Hired to put new deck boards on a deck that had already been stripped to the frame, Materials already sitting there. It is easily some of the worst work i have EVER seen. 2 boards in the frame needed replacing, there were replaced with USED boards out of the old decking that weren't treated, one of the top boards that you see had a used board full of nail holes and old stain used, i complained.. they replaced it with ANOTHER USED BOARD.
The kicker is there are 5 brand new boards still sitting 10ft away. The board cupping is up and down.. so most of it will be cupped in a year and have to be ripped out again.(although some people argue about cupping it still shows a lack of attention to detail) The last cut made along the long side to cut off the excess length looks like a drunk did it. why snap a chalk line when you can just wander along, a nice straight cut? naw.. why bother. It's like the people that were sent out had never seen a deck let alone built one. It took 3 guys.. 3 days to lay about 120 boards with no tricky angles at all. And i will now have to rip it out and re-do it myself since paying people just doesn't seem to work.
The leveling... seems levels are too expensive. or even some string, It is far from level.. i was told "We left an angle so water runs away from the house" Really? on a deck with a gap every 6" between boards.. interesting... Also.. the deck is 2 tiers, the upper tier has 1 corner that is easily 6-8" higher than the rest. every single person that has seen this has pointed it out in seconds.
Was quoted 2k ended up at 3.4k for a job so badly done that i have had 2 pros come out to re-quote it and they can't believe their eyes. I wasn't looking for perfection but i expected better than this.
ALSO.. the neighbors got to listen to 3 days of "YOU F***** DO THIS" "GRAB THAT F****ing BOARD".. very professional.
In the pics below you can see the dip still in the middle. And the top left rear corner is up way more than the rest (doesn't show well in the pic though)
The used board that was put in.
Also i forgot to mention.. one of the boards was some splitting or something.. the fix? just smear some wood putty on it.. this is on the top of a deck.
Thanks for reading this and i hope it helps anyone in the future. Just wanted to give fair warning about this company.
P.S. i ended up ripping out the entire job and doing it myself.. Alone it only took 90 minutes to level the frame. When i left reviews, instead of a refund i got a letter from his lawyer..
Don't believe the good reviews.. believe the bad ones. read more
