WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. A couple of weeks ago, I went into SES as I was concerned about disposing of my old electronics. I dropped off 2 laptops, 2 iPads, and some AirPods. I spoke with Kendra, and she assured me that my items would be shredded and destroyed at the facility, which is highly rated and holds multiple certifications. She even pointed out that I would be able to see if the devices were not destroyed on my "FindMy" app. So I trusted the company. Therefore, I put all my devices on Apple's "lost mode," which would notify me if they were ever turned on again. Last night at 10:54 pm, I received a notification that my iPad was located in Tijuana, Mexico, and that someone was trying to log in to my Apple account to complete verification. Fortunately, it is password-protected (as if it were stolen), and they cannot bypass it without my Apple ID Passcode. I took every precaution possible last night (changed all my passcodes, froze my credit, kept the device on my Apple account). I am VERY upset and disappointed. This is a fraudulent company!! They are illegally reselling your devices to other countries. TAKE THIS AS YOUR WARNING! Update: The CEO did some digging and the only explanation was that his employee stole it and sold it. Be really careful here! Make sure to watch your electronics get shredded closely. read more

The woman on the phone was very nice when I initially called in (Elvia?) and a gentleman opened the front door for me. I signed a form and marked in an item and I was on my way - there was no charge. This company is great! I brought a bunch of old electronics that I didn't know what to do with and had been piling up in my house for years, including a tv, several laptops, a bunch of old chargers and wires, and old printer, etc. They took everything for free, except for the printer, which they only charged $5 for. But that's understandable, since it would cost money for the company to recycle. Much better than the printer ending up in the landfill. To me it's well spent money. They also shredded the hard drives of my laptops. Very friendly employees, clean facility. Highly recommend! read more

I called and Kendra answered, answered all my questions, drive up there and handed off an old computer (hard drive to be destroyed for $10), old monitor, keyboard, camera. The Miramar location (8810 Rehco Rd, Suite C 92121) they charge $5 for computer speakers, really. Also, $5 per printer. I have 5 digital printers so I have to pay $25, that's insane. Something fishy with the Miramar location....don't even bother going here, stay away!! I called another drop off location in National City that is affiliated with SES recycling, they don't charge all. I called a different E-waste recycling company located in miramar, it's free. No need to pay. I went and dropped off my speakers and 5 printers, no charge. read more

Had a stack of very old hard drives and apple products to dispose of so contacted SES. The staff were helpful in explaining the process and cost. I was able to witness the destruction for added assurance that my data won't land in the wrong hands. They charged $10/per but the Apple products were $25/per. The company typically services businesses and bulk loads but will also serve individual walk-ins and they are one of the few certified e-waste recyclers in California! read more

Got rid of my heavy old tv and computer monitor without a sweat! Dropped them off by their Miramar area location at no charge! It's free and that makes it even more awesome They charge for some items, so I suggest that you call their office first before you go there just so you're ready for any charges. Among these items are bulbs, batteries, printers, vacuums, and paper shredding ($5/box - I don't know how big is the box) to name a few. For my trip there today, I'm satisfied. read more

I had a good accumulation of electronic recycling to get rid of. I saw the sign that said Point Loma High School was sponsoring an e-waste disposal in their school driveway this past weekend. A nice tent and some signs were set up, directly people to the area where the event was taking place. Two men were very nice and helpful and took a bunch of things that I could not bear to throw in the trash, knowing they would harm the environment. Thanks to SES, whose business card says they do onsite hard drive destruction at their Rehco Rd. office, along with accepting free e-waste. There are also free business and industrial e-waste pick-ups. (Minimums do apply.) And you can bring your documents to be shredded here for $5 per banker box. Top notch service! I received their flier in the mail for e waste pick up. I had my old flat screen out on the curb but no one ever came. There must have been a mix up with my mail, because it turned out my neighborhoods pick up week had already happened. I had been looking for another E waste place to take electronics that needed recycling. After noticing that SES was sponsoring the e waste collection events that occur in Mira Mesa on the weekends I decided to take my recycling straight to them instead of waiting for the weekend. Same rules apply at their store front as the pickup events. They take most things but charge to take alkaline batteries and other items. I did benefit from being able to watch my external hard drive being destroyed through their big shredder. Moving forward we should all minimize the amount of e waste we generate. Let's opt to keep our electronics longer and repair them when we can! However with modern day living we'll need companies like SES to help us with the rest. I'll be using them as long as they provide that service. read more

