Jennifer is a godsend! We went to another trainer and he made us feel like we were at a lost cause…read morewith our Goldendoodle, Winnie, who began developing aggressive and reactive behaviors over a span of a year. Through our initial consultation, Jennifer provided a positive, reinforcing way to assist us with training utilizing science, animal and human behaviorism with tons of analogies in between! She has a warm personality and I felt at ease with her. She really loves and understands dogs, and was very open minded! We decided to add another puppy to our family and setup another private training session with her after we realized that Winnie was having trouble adjusting to our Sheepadoodle, Linus. Jennifer helped us reading their body language and put them into situations where they would understand and respect each other. We also received homework which we worked on diligently, and now they're literally best friends! I was only hoping to have them co-exist with each other, but I'm so happy that they're getting along. I would highly recommend Jennifer and her team at Lead With Fun, as they really do understand dogs! They also have a variety of different classes as well outside of private training.

We've had Jen work with both of our dogs, with excellent results…read more Our lab mix, Cthulhu, was leash aggressive with absolutely horrific social skills and Jen help show us what was stressing our dog out and how to work with our dog. We now have a dog that is much nicer on the leash and is able to play nice with other dogs. Three years later, we fostered another dog named Ellie. Ellie had no manners and we wanted to adopt her, but we needed to make sure that she got along with Cthulhu. We used Jen again to identify the issues and sources of apprehension between both dogs. Both dogs get along well now. We also have Ellie enrolled in Jens obedience class and Ellie is responding very well. The training techniques that Jen uses make it very easy to understand how to train your dog.

As a professional dog trainer, I have referred many dogs to Dr. Pike over the years. Those families…read morewere very pleased with her professionalism, compassion, and treatment plans. So, when I needed help with my own dog, Dr. Pike was the natural choice. My dog Splash came to me with a set of serious behavior issues that steadily escalated as he got older. Even with my years of experience working with dogs with significant behavior problems, it was clear that we needed additional help. I trusted my veterinarian and she agreed that Splash's behavior issues really required the expertise of a veterinary behaviorist. When I contacted Dr. Pike, I was worried there was nothing she could do to help Splash -- who was getting worse by the day -- but I could not be more pleased with the progress he has made under Dr. Pike's care. Dr. Pike carefully reviewed his lengthy history and came into our initial consultation with an in-depth understanding of Splash's behavior issues, his medical history, and the behavioral and medical interventions we had already tried. I was very impressed by how prepared she was. She listened closely to my concerns and provided insightful feedback, advice, and a new treatment plan. She quickly filled my prescriptions and sent me notes from our consultation so we could get started right away. We started to see improvement within a few weeks! Over the past year and a half, Dr. Pike has been exceptional! She has been available to coordinate with Splash's regular veterinarian on medication and handling plans for procedures that he has needed. And she always seems interested to read and reply to any updates I provide. This care is evident in Splash's continued improvement. My review is based on both my personal and professional experience. Truly, I cannot say enough positive things about The Animal Behavior Wellness Center. The office staff, nurses, and assistants have all been exceptional. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Pike and her team.  While having a dog with behavior issues is always difficult - Dr. Pike and everyone at the Animal Behavior Wellness Center make it immeasurably better!

I had a negative experience with another dog walking company and was in the market for a new one. I reached out to Jenuine Pet Care and wanted to tell the yelp community about my incredibly positive interactions with Jen. First, I received a prompt reply to my request for a quote and then had a lengthy online back and forth with Jen about her company. It's clear that she started this company with a genuine love of animals and a desire to be of service to those of us who aren't able to be home with our pets as much as we would like. After explaining a little bit about what happened with this other company, Jen explained all of the things that set her company apart from others and her love of animals and desire to care for them came through. I found a company in my neighborhood that has the same very high standards as Jenuine Pet Care- licensed, bonded, insured, good screening of employees and a respect for the homes that they go into. While I did not access Jenuine for services, it was only based on geography. Their personnel are great, their prices are competitive, and I cannot thank Jen enough for her kindness, thoughtfulness in allaying my concerns, and good business practices.

