    Wine tasting

Charcuterie board was great, my kids ate most of it, customer service was amazing, felt so welcomed. I do have to say, the wine was not my favorite. I guess I had a much higher expectation, which is my fault for assuming. But I loved the ambiance and service that I ordered a bottle to go still. Well worth it still.

    Beautiful outdoor patio.

What a fantastic find. The reds are bold, beautiful, and brilliant. The winery is just 3 years old and gorgeous. The tastings are only $5 and refundable with a bottle tasting. One of the best deals in the Dundee Hills and Willamette Valley areas. Situated right in downtown Dayton town, it has the same charisma and class as the wineries in downtown Sonoma or Healdsburg in California. The winery was very relaxing and full of charm. I really enjoyed my stay. With free WiFi and a great music soundtrack - I just felt like I found my new "happy place". The red swivel chairs make a person want to settle in and feel like home.. definitely will be coming back. This was a beautiful place to reflect, recharge, and relax at. I really enjoyed the fine wines and our lovely visit. Beautiful memories.

This was our last wine tasting stop in three days of Willamette Valley wine tasting. We had planned it to be so. Because while Seufert bottles several small lot options in Pinot Noir, and gets critical kudos on their Pinot as good value of quality at lower cost, they also bottle reds other than Pinot Noir. Those can be hard to find in the Willamette Valley and since we were doing the groundwork for an upcoming event with folks in tow who are red wine drinking centric but NOT Pinot Noir fans (imagine), we wanted to round out possible stops with winemakers making different reds. BOTTOM LINE We liked this funky little wine tasting room a lot! Located on the main street of woeful looking downtown Dayton, one walks in the tasting room to the wonderful aroma of wine aging in barrels. It's been a long time since we've been in a Willamette Valley winery that actually greets the public in their barrel room. This is considerably funkier than the wineries we visited in the days prior, and it was fun to have the sense of independent wine making as it used to be in other wineries in both the Willamette and Napa valleys. That's what moved us to saying "yay" and we'll go back. WINES Wine maker Jim Seufert is a fourth generation Oregonian with family roots in the Willamette Valley. The focus of his boutique winery is on Pinot Noir ($30 - $50 / bottle retail), with grapes sourced from different vineyards, but Seufert also make other wines. Including Pinot Gris and a blended white, cleverly named Woven White ($16), about which we'd heard good things as well as a dessert wine called Bella (@$15 / 375ml). In the realm of red, in addition to the ubiquitous Pinot Noir, Seufert also bottles an Italian varietal, Dolcetto ($24), and a Columbia Valley Syrah ($24?). A particular treat on this visit was that the tasting room host poured a new wine, referred to at this point as "secret project" or something like that. This wine is set to replace Bella, for which the last vintage was last year. Not yet bottled, the "secret project" sample poured was as yet unfiltered. Served just slightly chilled, it was an apple blossom pink, slightly sweet wine blended from Pinot Noir and a white varietal. To a man and woman, all seven of us in the tasting room said "aaaahhhh" as we sipped. My husband and I are looking forward to going back in a few weeks, when this is released, to buy this wine...and to finding out what they named it! TASTING SET UP The tasting room host was an exuberant and entertaining guy who was knowledgeable about Seufert wines and he added to the warmth and fun of the tasting experience here. The tastes were a flight of mixed varietals, but heavy on the Pinot Noir bottlings on the day we visited. There were several guests in the little tasting room early on a Friday afternoon, some from California for whom this was a repeat visit to Seufert, and among us we encouraged the host to open a bottle of Dolcetto and Syrah so we could all taste before purchase. He was "outnumbered" and he was gracious about opening the sample bottles even though they weren't included in the plan for the flight that day. We visited so many wineries over the course of three days that I took notes, but my notes here don't reflect whether or not there was a tasting fee. If so, it was refunded with purchase because we walked out with charges for three bottles of wine we purchased and no extra fee for tasting. THIS N THAT 1) Accessibility: Level in from sidewalk, all on one floor, bathroom is also accessible. 2) Single Vineyard Pinot Flight with Food Pairing: Is available on Saturday (and maybe Sunday?) if you call ahead. 3) Culinary Items: Available for sale on a wall in the tasting room called "Culinary Corner" and include things produced from grapes like Ver Jus and specialty seasoned salt.

What a delightful hour we spent with Michelle. She is the wine maker and a delightful host as well. We chatted about wine, wine making, and a dozen other things. She went beyond the wines on the tasting list as we talked about the kinds of wines we enjoy. The tasting fee is $5 and is comped with a purchase. This is such a pleasant change from the over priced, underwhelming tasting experiences you'll find elsewhere. And the wines which Michelle makes are outstanding. Her commentary on each tasting was insightful and educational. Wines are reasonably priced. Don't leave without a few bottles. You will be enjoying the bottles later and supporting a superb small winery that is doing so many things right.

Seufert Winery is one of Oregon's Top Indie Pinot Noir winemakers!! My friend and I decided we wanted to do a drive through the wine country and we landed upon Seufert Winery. Its such an unassumed facility that we almost missed it! Don't let the industrial facade fool you, this place can match any Pinot Noir in the market! We walk inside the place and its not your typical chateau or Vineyard because it does not have one. The owner buys his grape from several high end growers/vineyards to give his clients/customers high value wines for a fraction of its cost! They have tours of their facility, including a view of their wine making process. Samples of their wines are available and they even have a wine club where they provide shipment twice a month at 20% off. The staff there are very attentive and knowledgable about their wine and their wine making process. I was really impressed by the attentativeness and their generous sample portions! I really love the fact that i can buy Pinot Noir wine that taste like its worth $$$, but at a very reasonable price. Since my friend and i bought so many the owner convinced us to buy a case at a great steal!

Beautiful Pinots especially the 2007 Vista Hills. I was surprised by the facilities unremarkable exterior and interior. It's not your typical winery experience and greatly lacks the ambiance that would help bring more visitors. Luckily I wasn't there for the ambiance, just great wines!

Cozy (small) and modern shop with friendly staff (Michelle when we were there). Good wines. They also sell fascinating salts!