I came to SES to dispose of a couple of dead laptops and some hard drives extracted from said laptops. If you are coming to SES personally to request seeing your hard drives destroyed when you drop them off, you have to ask for the service at that time. Otherwise, by default, they will destroy the hard drives at the end of the work day. I had a miscommunication issue initially, where I thought that after paying for my hard drives to be recycled by the company, I'd receive my certificate of destruction later on. Turns out: that wasn't the case--you have to request and pay for it as well. But that's alright, because Kristine Bickings came to my rescue and helped resolve my problem, and now I have my certificate of destruction for my hard drives. Should you encounter any issues regarding anything, please reach out to Kristine. She has been superb and understanding--I can't recommend her enough. I want to also give a shout-out to Larry Kurschner, the CEO. I got to meet him in-person. He's very cordial and will make sure all your questions get answered. If you email SES from the contact form on their website (under "Contact", all the way at the bottom), he'll be the first to respond to you. In conclusion, I'd recommend SES to anyone who wants assurance that their hard drives and similar are destroyed responsibly, safely, and with total assurance that the data on those drives (should you have not had the opportunity to erase them prior) is unrecoverable. I was looking for a new place to get some boxes of paper shredded. I had always used Goodwill, but they stopped offering this service in November. I was letting my boxes pile up because every place I heard about or looked into was outrageously expensive and they expected you to unload all of your boxes into there bins. This week I started looking again because I couldn't see over the tops of my boxes. I am so thrilled to say that I have found a great place. I finally found an e-recycling place that is:1) Covid safe, 2) takes ALL electronic waste and 3) the fee is extremely nominal-for me it was only $5. I brought old thumb drives, adapters, an old router, Zip drives, floppy discs. They will take TV's, computers, ect . They will destroy your drives, but with Covid, you will not be able to witness it. They also do paper shredding. read more

After checking the website drop-off locations, confirming they are open, I drove to the Vista drop off and was told by Peter that their site is full. He then told me to go to the San Marcos location and speak to Eric. He tried to call but nobody picked up. I drove there and spoke to Eric. He stated that "upper management" had told them not to accept e-waste. These drop off sites are associated with Store'em Self Storage. There is no indication on the related web sites, nor is there signage in either location indicating they are not accepting e-waste. Once again, the consumer pays the price in time, gas, and trouble for the inconsiderate practices of these kinds of businesses. Consumer beware. read more

I love when something good happens comes out of something bad. Our neighbors had a water leak overnight which flooded in to our office suite/storage area. We had to get all of our recycling out of the way so they could set up the dryers to keep the walls from growing mold. We had no where to put our recycling except outside on the curb. Our usual e-waste recycling person wasn't available so I started calling around. Larry from SES called me within about 5 minutes of my submitting a request online and said they could be here in 30 minutes. What a lifesaver. They arrived promptly, were friendly and professional, and got everything loaded quickly. They even left a giant box and pallet to make it easier for our next pickup. I highly recommend this company. Oh my goodness. . .I was transporting fluorescent tubes in my car and one of them broke. My google research made it seem like it was the end of the world and that I was going to imminently die of mercury poisoning. I was freaked out!!! I found this place and they were so kind and so helpful. They didn't make me feel stupid, reassured me that I wasn't going to die, and then stopped what they were doing to help me. We took a laptop to a collection site Secure E-Waste Solutions had set up in a Sprouts (Lemon Grove) parking lot. I asked, "What will you do with this?" Reply: "We will take it to a warehouse 10 miles from here, separate plastics and metals; then shred the hard drive." "Where will the plastics and metals go?" I asked. Everything stays in Southern California to be reprocessed. Nothing goes out of country or even out of state." I congratulated them on their business model, and learned I was talking with Larry who'd conceived of it. We'd read so much about how e-waste taken to these dropoffs still ends up in landfills or gets sent to China where people, often children, breakdown plastics and metals over heat, exposing them to toxins that make them ill.
