I have been a patient of Dr. Finkelstein for several years now, and I am very happy with his work. He is highly knowledgeable in his field and he really cares about the health of his patients. I had a procedure under his care at Lenox Hill hospital, and leading up to the procedure, he and his office staff, along with the staff at the hospital, treated me with respect and kindness and made me feel very comfortable. On the day of, he greeted me with kindness, made me laugh, and really put me at ease, not an easy thing to do when you are facing a procedure in the hospital under anesthesia. I have to say the care I received under Dr. Finkelstein and the staff at Lenox Hill was some of the best I have ever had, after several surgical experiences at other hospitals.
To those who may be wondering about the validity of the statements from the commenters below who said that he was short and seemed annoyed--he is very direct, and he's serious. I guess some might consider that short, but after having been a patient of his for several years, I can say that he is very direct because, first and foremost, he knows what he's doing, and secondly, he's very busy--because he knows what he's doing. He will take the time to talk to you both before and after your visit or procedure and answer any questions that you might have. He is not impatient. He knows that a gynecological visit can be unsettling, so he will work quickly to answer your questions, to put you at ease, so that you can get your exam completed and be on your way to feeling better or having the results you need--not to be short. He really does have a lot of experience, so he's confident and doesn't hesitate--not because he has no bedside manner. I think to some this may come off as short, but it's really just that he is good at what he does. He's really down to earth and will give you honest advice that is truly helpful, not just what you want to hear. He is also available for consultation via email and responds very quickly. His office walls are covered in photos of babies he's delivered and awards he has received for his humanitarian work and other commendations, which I always find so comforting.
What allowed me to fully trust in his care is that he will recommend options that work for you as an individual. When I asked his advice on a care option for a particular issue, he carefully assessed risk factors based on my individual history, whereas in the past, doctors have been quick to just hand over whatever is easiest for them. If he has any concerns at all about your case, even minor, he will recommend further investigation to be safe rather than sorry.
Yes, his office gets very busy because he has a lot of loyal patients. Sometimes his staff gets inundated with requests and they are very busy. But they care, and will get back to you and get you what you need. I would highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a great gyn. read more
