The Dress Shop. You will not regret it.

I would never recommend this shop to anyone. It is owned and operated by a bunch of "see you next…read moreTuesdays" if you catch my drift. The amount of gossiping and bullying by the owner and workers was outright wrong. The bride heard everything they were saying about us. They were upset with the bride when she brought the bridal party with her to do the dress shopping. That's what bridal parties do. They help the bride pick out their dress. We were calm and just sat their patiently, never once even looking at the other dresses without permission. In June Christine called to make an appt to try on my bridesmaid dress they had ordered. When I arrived to that appt, Christine forgot that I had an appointment for my bridesmaids dress fitting, which I had driven an hour and left work early for. Upon trying on the dress it was atleast two sizes too small (which was also a big inconvenience for them even though they made me an appt and they forgot they made it). They then ACCUSED ME OF GAINING WEIGHT. I have a medical condition that keeps my weight very stable. I can't lose or gain weight. How unprofessional and rude!! The arms of the dress are so tight I can't move more than my forearms. The rest won't move and is constricting to a point where my arms are pulsating. Another bridesmaids dress was also two sizes too small. She'll be leaving a separate review though. September 1st came and the wedding is October 5th 2024. I still hadn't heard back about my dress being let out. I had to call and they said "oh yeah the seamstress is going to do that this week and call when it's done." Pretty nerve wrecking that close to the wedding. I finally got a call to try the dress on again a week later, it zipped but the seam on the side was completely botched. Yesterday I picked it up for the final fitting. The side seam still isn't great. I can't move my arms at all. They said the arm movement is how those dresses are supposed to be. I'm sad I wasted close to $400 on the dress, plus my travel expenses going there and back. I'm more sad that my best friend, the bride, is having such a hard time dealing with this experience. She had her final dress fitting done yesterday and her wedding is next Saturday. Talk about cutting it close!!! Please don't give this place your business!!

This was the 4th bridal store I visited, the other three being regular bridal shops (one in Howell, one in WB, and David's Bridal in Novi). I knew going in that all proceeds are donated to cancer charities, which is great; I didn't know that all the employees are volunteers, too. Our assistant was Lisa and she was great. In my two-hour appointment I probably tried on 5-7 dresses. Some weren't as "fancy" as I wanted (mostly the Torrid ones, but the prices were excellent; $50+) but I found two I really liked, and ended up buying one! For $450, which is about 1/4 the price of another dress I saw at one of the other shops and really liked. They do alterations there too - the shop itself allows credit cards but the seamstresses, who are also volunteers, just take cash or check. The shop advised me to come back about 3 months before my wedding to start the alterations process, so that would be June of next year. They told me they do cost-effective alterations, too, so this is where I'll be taking my dress. Overall super pleased with this store, and glad that their mission is so charitable, too.