Mike is a wonderful and professional dog trainer that helped turn our strong headed Samoyed puppy…read moreinto a wonderful and disciplined dog and companion. Though he is tough and firm with the dogs, it was wonderful to see how much our puppy loved to be with Mike and his well he responded to him. But perhaps most importantly, Mike didn't just train our dog, he trained US and made us - our entire family including the kids - much better dog owners. I frankly don't know where we would have been with our Samoyed had it not been for the guidance and training Mike provided.

(I took this down, but I decided I'm going to keep it up)…read more Mike did a good job of assessing the root causes of issues that we were observing with our dogs. In addition to that, he did provide sound guidance on how to work with these, as well as a frank opinion. The techniques that he used with our dogs were effective, but the logic that he used to explain behaviors made me raise my eyebrows a few times. Mike subscribes to pack theory. Pack theory is outdated and was debunked by the same group of scientists that performed the study. (If you don't believe me, go to google scholar and look up some recent studies from academic papers.) Those notes aside, I do find Mike's professionalism to be highly questionable. Multiple times, Mike had directed condescending comments towards me flat out saying that women (unlike men) were more prone to making emotional (and i guess the implication was that they consequently make irrational and irresponsible) decisions. From how he talked, I was under the impression that he was coming into the consultation with this attitude, because I am female, even before meeting me. This is due in part because his phrasing indicated that he felt that my husband was the "rational" decision maker. I felt very disrespected in my own home. This behavior is very concerning, especially since he said that his daughter had made him aware that these types of comments could be perceived as sexist. I would assess other trainers first. I suspect you can get the same results, for the same/better price, but without the disrespect or outdated logic.

It has been a couple of months since my 1yo Samoyed, Olly, came back from the 10-day in-home…read moretraining that Mike and Jerri offer. At first, I was very nervous about letting someone have Olly for this long. He would take off after everything and was very hard to control. But, they made sure to send pictures of Olly on his daily excursions. I would see him sitting at various stores and I was delighted to see he was doing so well. When we went to pick him up, I couldn't believe how much he had improved. His basic obedience was on point, like never before. He was also more polite in unexpected ways. He's a very vocal dog, and we noticed that while he spoke just as much, he was literally softer in volume, as if he now understood that he can be too loud. He stopped going into bathrooms and creating messes. Best of all, I was able to take him out into the world on a leash and prong collar, and we both enjoy it. I will admit, I am bad at keeping up with the training - which is why I decided to do this program in the first place. OIly is definitely not problem free, but he's way more of a delight to own and, if I do better with the training tips Mike and Jerri offered, then I'm sure I can get him back into shape in a week or so. But, truthfully, just the fact that I can now take him anywhere I want with me and have a pleasant experience made it worth the price and the 10 days of separation.

My family hired Annmarie to give us tips on how to manage our puppy. We are first time pet owners…read more I didn't even have a pet when I was a child so it was all new to me. Annmarie started out by giving me a comprehensive consultation asking exactly what we envisioned. Further to that meeting and hearing our requests, we began our training of Roxy. I was surprised at how fast the puppy understood all the basic instructions and actually enjoyed the training sessions. Annmarie is very knowledgeable and experienced and is a dog whisperer. She has a way with dogs that is remarkable. After our sessions, Roxy, understood our expectations of her and is a much happier and more confident dog. Our family is also very pleased as Roxy understands basic commands and obeys and is not unruly like before. I highly recommend these dog training sessions for all pet owners. Money well spent.

She took the time to hear what we have been doing with our dog, observed us as we demonstrated our current techniques, and gave comments and critique where needed. The delivery of her feedback was very warm and informative - we never felt as if we were being insulted or belittled like I have experienced with other trainers. She offered an explanation of *why* our technique may not be working and explained a way to alter our training so that we could help our pup be successful. We have already decided to schedule future training sessions with Annmarie and are very excited. After just the initial evaluation session I noticed a marked difference in how well my pup walked on leash once I implemented her suggestions. We are very happy with our choice!
